Has anyone see this little gem posted around the interwebs? While undoubtedly we’ve seen a jump in grocery prices the last two years (and more) this is the kind of dubious, undocumented, improper context bull corn so many folks get amped up about, mostly for political posturing.

Without any actual empirical data, I'm afraid this is just as meaningless as OP. I'm damn sure my grocery bill has not doubled and I have made very few consumer changes in the last few years.
Your grocery bill hasn't doubled ? WTF ?
Mine sure the fuck has, ALMOST EVERYTHING except milk, bread, eggs and cheese has gone up 100%-300% where I live, if I'm lucky some just 50%.
And I'm talking eating as cheap as possible since I'm on a fixed income. It's been fucking brutal.
Beans and rice was a $6 meal. $1.99 for lima beans. $2-$3 bucks for a pound of smoked meat. 1$ for rice and an onion.
Went to the store the other day it was. $5 for lima beans. $8+ for a pound of smoked meat. $1.50 for rice.
That's more than 100% Almost 150%
Maybe they raised the prices on the survival food since there was more of a greed margin to be had.
Frozen veggies that were a $1are now $1.50- $3.00 Chicken livers or gizards were a $1 are now$3, sometimes $4 and have a lot more blood in them. I could go on.
All the shit I used to be able to buy super cheap to survive off of has fucking SKY ROCKETED in price !!!
Amazon has a really useful long term price checker. Their number 1 best selling brand of Jasmine rice is Iberia. A 5 pound bag is currently 5.18. In 2021 it alternated between $5-10 depending on the deal.
You can look at any staple good this way. In competitive marketplaces prices are flat to down. It’s that brands and retailers are taking price where they can.
I never have and I never will order ANYTHING off of Amazon.
I refuse to put one red fucking cent into Bezos's pocket EVER !!!
My roommate ordered something from Amazon one time and it was low quality.
It was a walker and it was a Chinese piece of junk.
I want to be able to see the welds of something and the quality of the product before I spend my money. I told her not to do it and it lasted 6 months for a $100.
I'd rather support a local business where I can see what I'm buying and pays money towards the benefit of my community.
Than a billionaire who gets sweetheart tax breaks from the government and does nothing to benefit my community.
Same with buying food. I've found a place in the hood that has very decent prices on meat the other day. I will be getting ALL of my meat from them now on.
I'll support a mom and pop place over a billionaire any day of the week even if it cost a $1 more.
Not only that, but anytime I've looked at the price of food on Amazon it's WAY higher than any grocery store where I live. I'm talking shelf stable products.
On top of that where I live it routinely gets 100 plus degrees and bad thunderstorms.
That's a no go for food to be sitting out in, not to mention I've seen too many videos of how the drivers treat the products. I'll skip worrying about a piece of broken glass in something because they throw it around like a fucking piece of trash.
FUCK AMAZON AND JEFF BEZOS !!!
FUCK ALL BILLIONAIRES !!!!!
They are the reason our politicians work for Corporate America's interests instead of we the people's.
I do my best to not support ANY BILLIONAIRE !!!!
I very rarely go buy anything at a Wal-Mart. There's a hardware store in my town that is just like the hardware store on the Home Improvement TV show. I'll by there and a lot of times it's even cheaper.
The only place I spend a little money is the Dollar General and it's pretty much unavoidable unfortunately.
Just because it's so close, after adding the price of gas its usually cheaper than saving a little at a regular grocery store.
Unless I'm picking up multiple Items.
But prices are still fucking crazy and it's nothing but corporate greed. If they're all making record profits what does that tell you ?
It tells me the excuses they give for the outrageous prices are bullshit amd just an excuse to fuck we the people out of our money.
Yes, if you are writing a screed against all the places that offer low prices, it is very likely that you are experiencing a very big increase in prices. That is not surprising. If you are structurally opposed to Walmart and Amazon and you’re buying shit at Dollar General and mom and pop stores, you are going to experience price increases.
What these stores have learned over the past 2-3 years is that fewer customers shop based on price. For example, if you raise your price of rice $2-3, some customers will leave. But even when some customers are shown data that a product is getting cheaper on Amazon, rather than purchasing on Amazon, they write an unhinged screed about billionaires and social justice and the Home Improvement TV show.
The cheapest grocery store in my town is not overrun by demand, even though the difference is severe and the quality is great. People do not give a fuck about prices, and stores have been getting better about raising prices to those customers. And you are one of those customers. That’s why you’re noticing bigger price increases than everyone else.
I just found a mom and pop store that beats prices on meat at every grocery store in my area. As well as Amazon without a doubt.
Also AMAZONS prices are NOT lower than my grocery stores when I've looked shit up.
For a walker, yes Amazon was cheaper. But I was unable to check the quality of that walker and it turned out to be shit. Made sure to go to a place where the quality could be checked and got a good one that was a little more expensive initially. But has already saved more money than having to buy a cheaper one every six months, or ordering till you finally get a good built one.
I purchase VERY FEW Items at DG and after adding on the cost of gas it's still cheaper going to DG than spending the money on gas going to another place that's cheaper.
The other store beats Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace usually. Always Ace. They also carry the stuff you won't find at those places. Of course it's not nearly as big and they don't have everything that those stores have, but they can order it and it's usually comparable in price. Once again add in gas and it IS cheaper.
The only thing I've found that can't be beaten on prices is canned and dry goods at Walmart.
I eat very few canned goods. Dry goods I get somewhere else. I'll spend slightly more money not to put more money in to Walmart's coffers.
