Left a couple of samples down there as well.
Same here, not a very proud moment...
Going down the hole with Supers is my greatest failing to Super Earth.
I landed with one to my back, idk how I didn't see it. Anyways, I called in my pack abd support weapon, got them, did a 180 and ran straight into it. Boy those next 7mins were hectic.
Did this and was too embarrassed to continue playing. I returned to civilian life immediately. Lol
I had a team mate thank me for shooting him in the head because I saw him backing up from bugs and he was about 2 feet from the hole with the supers.
That was an interesting experience.
And before I get hate for that decision, this was a random I joined who stressed more than once that he had been having terrible luck with gathering them and he REALLY needed to finally get more
I don't just shoot randoms lmao
Your Doing Your Part
If you have a jet pack you can get them back.
I thought the hooe was instant death?
I've even fallen in the same hole twice. Nothing worse than falling down a hole and being greeted with the super samples lying at the bottom of it from the last time you fell down.
Topped off that game by getting obliterated by my own AC sentry when I was diving into the pelican on extraction. Everyone else was in, so they departed without the other samples I'd collected since I'd fallen down the hole the second time. Absolute tool of a match from me.
Edit: sp
Sounds like something I'd do. We should team up to form a multi tool.
A Gerber of Helldivers?
A Leatherman of leathernecks?
A charger got a hole in one on me down a bug hole 😭
Damn, diver. Sometimes life says you're taking an L, and there's just not much you can do about it.
Can't spell life without L
They probably started calling you Double Dip.
Turns out it's surprisingly easy to fall off a ship (or into a giant hole in the ground)
When it rains, it pours.
If you're feeling brave you can try to call in a weapon on the walls going down to try to lower yourself enough to get in grab range
Saw a rando pull that off once, I'm not crazy enough to do it but hey they had disposable rocks
I managed to land my pod in one of them lol.
Nothing beats finding out those holes are instant kills by landing in one first thing.
I’m guessing your pod didn’t plug the hole? 😂
Were you alive inside the hole? First drop in yesterday I came out of the pod underground. Seemed like a hole, but hard to tell. Had to kill myself.
I've done this, and yeah, I had to grenade myself
Yeah had to kill myself.
Yup. Did a backpedaled retreat into one of those. I could even hear the bugs cackling.
Also reinforced STRAIGHT INTO A BIG ONE. FML.
Yup I dived away from a charger right into one, well played
I remember once, looking back and diving in front right into the hole ⛳
Randomly landed in one and got stuck until I died.
When we first dropped onto a planet, I had a buddy who got a hole in one and dropped straight into one of these with their hellpod.
We laughed so hard at this. One of the reasons I keep playing for moments like this.
The worst is stalwart and backpack of whichever kind can end up down there. Then your screwed
I’ve always called them “Hell-Holes”
Die to something random
Get reinforced back in
I want my gear so i aim back towards the spot i died
I land in a freaking hole and die isntantly
I get called in again
I land in the same damned hole
Sigh I wonder if I should just alt-F4 and go look at some trees
Get called back in
LAND ONCE AGAIN IN THE SAME FUCKING HOLE
I'm sure the random people in that group were wondering what the hell I was even doing.
I had 1 not so brilliant run where I fell in one and just as I was telling my buddies to watchout along come 2 of them following me into the abyss
I never seem to find these holes unless I have the super samples on me.
That’s the only way to find them.
I'm guessing a ton of terminids died in a hole, decomposed, and you're left with crude E-710. Throw a grenade in there... Yeah it packs a punch.
they on bot* planet too
So are terminid corpses
damn dude you are right
I think they spawn randomly around whoever has custody of the supers
i would assume volcanic vents. throwing stuff down makes it unstable and makes it explode, presumably to aid in fights when you've got 50000 hunters up your ass and really need them out
They can kill a bile titan if you make the vent explode while it’s standing over it.
I need to try this
Bile titans can also die from stepping into or off of holes. There was a map with a lot of very large holes and small paths between, I was able to lead a titan into the labyrinth and trick his bathing into stepping off the edge with one foot. He died immediately and fell into the hole. I couldn't get the other one to do it though.
Thanks for the enlightenment. I had no idea that was possible.
You know you can see it happen in the posted video right?
I meant to respond to the OP, but my reply stratagem bounced.
Those are geysers
GAYsers
Spots to reinforce your teammates in
The first time I ran into one I threw a grenade in and it destroyed a nearby factory. I thought it always connected to a nearby factory until I tried it again… I was slightly disappointed
If you throw your samples in, it spits out supercredits.
Trust me, bro
It worked!
And I hear you can get a free Ultra Carrier if you jump to Hutton Orbital.
That's sulphur dioxide from volcanic vents throwing nades down the hole make gas go boom
Sample traps
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
this video appears to be the answer to your question
I always assumed they were high velocity impact craters from unexploded ordinance.
Craters would be much wider and bowl shaped. Impacts, especially from high velocity, don't tend to leave clean holes like that.
Traps for Helldivers to fall into when they don't look!
What I find really interesting, is that in HD2 there are very few instant death sections of the map, while HD1 was basically filled with chasms which would kill you if you fell in.
The lack of visibility in HD1 meant that you often crashed vehicles into the chasms if you weren't careful. Gonna be interesting to see the vehicle performance in HD2, once they fix the issues with them.
We call this "lose your samples hole".
Hot...liquid MAG-MA! 😂🤣
There's a prize down there! Go take a look!
Supposedly they're tunnels and throwing a grenade down there closes them off and lowers bug spawns, but I don't know for positive.
Dn but i'm hoping dropping grenades in counts for something!
That’s the same I do/hope 😂
I thought they were bug holes when I first started playing, but they are just gas vents that go boom when you ignite them - could potentially be used in a fight if you gather enemies close
So you can fall in a hell bomb now.
They are lessons in positional awareness.
Reminders that even the experienced can let confidence blind themselves.
A warning to all sample grinders.
How many times I have been overrun by hordes near these holes Then you start diving and I once made a perfect jump into such a hole 🤣
Holes of shame. These are the holes your friend fell into and lost the samples and mission critical SSD, but didnt mention it.
If you throw a grenade into it and stand next to it you get a free prize! Try it -^
Throw a grenade in and find out
Thermal vents or something I imagine
What did you call me?
hey what’s ur snap?
I think it's called steam 😂
Spunky fireworks?
Next time shoot a rocket in there - you’ll go orbital
The amount of times i’ve lost a mech because i was backpedaling away from a bile titan while shooting the shit out of it is way too high
You can kill a titan with one of these
Sample collectors
There's a surprise at the bottom of them
If you time it right they can kill things for you. Just have to get the grenade in and an enemy over it when it explodes. Easier said than done for sure
Spas!
Sincerly, Not a bug
They’re vents that spew explosive gas, if you lure enough enemies over it will kill them, I’ve killed a charger with one, but not a bile titan yet.
Have you managed to get a charger to fall in to the giant holes in the drill map?
They don’t fall in, as far as I can tell they’re programmed not to.
Hmm... I wonder if an explosion just behind them would help?
They've been there since day 1 idk
Throw a grenade in it.
Natural gas (metan from bug farts)
It makes big boom when you throw nade in there
Lil' Timmy's Volcano.
Some kind of geothermal vent, indicative of some pretty violent tectonic activity.
Death.
Hot springs. They’re really nice and relaxing, try one out.
Environmental hazard to navigate around
Hellpod catchers. Perfect size every time.
I always thought that it would affect the spawn rate by throwing a Grenade down there
They are the fast travel points. Stand near the edge, point your weapon in the opposite direction from the way you want to go then aim at the hole and fire. Instant fast travel to your next location
Sample Donation Holes 🕳️
There's special loot if you jump down there.
Free super candy, jump in.
These holes create the fog and mist effects on planets!!!! If you wanna be able to see on planets like Esker blow up the billowing gas holes!!!!!!!!!
https://youtu.be/V9ZV1nHdcI0?si=6FyKpun0MgsH-1V5
It's there for this to happen and you to get angry. The only reason.
If you autocannon them you will fly across the map and die a wonderful death.
It's an unlimited supply of rares and supers 🤣🤣
If you throw a grenade in there it makes a huge explosion; ie it’s the 710 deposits probably naturally forming in their tunnels
Peak comedy is when I dove in with a high level random team. Fellow diver landed his pod in one of those holes and died instantly after his pod opened.
outgassing vents.
I have seen nothing official, but I'm 99.8% positive those are minor bug-cave exits/entrances and the smoke is E-710 fumes from the bug colonies, so throwing an explosive in there would definitely make a big boom
As far as I know they are just geological features on some planets, like geyser's - just with more lava or something down there.
my bussy after chipotle
Titan/horde killers.
And a reason to bring fused grenades.
Pair those two and you can have a grand time now and then.
It's fast travel. Stand near or above the rim and shoot into it. You'll go flying crazy far and as long as you don't bash your head, you'll probably live.
Bug farts
They'll kill stuff if they stand on it ie bile titans
Planatary subway system. Shoot it with an autocannon and your destination is randomly determined
Looks like your mom after a long night of democracy.
I use them to lure my friends closer and then push them in? Isn't that their purpose?
The Legendary question... i must have asked this 1-2 weeks ago....
They're candy holes. Jump in and find out ;)
Live bugs down there feasting and pooping. Their poop is starship fuel. Hence BOOM 💥
So throw a grenade down it and run.. it dets off a chain reaction underground and I've gotten 34 kills from a swarm that was on my ass.. I was grenade crazy and figured that out it is helpful in the right circumstances
They are gas vents. Really explode when you throw a High explosive in there
Throw a grenade in and stand back
Also big enough for a mech to fall in
I've been trying to teach people about these "hell holes" for literal months.
I love this post.
"What's this thing I threw a grenade in?"
"A thing you're supposed to throw grenades in. Good fuckin work Helldiver!!!"
Sulfur pits
Hivelord anus.
To kill the big bug 😀
I executed an amazing jump pack escape from bug evisceration whilst chatting bold about it to the squad, went straight down one of these on landing.
Twice.
I've literally been rag dolled into them like the most infuriating game of mini golf ever, haha.
Damn Socialist Rocket Devastators
I was dying so I drop the samples let my team pick it up along with my quasar cannon, while I had four chargers 3 behemoth chargers, and one regular charger chasing me and whole hoard of bugs going along with chase and spawning bugs bug breach and while that happen I held a grenade got to the hole and I jump in the hole engaging the grenade, what I did not expect to have a 38 kills when it exploded and kill the surrounding bugs that was chasing my hot gorgeous hell diver ass
They’re a convenient place to drop all your collected samples only to never get them back!!!
They are pain for unsuspecting helldiver's. I only died twice to these things. First time was 3 days after launch. Second time was a month after
Planet mini butholes filled with gass
Fun fact: if you decide to navigate your drop pod into one of these, you die.
Fast travel tech if you stim before blowing it up
The aoe is pretty small though? So not great for killing things, at least imo
It teleports you back to your helipod
Some kind of gas vent. Seem more common on bug planets so maybe some kind of vent for nests to remove hazardous metabolic waste gases? Like if they function like ants, they will have trash storage areas that would leak toxic gasses during decomposition, so dig a lil vent hole. Meaning many many helldivers have tumbled to their deaths onto a stinky pile of terminid poop.
Throw a grenade in one.
When i first started. Thought they were bug holes. Threw a nade in. Why TF they explode so hard?
I imagine it's supposed to be a natural gas vent. Hence the big booms when ignited
First one i threw nade in. I looked down the hole.
Only my legs were left standing
How very looney toons of you.
Still, we do what we do in the name of science...and democracy.
Wrong question.
Right question is: Why do the other holes not explode so big? We need more and bigger explosions to spread Democracy.
Throw a gernade down it, makes a big boom. You can use a gernade launcher and able to survive (Able not will)
If you drop a grenade down it it explodes
Killed a bile titan with one of those. Useful in a pinch
That is where they make the explosions for the other parts of the game.
I thought that was self-evident.
Helldivers only want one thing...and it's disgusting
Terminids be smokin
Death traps
New Pope
I call em spicy hot tubs
Edit tubes->tubs
For the life of me it never occurred to me to toss a grenade down there.
I'm not a very good Helldiver. All holes a nade can fit down should have a nade put in them.
Grenade them is the goal
The last explosion looked super cool
Exactly that
I love jump packing and landing directly in one because you couldn’t see it
More random shit to blow up
It's a hole to space china!
That is called a sample trap.
It's where you toss the one ring
Oh, steam holes, great fun! Throw a grenade into one!
...Oh, but don't stand close by after that.
A way to die before even playing by accidentally landing in it
Wow. I've never tried to detonate this
My friends and i call them one-way-holes
They go boom. But they also lower the smoke density in the nearby area I've found kinda like spore towers
Toss a grenade in
1 missing reply
Traps for helldivers that don't look where they're going.
Source: died an embarrassing number of times on these.
