complete hammock setup for under 300€ in europe.

Edit: So since it is uncommon to buy full set ups (i thought it might be cheaper that way), id like to focus on finding a very light hammock and underquilt combo that is tall enough for me (im 193cm so ideally 11-12 feet) for under 200€.

Hey, i want to get a hammock set up to use mostly in spring/summer/autumn on backpacking trips that last from a couple of days to maybe 2 weeks. However the choices in europe seem to be limited compared to US.

I am 193cm and 75kg.

I want to get a complete setup (Hammock with mosquito net, tarp, over/underquilt or sleeping bag). Do i even need a quilts when the minimum temperature will be 18°C at nights?

The setup should be as light as possible.

For now i came across Amazonas Adventure Thermo and the Hennessey Explorer (i heard it is overpriced for what it is).

I'm happy with my DD kit but another guy on here wasn't.

Regarding 18C, would you sleep in that temperature without insulation on top of you? If not, why would you sleep in it without insulation under you?

I would get a complete kit from Lesovik.

Draka hammock is 200 euros Otul UQ is 250 Otul Lite is 150 Heksa Tarp is 150.

I think Lesovik is the best bang for the buck hammocks around right now. So I would get the hammock, get an UQ and get a cheap tarp until you save for a better one

You'll definitely need an underquilt, a tiny bit of wind will make 18°C feel much, much colder.

We still have some options here in the EU, even at a budget while still remaining relatively lightweight:

Tarp: DD Hammocks Superlight.
(Bottom) insulation: Decathlon foam mat, or DD hammocks XL underblanket (heavier, pricier, but more comfy)
Top insulation: Generic sleeping bag, DD hammock quilt

That will put you at +- 200 euros.

That leaves the hammock. DON'T get the DD superlight (or any of the DD hammocks, really). I wish I could recommend them but they're just too short for sleeping in (I'm the same height as you are). I ended up importing an 11' Dutchware, which literally solved the back/shoulder pain I had in the smaller DD hammock overnight. But that means going ~50 euros over your budget.

On the other side of the spectrum Decathlon sells a 2 person hammock that looks like an amazing value (30 euros?). You could replace the heavy suspension with the DD suspension setup, which would be lighter and less harmful to trees due to the webbing/treehuggers.

(DD is technically outside the EU, but they have distributors here)

The Cocoon UL Tarp is the same price as the DD superlight tarp and a bit smaller Packliste, IIRC. While you are at it, you could buy the Cocoon UL Mosquito net hammock, which sets you back ~200 for Tarp, Hammock and Mosquito net. Daisy chains for tree protection and hammock suspension (20€), 10m dyneema 2.5mm rope and two mini biners for the tarp suspension a la Derek Hanson (30€). Second hand TAR Ridgerest and a sleeping bag that you already have, leaves you with 30€ for a lantern and a UL Picknick blanket to sit on while you’re not in the hammock.

You can't usually buy an all in one setup, nor would I recommend it. I am very happy with my Highlander Nomad hammock/net/tarp kit which was cheal and absolute score when it comes to quality, great bang for a buck, but prefer a much more expensive down sleeping bag (Warmpiece) and underquilt (Cumulus).

lesovik does look great. if you can stretch the budget, I'd go with them.

onewind should be available. I'd go with their 11 or 12 foot hammock and tarp before a hennessey. on germany's amazon site, they're €75 each, €150 euro total for tarp and hammock. there's an 11 foot hammock and 12 foot tarp bundle as well.

this setup will weigh less than the hennessey expedition system, be longer, wider, and with more tarp coverage..

just add quilts/insulation.

lightweight hammock setups are a compromise in price, length, or longevity. the amazonas does look lighter, but it's smaller, and the bugnet requires spreader bars and extra tieouts.

hennessey is expensive for being an imported hammock brand. There are lots of things I dislike about their designs: can only lay head left, feet right; the rope tying system is fiddly and takes time to undo if you have to raise the hammock at all; many models are only 10 feet long, and they're narrow at 59 inches wide; the tarps don't offer a ton of rain cover...

i just want to say you are blessed with height. unfortunate for hammock camping but i’m sure the pros outweighs the cons
