I went Driver shank, 3w, 3w over the back, chip short, chip past, then 2 putted for a par.
Going through some old photos and found this from the Golf Club of Illinois - Algonquin.
COURSE PICS/VLOGS“Gobble your balls,”
That had to be intentional.
Yeah, that has the recipe for a double-digit number
Grew up 2 minutes from there. Those poor houses down the right got smoked daily🥹. Looking back it was a pretty good track for $30 back in 2013
It may have been $50 and I thought it was pretty good.
Me too
678 yards…for most of us on r/golf that is literally Driver, 7i, and a 2 putt for guaranteed birdie.
Speak for yourself - driver, 1 putt for the EZ albatross here
Driver, driver, driver, putt.
Birdie time.
Have played that course a couple of times, probably 20 years ago. That hole is always into the wind too
Ya facing west made it more of a bitch. We were up there for the BMW Chamionship and it was great weather so I cant blame my shitty performance on that.
Is it downhill at least?
Uphill
Both ways
Check your math…
7
I got 5 🤷
Good job OP!
Very strange that the reds are further than the whites.
I just noticed after you said that. No idea if that is right.
Yep and OB up the entire right side.
Played there for my first round of the year... as a 30 hcp it was brutal lol, but I surprised myself by scoring a 99. First time breaking 100.
531 from the whites. Hole 11 is appropriate, because I don’t think there’s any chance I’d make less than an 11 😂
Haven’t played there is a long time. Nice course
University park has a beast par 5 similar to this I think. I remember playing it years ago
This is my local course. This hole is rough
It is a nice course though.
For sure. I play it pretty regularly
Reminds me of a par 5 at the The Hawk in St. Charles. 575 OB left and right
I played that hole once a few years ago, me and my buddy were both on the green in 4 and 2 putted for bogey. Driver 3w 3i got me to probably 50yds off the green
Love GCI. Learned to play at that course.
Nice Par!
One of the few links courses in the area, use to play there 2-3 times a week when I lived in Algonquin. That hole though lol
There's a 773 yard one at TPC Colorado.....no way I'm playing the tips there when I get a chance to, damn private courses.
This was the fun one at the course I played weekly growing up
Holy hell. Could you cut that corner and land short left?
Sadly it's closed now so I can't get good satellite imagery, but the sign was HIGHLY not-to-scale. Here's the actual scaled hole with some quick estimates of shot length.
And playing the hole this aggressively is insane unless you're really confident in your long clubs. Southern Arizona so everything left or right is rocky sand with harsh brush. (And snakes, hence the name)
I’d have to stop for lunch!
Out of playing this course 25+ times, I parred this whole once.
Should have called it Sherman’s march and then burned the fucking thing down
It took me a while to see the yardage sign, looks pretty average but you do look familiar. 🤔
After every round here, i play Bonnie Dundee 5 times to get my confidence back.
I just recently played Black Mountain outside Asheville, NC that had this “signature” 17th. Birdied without even hitting driver… 3w, 3w, 4i, 54°, 3’ tap-in. Fun track!
For the life of me I can’t figure out how that’s a par.. I’m missing something.. or actually adding something. How is that not +2?
I have to assume he’s joking about the par. Because yes that’s 7 strokes.
Easiest 10 I’ll ever shoot
Played that course for the first time last year, had a blast!
God I hate that hole. Play this course a few times a year. Don’t think I’ve ever done better than bogey.
Looks like a pretty shitty hole
I used to play at a course in central Illinois that was built on an old Christmas tree farm that had a hole that was 655 from the tips, tight OB left and right (old growth Christmas trees) and was a dog leg left then dogleg right and slightly uphill the entire way so you got no roll. I think I took a 6 after a drive, 3W, 3W, chip and 2 putt
Write up from a golf site about the hole.
