And as a massive Hans Zimmer fan, I’m all for it!!
And as a massive Hans Zimmer fan, I’m all for it!!
TIL Hans Zimmer is super fucking cool
Hans Zimmer is awesome. What he is not, is Austrian
fwiw I knew he was German, was just saying that I didn’t know he was actually super cool. When I picture “classical music composer” I definitely don’t picture a guy with his shirt unbuttoned jamming out on an electric guitar.
Well look up any of his concerts, like playing his songs from Interstellar, and you will see that this guy is legit and cool. Regarding his profession at least.
I will! I’ve never seen any live concerts, just listened to recordings. He did the MW2 soundtrack back in 2010, I’ve always enjoyed that.
Seeing hams Zimmer live ranks alongside the fragile tour NIN and classic slayer as of the best live experiences I've ever had. If he comes anywhere near you it's well worth the cost and trip.
I’m seeing him in September in Chicago I have no idea what to expect I just love his work this makes me so excited
That's the best way to go to any show. Enjoy it.
Don't be late, all HZ concerts I've been to started right on time (except for one World of Hans Zimmer, but that's a different thing, without Hans running it). And Hans was later making fun of people who he has seen walking in late if they're sitting somewhere close to stage, lol.
I know this comment is four days old but I had to give more than an upvote because of how much I agree with you that Zimmer, Fragile/Downward Spiral era NIN and Slayer (I’d add Echoes era Foo’s and Gilmore as Pink Floyd) are my top live experiences of all time.
I've never seen Gilmore but I bet that was amazing. I did Roger doing the wall in Amsterdam and I've seen the foos a whole bunch of times starting with 1x1, I honestly think they just keep getting better live. I haven't seen them since Taylor passed though.
The score for MW2 still goes so hard.
On a related note: Lorne Balfe was actually credited for the score of MW2 while Hans Zimmer was only credited for the main themes. IIRC Lorne Balfe was a part of Hans Zimmer's production studio so I'm sure they were both listed as producers on the project overall.
I've only ever watched them on a screen and they're some of the most cinematic and entertaining few hours I've ever seen, I'd love to see one in person. Thought his involvement was fantastic
If only the tickets were within my realm of possibility. I want to hear him live before I die.
Zimmer has been composing amazing soundtracks for a long time. Honestly, anything he does is beautiful, evocative, exciting. And I missed all of it. Maybe youtube caught it 🤞
Probably because Hans Zimmer isn’t classically trained. He never studied music composition at a snooty university or conservatory. He got his start as a synth player in rock bands before beginning to experiment with composition.
Kind of like Trent Reznor then? I love that.
Hes incredible. Watch his 'Live in Prague' concert, its great. He talks between the songs.
Bout time the Germans return the favor.
But he speaks Austrian /s
Only relevant because he’s performing the Austrian national anthem at the Austrian Grand Prix in Austria
I didn't know Hans Zimmer nationality, people learn stuff everyday. I think that it's fair to comment that Hans Zimmer is not Austrian when he's doing the Austrian national anthem. People who don't know can easily assume that he was Austrian.
In the spirit of the XKCD: I've got the birth certificate of a famous composer that I've just got to show you!
(...and I totally agree with your sentiment, it is noteworthy that Hans is not Austrian)
In this case where he's not from (Austria) is more important than where he is from.
no its relevant becasue usually (always?) national anthemns before sporting events are given by people from that country.
not that it matters though. but it is noteworthy.
I mean Austria and Germany are brother nations after all, aren’t they? 😶
I'm pretty sure he plays keyboard in Video killed the radio star music video.
Wait, really??? I have learned so much today!
Hans Zimmer only puts out bangers.
Leave it to Hans Zimmer to make me think the Austrian National anthem slaps
Honestly, my family all just said this was amongst the greatest anthems before a race, it had energy, was fun to watch and was certainly unique!
Hans Zimmer is just incredible
Yup, best one for sure!
Really cool. Very much like a Devin Townsend song.
Devin Townsend at the Canadian GP when
Thomas Lang on drums. A little bit of double bass as well. I’m surprised they went this hard.
I was expecting him to appear at any moment. Maybe next year.
Next time they should go full strapping young lad
Immediately thought of Devin!
That was actually amazing.. if you're going to be a bit extra with the anthem, this is the way to go.
To think we used to hate the Austrian anthem
Pretty sure 2021 austrian anthem started out like a slipknot song
Thank you
Hans should do every anthem, because this was epic
I’m suddenly more on board with pre-event anthems
Check ojt the 2021 Austrian anthem
That's how it's done!
Brilliant way to do a modern rendition of a classic anthem.
I've been saying for a while that some one or some country needs to jazz up the idea of a national anthem. They're all so boring and old. This performance had a real vibe, what a groove.
Was Thomas Lang one of the drummers?
Definitely looked like him
DW Drums and Meinl Cymbals as well. I'm pretty sure Thomas Lang plays both of those brands
Yes, he was there! Met him there. One of the nicest guys ever. He was teaching the small kids playing with him tricks, during pauses.
Nice, I know him from from one of the Drumeo videos. Absolute beast on the drums and a cool dude as well.
He‘s part of Mygroove.app which is a music learning app, they sourced amateur musicians with this app for the F1 performance, which was pretty cool.
What a legend.
Damn, must have sounded great on your system! : )
Thanks man, if only the stream had good quality sound haha
Kayo/Foxtel FTL
Loved how he was cheering them on when they opened the champagner bottles!
Came here for this comment.
Imagine Alan Parsons and David Gilmour playing the British anthem at Silverstone 🥺
Hans Zimmer the absolute legend
Right up there with the 2022 Azerbaijan performance, incredible!
Has anybody got a copy of the video he did for sky sports opener , it was his commentary over a video, kind of like a montage. It was epic , want to see it again
Need a recording of that. It was awesome!
Hans Zimmer touchdown pose as he got blasted by champagne on the podium makes him legend x 2!
Now I really can't wait to see him perform later this year.
He was really enjoying his time out there today. Such good energy.
He was having a blast during the podium ceremony. The way he stood there in the end waiting for the champagne was hilarious. A joy to watch.
That was so awesome though
This was the best. For once I paid attention
incomparable to the absolute dirge version that gets played at the end when verstappen wins.
Never knew how much I really liked the Austrian National anthem until I heard this!
I have to admit I rather liked it!
Let him cook
I really want a version of this on all streaming services.
Petition for Hans to score the Formula 1 anthem.
Anyone noticed the unbuttoned shirt of Zimmer? The lower 2 or 3 buttons opened - think withouth purpose by the guitar or something
The technology that F1 has... just wow. Close mic'ed drum sounds without a single mic or
a mic cable being visible, hell, the drummers won't even have to play in time and it still comes out perfect.
Very cool but I can definitely only hear a small handful of the instruments
Best anthem song ever
Petition to get him to do every national anthem
The juxtaposition of the banging anthem and the solemn F1 drivers and personnel was funny lol
It's extremely rare for me to say I enjoyed a national anthem, esp as I'm British.
But that was superb!
Sounded like an evening News intro 😅
Being partly a classical musician, I don't like downgrading to the simplicity of pop music, symphonic pieces such as "Land der Berge" and I did not enjoy it. It should stay classy.
I didn’t hear any guitars 🤷♂️
that setup tells me you're single
Haha the partner is watching tv in the other room. This is my theatre.
Was cool but next time close your shirt, Hans, nobody wants to see your pot belly.
The man can wear whatever he wants!
