I would say “tense” instead of strained but you could argue both. “Bekoeld” is more like cooled off. As in, not as good as it once was.

I would imagine that a person in Newey's position, who is essentially just at Red Bull to do a job he could also do for any other team, wants the least amount of drama possible. He's probably not at all interested in the power struggle itself, but I can imagine he also sees a scenario where the Horner/Yoovidhya alliance ends up prevailing as being bad for team chances overall, because then you're not only losing Marko but you're also losing the guy who ends up making the most of your designs, ie Max Verstappen.

So it's totally imaginable to me that Newey probably keeps a professional but somewhat tense relationship with Horner in the sense that he's not gonna outright pick a side but it's not hard to guess for Horner that he doesn't have Newey in his camp.

Based on them WhatsApp messages that nobody yet has denied are real; in the mentions of meetings with Adrian, it sounded like Horner didn't look forward to them.

It's complicated. In the public eye Newey is always seen as a strong force behind the success of RBR, but Horner is often overlooked, despite building the team basically from the ground up. So Horner thinks he doesn't get enough credit. He also thinks that Newey isn't as important in designing a successful car as everybody assumes and that they can do it without him, like most other teams do. And Newey is also one of the top three earners of the team. That means he isn't included in the cost cap calculations, but if he is fired that opens up another spot in the top 3 that in return gives them quite a bit more room in the cost cap

There is a lot of speculation, but it seems like Newey can leave Red Bull if Horner gets fired and Newey stated to people within Red Bull that he would not leave if Horner was fired.

There are rumors that he voiced some sort of soft of support for Helmut Marko.

Again, speculation at this point, but there are rumors that Christian Horner tries to get more control, a stake in Red Bull Racing and possibly tries to buy Red Bull Racing or a large part of Red Bull Racing with outside investors.

He might not want Newey on the pay roll if he becomes a part owner. Newey probably doesn't want to see a shift in power.
