In stepped mode, is there a particular ramp level that will sustain while out hiking without thermal throttling? Assume 90% humidity and 25°C weather
Q8 Plus - is there a stepped ramp level that will sustain without throttling?
DiscussionWelcome to the UK, where 25 Celsius feels like you're drowning in lava 😭
Unsung hero tbf. I just wish it went on sale for what the Q8+ does!
What makes the 3x21B better? I've been considering the Q8+ as my meme cannon/sustained output light. Is there a particular emitter/option that is the go-to for the 3x21B?
Makes sense! I saw a review that measured thermal limit at 80C though (at least for 3x21A), does that negate much of the sustained output benefit if you can't physically hold it?
It has a handle to hold on to for when the body gets too hot
The 3x21b uses an efficent buck driver as opposed to fet/linear drivers like the Q8 (and 3x21a) which means its not needlessly burning energy as heat. As far as leds go, it doesnt have anything other than xhp70.3?
Sure, the first 4 of the default levels shouldnt step down
Cool, cheers. Debating just taking a boost driven D4K instead, but 3x 21700s running at a sustainable level should give me enough juice for the entire trip without needing to charge
A single-cell light with a pair of spare cells is smaller and lighter. I carry a pair of spare 18650's for my vape, and that case plus a D4V2 is far easier to carry than my M44.
That's a great point actually. Might just do that instead then!
For reference the 4th step level is 1000 lumens and it does that for about 12 hours fully charged.
Perfect! Cheers
Oh damn it's Tim. Love your reviews mate. Cheers for the link! Step 4 seems to be the way to go from what people have said. I've had it running for a few hours so far today without any noticeable dip in output and the light is barely more than room temp. So yeah I think ramp level 4 is the way to go!
Almost water cooled lol
