Which driver should i get? [Low effort]
QuestionSo, constant is better? Thanks for the information
I would go for that… I missed that they call it constant v buck/boost.
Testing with a lux meter it's around 10% for a fully charged cell, not worth it imo.
But the buck/boost does have some pretty bad coil whine...
Interesting… I haven’t noticed coil whine the B/B’s I have. On my power supply is hard to get it to deliver the full 15W at <3.8V though.
Might just be mine but it's a distinct 9.1khz if you try with an audio spectrometer?
Currently it's powering an SST-10-UV S12 triple, planning on a 12V boost driven S12 SBT-10X-UV some time later.
No fancy equipment. I just stick them next to my ear.
🙃
Huh. No thermal regulation? What’s the worse case scenario that can happen with no thermal regulation? Kill the light?
The word on the street is that linear will give you a tiny and temporary increase in output but will dim as the battery discharges. It also runs hotter.
The buck boost is more efficient, runs cooler, and will give you consistent performance for the entire discharge cycle of the battery.
The buck boost driver also does not have thermal regulation, so that’s something to consider.
All that being said I prefer the buck boost.
