My bestie was stationed in Japan in the military and when she came home, she tried shopping and exasperatedly asked why everything looks like maternity clothes. We’re both more fit/muscular and these just look awkward and add bulk in the places we most need fitted.
I may have ended up with a few maternity tops from the thrift store because they looked just like the baby doll tops 😂
We needed them to cover all the buttcracks and muffintops exposed by our ultra-low rise jeans.

Babydoll for sure. They make me look pregnant no matter what I do, and no matter how old I am or what weight I am. They look great on everybody else!

As someone who was approached by strangers who thought I was pregnant when I was NOT pregnant but was indeed wearing a babydoll shirt, no, they really do make some people look pregnant no matter what. ::points at own self as Exhibit A::
I have a babydoll style scrub top for work and I thought it was pretty cute until one of patients asked when I was due. Im super skinny and definitely bloat if I have too many carbs but I fully blame the top for being mistaken for being pregnant. I’ve also stopped wearing the shirt after this happened a few too many times in one shift.

I was going to say the same thing! The very last time I wore ( or will wear one) I was with my son at a carnival in full pms bloat. This guy actually patted my belly and asked me when I was due. I wanted to crawl into the ground!
Same thing happened to a girl I knew when she wore one, the pat and everything 😂
It’s a proportion thing. I carry a lot of weight in my chest and midsection so it’s the same on me. Look pregnant no matter what. Even if I lost weight in my midsection there is not enough fabric above the band to support the heaviness on top.

Wow fashion history is repeating. These were all in when I was in 9th grade.
And before that it was 70s and before that it was 60s. The older I get the more I realize every old is new again. Repeat. Repeat.
So just take care of clothes and keep wearing them!! Like I do often ☺️ I wear what I like and forget everyone else because it will come back anyway. I love these clothes no one knows when what fashion is from sometimes.
Exactly! This is why I don't get rid of my clothes unless they're really old and worn out, I have 3 entire wardrobes of clothes and shoes from the late 90's to current day

This is a fantastic guide. It’s made for “reps” but I use it to get 97% of my stuff at home, not reps.
I can find products that are objectively far higher quality than what’s offered here, for.. a fraction of the cost. There’s a learning curve for sure but if you’re comfortable with aliexpress it won’t be impossible. Use a browser with translate. Triple check the seller’s stats.

I believe Peplum has the slightly ruffled section added at the waste seam instead of under the breast like baby doll (or empire).
It's a bit odd because some peplum top seams sit between bust and waist, rather than consistently at the waist. But yes, babydoll empire waist is probably more accurate.
