And plants. You’ve got a good base layer going with everything you have already
Like the Dude says the rug tied the room together
Maybe some books too.
And a few big plants!
Pretty much. The space is beautiful but feels very "hard", there needs to be rugs, blankets and colour to soften everything up a bit.
Yes, more fabric in general! A cozy throw blanket or two on the sectional, or a big basket with blankets in that awkward spot between the TV/mantel and the wall (GORGEOUS lamp btw). Throw pillows in different colors. A rug big enough for the whole couch to fit on top (7'x10' seems like it would work, but I'm not the best at gauging space via photos) and a bright rug in the kitchen in front of the sink that complements the colors of that adorable fridge. Kitchen towels in fun, colorful prints. CURTAINS!!!
I would also change the curtains into something darker to add some contrast.
And curtains edit: scratch that, I didn't even see the curtains in the living room, probably switch for something longer that looks more luxurious in a color that doesn't blend with the wall
Looks awesome! Have you considered painting the walls? Would bring out some of the focal pieces out and cozy up the areas. LOVE your palm lamp, may I ask where you got it??
Paint one or two walls that lucious dark teal!
I also need to know where they got this lamp! Such a cool piece
Omg I found it on amazon for for almost $1,300. I think my house will be ok without lol
Living room area rug!! May I ask where your floor lamps are from? They’re gorgeous to me
I found the gold fern lamp. It’s way out of my budget for lamps…
Well fuck, id fly into that lamp once or twice
Thank you for making a really bad day a little better with that comment 😂❤️
Anytime bb 🦋💖💡😘
🤣🤣🤣
It’s way out of my budget period.
I got a similar lamp off Mercari a few years ago for $100ish
Here’s a similar one for much cheaper: https://www.seventhavenue.com/p/palm-floor-lamp-307195.html
Just turn the floor lamp so the cord goes from the back into the wall and not from the front and around to the outlet 😩
Thank you! The gold floor lamp is from olive & sage but they sadly went under last year. There are similar ones online though!
The pink one is the Gigi floor lamp from Dunelm but it looks like it’s discontinued. There’s a similar one on lampsandlight.
Yes please tell me where you got the floor lamps!
Third the lamps
I saw a similar lamp at home goods for under $200 (I think). It looked like a palm tree kinda and it was brass like that one. Tried to find it online but I couldn’t :/
I got a similar gold floor lamp with palm leafs a few years ago off Mercari. Pretty sure it was less than $100
Way more rugs! Also that turtle art piece feels awkward that high up and alone. I don't really like that the curtains are the same colour as the walls, but that might be a stylistic choice, idk
Came to say rugs and glad to see it’s already been said :)
Rugs and pulling some things toward the middle of the room. A lot is pushed into the corners.
I think what they could do, too, Is pull the couch toward the middle and put one of the lamps on the other side of the couch. And hide the cords 😂😂
I want to see blush pink curtains with that couch! A neutral rug in there, too. (Long white faux fur would look awesome... if you are brave)
Rugs and cafe curtains in the kitchen.
Rug under the dining table and larger art than the turtle (or collage the turtle with other pieces to expand/compliment)
CRAP — curtains, rugs, art, and plants. More of them until you feel like it is cozy but intentional. A lot do your art is small for the space and same with the rugs. Best wishes!!
Omg CRAP that’s amazing
Couch deets pls!
Edit: can we also see a nighttime pic of the living room? The mood lighting situation looks promisingly ideal 👀
Seconded!! In love with that green color 💚
It’s this one in forest green!
How do you find having a velvet couch with a dog? I want one but have a shorthaired dog and worry about the fur situation
Following for couch info
Same
Same
Yes please share! I love the colour of the couch and the kitchen appliances 😍 Need to convince my hubby to let me get them too
If this isn't it, it's very similar:
Damn this is a UK only company. ;---; Was soooo looking to get one of these. Its sooo beautiful!!!
Nice space and love the S M E G S!
The go-to answers to your question: plants and art!
But also, get some cool vintage/antique Oriental/Persian rugs (can find on eBay for less than a new Pottery Barn rug would cost). Add some small bright colored velvet pillows in different shapes and textures. Maybe some jewel tone velvet curtains (not sure what climate you are in so maybe not if it's warm most of the time).
Lastly, I would try to find some interesting antique/vintage things that "speak" to you and put them on the mantle.
Yes, yes and yes!
I saw this in r/malelivingspace and I KNEW a woman had to live there also haha
it doesn’t look like a male lives there to me😅
PLANTS
Came here to say this!!
More dogs...
And more linens and rugs
came here only to comment “more dogs”
Two perfectly good spaces on either side of that fireplace
I love the green and pink combo
Such a great setup, I like the colours. You can try adding character to the walls with wainscoting. Adding family photos.
Storage for sure; in the living room a console cabinet (for video games) would be ideal. As well as a coffee table and/or area rug, would result in a more welcoming atmosphere. Everyone likes a good coffee table book. Mood lighting, such as a side table light, would be great as well. Long colourful curtains would be good!
For the dining room, try adding a table runner as well as a decorative foliage and/or other decor. Change your lightbulbs to a warm white or golden to add comfort. If not an area rug, a pop of colour on the walls would be great.
Plants are a must! Plants will completely change the atmosphere to any room into a more inviting energy. Especially in your home office, plants are great for a good working environment.
You have a dog. You’ve done it 😍
You have a dog, that’s already a huge part of a wonderful home ✨
I very much like your overall aesthetic and color choices. The sofa is really too big for the space. Could the ottoman at least find another home somewhere else in your house? I think moving the golden palm light to where the little pink light is would also help. The curtains are too short and they should not match the walls. Change up the pillow covers on your sofa with different colors and add a throw or two to break up the hugeness if the green sofa. Then add rugs!!! In the one room with the office space you need a bigger rug with more color, another cool chair to create a nook with the existing loveseat and a small coffee table to create that harmonious space. The turtle wall needs more. He looks so sad and small on that big wall. The kitchen is really pretty. Play up the SMEG color a bit more and consider less items in the counters. They look cluttered.
Fill it with love. 💗 And rugs.
You already have the perfect accessory. That beautiful pup of yours makes your house a home. But your decor is lovely.
That fridge though! Beautiful color
Your wall hangings (art, turtle etc) are much too small for those spaces. Thats why it looks empty.
And ... its a bit to clean? :P
Enjoy, be messy, have fun :) Put a throw or two on that couch!
- Add a cat or two to create the chaos and zen moments of a real home… and a couple cat trees and doggie beds
Can you paint the walls?
Also hello precious doggo you are the best good boy or girl yes you are!
I love your kitchen
Pictures of you and your family🫶
I want that lamp.
Plants !
rugs and tall plants!
Your sweet doggo certainly feels at home 🏠
Beautiful home. I'd add some rugs and artwork
this feels so cozy
Lack of blankets 😕
I don’t know how to make it better, but that couch is amazing. I love that color.
Wow I love the frig!
Is that fridge from the sims lol
That fridge is $5k
I have a similar gold floor lamp with palm leafs. I’ve never seen another one. You have impeccable taste
Also seconding rugs to break up the space
I think painting the living room walls would help that room so much, or at least get curtains that are a color. I just have personal qualms with this sort of, nothing shade of tan. The white walls seem nice though, they make the decor pop!
Looks void of any personal style tbh
Less trendy items, more lived-in items
Please tell me where that tall gold palm tree lamp is from I’m obsessed
omg this is my dream space i love it
Bookshelves (with books), family pictures
You definitely have some really nice things. It just needs to be finished
Large area rug in living room, dining room, and office. Possibly a runner in the kitchen
More art through out. Your art isn’t enough to fill the space, you just need to add more or move around some stuff and add larger pieces
Pillows for sofa
One more dog
Examples:
Your pup ❤️🥲
You have a beautiful home! As others have probably stated, definitely a rug for sure!
For the living room, maybe think about a comfy chair for the alcove under the parrot? It looks pretty deep and might help to anchor that little area. On the other side near the window, you could add some closed storage (like a sideboard) or maybe a bookshelf if that's your thing. Either way, adding something in both of these spaces will probably work wonders! I'd also consider buying longer curtains if you have the budget for it, they are a little short for the window and would look great kissing the floor.
Love the color palette and your kitchen is sooooo pretty!
The curtains almost blend into your walls, I think longer floor length colored or patterned curtains would tie things in nicely
Paint the walls, add rugs, find lamps, put up art (yours if you got it), really anything that you like.
I am battling the Boomer Beige walls myself. I have repainted my living room, a bedroom, and the hallway. I had to put down new flooring, so I also changed out the boring base trim. I'm currently making a gallery wall that is jam-packed with local art and mine. I'm repurposing old furniture as I go so I'm not spending a lot of money at one time. I repurposed an alcohol cabinet to a coffee station. I made shelves out of project lumber and spray painted the braces to a color I like before basically haphazardly slapping them on the wall.
That's the stuff I like. I like clutter core / ghibli-esq rooms. Maybe you like minimalism. You can decorate like that with spending little money too. (Probably a lot less 🤣) I say, go wild. Stop the nonsense of "what if you need resell" it's stupid. Live your life. If you rent, I have tricks for putting up pictures with minimal damage, too. You got this!
Throw pillows, a nice area rug and a coffee table in the first room
Edit: larger coffee table as I assume you are using that round end table as a coffee table or use the ottoman as a coffee table and put a tray on it
Gorgeous home! I think a coffee table and some fun colorful pillows in the family room would make it even more cozy!
Rugs PLEASE 😭
paint
Art
rugs, for sure. they warm up a space incredibly well
And plants! J/K
Ooooooo I like that table a lottt
Omg where did you get your couch!?
Oh please, please!!! Tell me where you got that couch
That couch looks like a delightful trap.
I'd get a very epic area rug
Very nice
Some forest green curtains will pop imo
In picture three, I would get rid of all the stuff you have under that picture and the light and put a consul table in there or a sofa style table that will kind of hide the outlet and cords would put a small table lamp on there rather than that big standing lamp
It feels very homey! Maybe some family or friend photos?
Well, you're already off to a great start because that couch color is 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Rugs, plants, art, decor you love.
I love it but it definetly has the type of style that would go with way more colour on the walls and with rugs/artwork
You need a crocheted or knit blanket on the couch.
plants and maybe some personal pictures
The fridge ❤️
rugs
Rugs, plants and picture frames
The wall art you have is too small either put a few pieces together to create volume or bigger pieces.
Rugs art plants!
Ok that fridge is super cute. And you have a cute dog. You have a home.
I think painting the walls in rich complimentary colors would be nice.
curtains will help soften hard edges and make the space more homey! make sure to put them near the ceiling, and you dont have to make all the curtains the same, you can have fun with it !i like what you have so far, but i have to agree, rugs and plants are something i would add as well.. and maybe some other soft light sources !! lighting can play a big roll in making a space feel more warm and less bright ❤️ hope this helps
Just here to say you have my dream couch!!
Rugs and plants should be near the top of the list. When you’re done please update cause this place will be nice
Rugs, artwork, paint, plants
sorry for replying with a question, but where are the window blinds from?? they look exactly like the kind of window treatment im looking for. i have 8ft tall french doors on my balcony, hardwood trim w/ roughly 80 inches of window. im renting so drilling into the wooden doors is not an option. been using paper redishades, which only cover 3/4th of the length and are so inconvenient to operate!!
I’m recommending that you consider creating a “road map” for your design project. Think about what you and your family gravitate to in your life. Activity, where you dream about visiting, colors, and fabrics. I like items like pillows and throws that you can purchase at a reasonable cost and then you can change them with the seasons.
NO WAY!! You have a SMEG fridge?! Lucky!!!
House looks beautiful. I would add plants, more wall art and rugs 🙌
Framed family photos! Sentimental tchotchkes.
Plants & art.
Keep some plants like money plant, zz plant, monstera . It’ll add some life to your house
Textured/contrasting pillows on the couch. Hiding your cables for electronics (they make cable hiders for that). Rugs in your kitchen (and probably in some other key places). (Pet-safe) plants. More/various splashes of color.
I like your house! The right sized and color rugs always add immensely to any room. Also, you need larger art pieces on the walls.
Obsessed with this couch, new goal for my future home
Art and plants and shelves with nicknacks and photos
You need some greenery and some color on that sectional to help break up the big green block…. Definitely an oversized area rug that will take up a decent stretch out from the sectional and I think a fun pop of color by way of a patterned wallpaper on the fireplace bump out wall would be fun! I’m a freelance designer, so feel free to send me a message any time! ✌🏻🤟🏻🤘🏻
Love. And a rug.
Family photos
I love your couch!!! What brand is it?!
Besides a 5x8 area rug, try pulling the ottoman away from the corner, and put a hanging lamp, like the one you have, but larger, in the corner behind the couch. Some accent pillows would warm things up with another color from the rug. Another table like the one you have could be useful too. Take your time. Decorating is a stroll, not a marathon.
maybe some framed photos of you and your fam/friends 🤍
Rugs would really tie the rooms together 😎
Beautiful place. It looks cozy. If you trying to add a home feel add stuff you and the people your living with will like or is a part of. Pictures, paintings, figure, statues, books, plants, etc.
Rugs and carpet will help a lot too.
The place looks amazing but if your trying to make it feel like a home you need to add personality
I’m so sorry but welcome to the club r/tvtoohigh
You need a rug. Then you need to get some other matching fabric / textiles in the form of pillows and/or throws. This will add color and make it cozy.
Rugs, artwork, plants, curtains, and maybe some fairy lights (if you're into that lol).
The gold leaf one❤️
Your fridge is everything to me
I love that couch
I think some plants would also look lovely, a nice rubber tree or fiddle leaf fig, or a palm of some kind, a pothos, that sort of thing!
A colour palette. Research about it and then stick to a colour palette.
Big BIG rugs. Plants. Lamps. Kitchen Island. That round green one is funny the way its positioned in the middle of the room like that. Search google on how to position rugs.
It already has a vibe, add rugs and curate things along life's way. This gives a warm, relax here feeling.
Its so cute to me! I love how clean it looks while still having personality. But um.. get that yankee candle off your dining room table. Get rid of the center placemat. Instead maybe acquire a cool modern vase you like and go to trader joes and get pussywillows - theyre everlasting and kinda minimal and beautiful! I also think investing in a better light for the dining room would be good. The black industrial wire is a little rough compared to how everything else feels. Ikea has great cheapnlighting. I could see a rattan hanging lamp. Also get two pieces of art that you enjoy that compliment each other and out them where the seaturtle is. In the kitchen maybe put a pothos intop of the cabinet. Maybe get some cute dish towels with personality from anthropologie or something. You could also probably have less stuff on the countertops.
Macramé and wicker shit
I actually don’t necessarily think your living room needs a rug but definitely some throw pillows and blankets! Would also trunk your tv cable so it snakes the wall, put some plants in here and there, and add some art to build a gallery wall around your turtle.
I think it’s beautiful, maybe a bigger art piece in the dining room or a mirror, definitely some lovely, fluffy (personal preference) rugs!
rugs, change of curtains, plants!
Paint!! Get some color on the walls!
Rugs, blankets, different coloured pillows, and a bigger coffee table in the living room.
A bar under the parrot print or an arm chair for a cozy nook.
Add a buffet/credenza in the dining room.
Larger scale art pieces or a number of smaller art pieces, like a gallery wall
You already have a dog, your home is complete!
You have a beautiful golden on your couch, what more could you possibly want?😊
Where is your couch from??
Cute dog. Your house is complete!! Well done.
Umm by sending me that couch. Where did you buy it and is it actually comfy?
A lot of things are lovely already. Especially those kitchen appliances! 🤩
Specific things I'd do: - would hide cables around the TV with cable trays - office space is very white and feels somewhat cold, personally I would see if different, warmer flooring would be an option - same thing with the kitchen: a warmer floor would compliment it better - rehome the turtle and go with a BIG wall-art for the dining area - get some samples and consider bolder/more colorful curtains in the living room - agree with everyone saying rugs, I do really like the one you already have in the office space
Omg I love that sun room / office!
Rug. Longer curtains. Plants.
I love that fridge. It is criminal to have no plants in that sunroom. Also I'm sorry but r/tvtoohigh
Looks like a home. Some live tall plants in nice pottery or plant holders, hanging plants and flowers of course will live it up .
A rug in the living room
Paint the walls. Maybe a burnt sienna in the living room
A big circle mirror in dinning area or nice piece of art
Love your sofa! Built-ins on either side of the fireplace would be good for storage and display of books etc. I would switch the mirror in the dining room to something with a gold frame. Consider a round dining table as well because the chairs are gorgeous. Add rugs, plants too.
Usually by living in it…
PLANTS 🌱
I love your place. So many cute pieces of furniture. Where did you get that lamp?
Area rug, throw blanket, ottoman, more cozy things, etc.
Edit: Just realized your couch basically had an ottoman lol But that makes me consider how your couch kind just loses it stunnning color bc its just blending into itself. I would add some colorful or textured throw pillow to help the couch pop more and to also add more cozy and personalized feelings to the space.
Just get things that make you cozy and happy and add them to any space you want to feel less sterile. :)
dude your house is decorated like how i want mine to be! lol i'm just too broke to live the dream rn xD only thing i'd add to yours is rugs, like some have already suggested. and maybe make some art for the bigger emptier walls? if you cant/don't want to paint or wallpaper them
And personal photos into your decor. Like family photos and good memories. It'll give nostalgia and homey appeal.
Also, rugs and maybe some throw blankets and pillows for the couch.
More dog toys and dog treats
And a massive dog bed for the good pup 🐶
Get a man, a dog, a wife, two kids and a bear
This house is DOPE!!!!! It is a home!!!! Love it!
Gallery wall on the dining room!!
Take the TV off the wall and put it on a console in the space beside the fireplace. Put cute art up.
Looks like one now
My go to is always family pictures, plants and shelves or bookcases with knickknacks and various things that are special to me
Move that pretty lamp to the left or right of the couch so it’s a focal point. Get larger artwork. Pull the couch away from the window. Get bookshelves for the two walls flanking the TV
Pictures! A house with pictures on the wall always feels homely to me. And rugs and plants, got to add texture ☺️
Area rugs, plants, throw pillows and blankets. I love your couch btw! 😍
A console/sideboard under the parrot picture rather than a small table.
Your house still looks better than mine btw
You can add some shelves on the fireplace wall and add rugs to the living room and dining are, and also design the empty wall in dining room as an accent wall
I would suggest moving the sofa pieces out in the hallway to the living room and putting a colorful rug on the floor in the living room. Also the turtle 🐢 is very small for the dining area and I would suggest 2 large botanical leaf pictures there.
You already have a dog and a comfy couch and a neat, clean environment. Life is good.
Having a home is about the inhabitants and making everyone welcome. Museums are filled with expensive art and such, but who would want to live there? You have a good place.
I would change the set-up of the desks. One should be facing the back to the right wall and the other one with the back to the windows, facing the direction from which the picture was taken.
Rugs and runners are an easy addition.
Aside from the usual rugs/plants/art....you need things that reflect you, and your interests. Things collected on travels, books (and bookcases either side of the fireplace), handmade pottery and other similar things, children's drawings (if you have children). Don't expect or look for instant results. A home evolves and changes over time.
Couch details please as well(:
