Going Farmall, go tricycle!
This tricycle front is starting to grow on me.
ScreenshotI have an issue with the HP they represent in the older equipment. Example, my Dad’s biggest tractor was an 1976 IH 766 diesel. I believe the drawbar HP was around 85.
He pulled a 5 bottom 18” plow with it in heavy ground and it really handled it well. Probably could have gone with a 6 bottom plow.
The game treats a tractor with that power like a garden tractor or something.
I think the thing is a lot of the older tractors had a lot of torque for their horsepower, and that's not very well represented in the game.
HP is work over time. Torque is pure force. A high torque low HP tractor could move a big plow, but it won't do it fast.
The difference between a 50hp 300lb-ft tractor and a 50hp 100lb-ft tractor is not how fast it can plow a field, but how easily (or whether or not at all) it can get its plow moving up to operating speed and how well it breaks through tough spots.
The Case 150 (meant as rated 150 hp) pulled a 44 bottom plow, but it's not fast. It measured almost 5000 lb-ft engine torque at around 180 rpm, which would put it around 170 hp engine horsepower. The torque driving the wheels would be highly multiplied by gearing.
Yea I can understand that. I had a plow rated at 10 over the HP of a farmall i had and it could barely do anything.
I highly recommend deer lands and the white farm as a stop gap for this.
Definitely agree, but in the meantime, both maps work pretty well.
I want them to be used up. Rusty old cheap starter tractors and break down. All this 40-100k for old tractors makes me feel like I’m buying a collectors item out of a museum and then running it in a field.
If and when FS25 comes, it should be a dlc pack focused on antique farming with maps, tractors, harvesters etc with period correct pricing and crops.
Would be cool to be able to resurrect old equipment from the woods or around old buildings
I vote for a medieval mod with a wooden plow that can be pulled by an ox, a medieval map and clothing options.
Absolutely agree. I've been scrounging for the best old equipment mods, but its tough out there.
I love my JD 4320 tricycle. Wish there was more options in the came for equipment that would work with them though.
I'm desperate for a working 5020. A 6030 would be even better.
I love all the vintage equipment. I have my main farm on elm creek, fields 37-43 all in one. Has all the new and big equipment. Then on 37 I have a smaller farm, using all vintage/old equipment. Just hits different using the stuff I grew up around in game.
Yeah man. My family's land was farmed by almost entirely 40 series and the low grunt of the engine gives me instant nostalgia.
My grandfather had a 40 series. Wasn’t for farming but all sorts of chores around the yard/land he had. I remember the first time he let me drive it, jeez I think I was 8, decided to try and Dukes of Hazard it off a rock pile cause I couldn’t see past the hood. My mom was PISSED. He still has it, works a small 1/4” acre field for personal use.
How is the turning radius?
Turns on a dime. It’s pretty funny watching the workers spin it around.
I’ve got some smaller tractors I use for hay that I’m thinking about turning into trikes so you really got me thinking about it now
Is this DLC? I’ve never seen the old tractors
There’s a few of them in the mod hub for free.
I’d assume not for consoles 😔
I’m on Xbox S
How do you get mods on Xbox?
In your game you scroll down to “Downloadable content”
You have changed my life, no idea the console had mods lol.
For sure, also explore the different tabs, latest downloads, recommended etc
We really need more antique style farm tractors and implements with a themed map.
