Would you buy this? I think it would interfere with aerodynamic efficiency too much.

While this makes zero sense for your typical commuter, it could make sense for someone camping or leaving their car parked for more than a few days. For example at a trailhead, or an airport.
Or apocalypse scenario. Have had friends argue ICE will be more reliable because they'll be able to "find" gas. Uh huh...
Gas will only obtained by draining someone else's tank the day after the apocalypse. Mostly, it will get spilled. 1 year out, almost no one will still have any. Long before that, driving around will get you gas-jacked.
Not according to The Walking Dead. Humans can still find gas for their ICE vehicles years after the Zombie Apocalypse.
In the later seasons they mostly use horses.
How do they convince a horse to get in a fuel tank?
You can lead a horse to your gas tank, but can't make it get in.
in their scenario it somewhat makes sense as so many people died so quickly that the consumption of existing gas basically just stopped.
if you would find a single gas station that has gotten a delivery shortly before the apocalypse that could last you for years.
and since gas stations have proper storage tanks the gas will also last a lot longer than it would otherwise.
Not really, as gas will go bad after about a year.
thats a common myth.
the truth is gas starts to degrade after about a year but that does not mean it just spoils like milk and is unusable from one day to the other.
it certainly wont get any better but especially in engines without direct injection you will be able to use the gas for many years but of course will have some loss of peak power.
Not according to The Walking Dead
yes i have seen this documentary and fully believe in it /s
It's the sap from the bullet tree.
1 year out it will be oxidized booze. Gas has a shelf life of like half a year
Most modern vehicles can store gas for 2-3years before it actually breaks down to the point the vehicle won't start. Fuel Tank storage on 90-20's vehicles is vastly more stable than 60-80s and additionally the engines are more forgiving of the fuel they are given.
Years, if it is in a sealed container.
my lawnmower uses last seasons gas (never gets drained) and the gas can gets filled less than once a year. i also have a car i added gas only once last year.
this is incorrect.
Your lawn mower just has a resilient engine. I feel bad for its spark plugs.
Spark plug doesn't care. Its just been craving gasoline for a whole winter. ;)
I parked our 1999 Honda for x3 three years. It started and ran fine afterwards.
1 year out, almost no one will still have any. Long before that, driving around will get you gas-jacked.
And even if somebody still has some, it will go bad right around that time.
