The ones I hate the most are roofing attacks. They literally fall point up and have a plastic backing to keep them from falling over
Those are for foam sheathing.

Been there on much smaller tire. A 26mm wide tire no less on my road bike(non-electric). I was like "What?! How!? How is that even possible?!!!" Big old screw just like that. It even punctured my PVC rim tape and left a dent in the rim. I was so pissed.
I got a rear flat today also.

Where do all these screws come from?
I'm starting yo think there are entirely too many shiny new screws and nails in the road to be accidental.

Tannus armor claims to stop 90% of flats. My guess is that this falls in the last 10%. The screw hit straight in the middle of the rear wheel on my quite heavy loaded long tail and was pushed by the weight of the bike all the way to the rim.
I’ve put a nail through a tannus before and it was right where you got punctured. That being said, they have done quite well for me over the ~2000mi I’ve used it for.

On 4 inch tires?
I bought tannus armor and within a week I had a flat 🥲 returned it fast. Just got slime and an extra tube on me now
How much did those run you? Worth the price? Also seen them flatten terribly over time. Thoughts?

I've ridden home on just a tire. Smoked the tire but rim was fine. I've seen those tannus 20x4 at $180cad. Or a $50 tire... also fixed numerous flats on roadside and trailside.
I guess there's a reason they're not more popular. You have any evidence of them actually stopping a flat or used them after running them flat?

I ride alot (20k km a year). Luck plays a part but no I don't think I'm explicitly doing anything wrong. Is the insert junk after a certain # of miles/km?
I have tannus on my real wheel. I was getting a flat a week and after installing Tannus 2 months ago not a single flat. About once a week I'll check the tire and pull out any debris it's collected.
If I needed another set, I'd diy something. I have them on my ebike and when I opened the box I was like "really? Over $100 for this?"
That said.... I haven't gotten a flat since.

I just bought a bag of flat out. Yet to put it in. It's supposed to stop gashes up to 1/2 inch.
It works, but not at 1/2 inch. Ask me how I know… 😫

FYI a hole in the outer tire is no problem, as long as your inner tube gets fixed :)
I have a few holes in mine, fixed the tube, and we driving..!
You can fix this easily with a tire fix kit. It comes with rubber glue/cement, a rubber noodle, a round file for roughing up the hole and a tool to insert the rubber noodle which is soaked in rubber cement beforehand. You insert it in the hole, set it cure, cut off the access and it should outlast the tyres lifetime.
I will fix it. I’m going to try the method of using a plug cut from an old tire and a regular tube patch on the inside before I buy a whole kit
The physics of this situation are interesting. I guess the front tire flips the screw to vertical, then the rear tire gets the bad news.
My guess is that it is launched backwards bouncing and if you are unlucky it ends up with the sharp end towards the tire and wedged against the ground

I think it was outside the new city administration building so it was probably them who didn’t pay enough for proper construction waste management
There's a reason why roofers and good builders will have a laborer walking around the site with one those switching magnets, picking up the stray hardware. I guess they gave the job to somebody's brother-in-law.

Those tyres suck anyway. You can see small stones in the holes already
They collect a fair amount of stones which I remove periodically, they don’t seem to damage the tire all that much as far as I can see. I’ve had these tires for about 4000 miles and this is my second flat.
Use Flatout. It works well.
Just pull it out and let the FlatOut you put inside the tube/tire seal the hole and you'll be fine.
You did remember to put FlatOut in your tires the day you got your bike, right?
I’m generally skeptical towards liquid sealants. They work fine for small punctures but tend to turn larger holes like this one into a gooey mess
that's a tiny hole I've had flat out seal much bigger just recently.. you just need to actualy unscrew the screw so it doesn't rip a bigger chunk out of the tube
The tear in the tube was about half an inch. The screw hit the rim and must have wiggled around a fair bit
I’m actually leaving the the emergency room I was on a bike ride and a great Dane T-bone my son’s child trailer knocking it completely on the Side side. Luckily he didn’t hit his head, but we had to go get him checked out in the emergency room anyways quite a scary situation to be honest.
