I'm in the process of moving houses and tomorrow I planned to rent a van from Enterprise to take all the boxes to my new place. Unfortunately, 2 days ago, I had the brilliant idea to send off my driving licence to the DVLA to update my address. I still have my driver CPC card, and I can always pull up an online check code, however Enterprise's T&Cs specifically say "digital licenses are not allowed". Has anyone dealt with Enterprise before? How strict are they? If I can't rent a van tomorrow I'm completely stuck, I need to move out by the 1st of July.
How far are you moving?
If it's not far, suck up the cost of a man with a van to do the shift.
If it's far, suck up the cost of a man with a van to move your stuff to nearby storage, then hire a van when you get your licence back to take it to your end destination.
While I've always found Enterprise quite flexible, I'm not sure they'll accept a check code, which isn't photo ID. All you can do is try I suppose but you'll want your backup option ready.
Thanks. I didn't consider the option of storing my stuff somewhere temporarily, that why it's always great to get other people's perspective.
Yeah not ideal, but might be your best option if you're moving far.
Last time I moved 2 years ago, I drove an LWB van from London to Scotland. It cost a few hundred including fuel, but the cost of a proper moving company was like 10x that.
We did it when we moved, as we'd ordered stuff for the new house that we couldn't physically keep in the current house, storage costs were reasonable at £56 a month for a mid size container. Always worth a check unless you can get a friend to hire the van for you and do some driving for you
