I don't want old companions on the DA:D squad [no spoilers]

I’m hoping they retire Varric at some point in the story, honestly. As much as I love seeing returning characters, I think his arc has effectively run its course.

Dorian will probably hold an advisor role given his involvement in Tevinter politics/hierarchy and I would imagine there to be some minor follow-ups from Inquisition mentioning characters we’ve met, if not seeing one or two in some capacity.

But on the whole, I’m ready for some fresh faces with perhaps some more variety in their classes. As much as I loved having three mages (and tanks) available to me, I’m hoping they’ve implemented new classes or multi-classing—not just for combat, but also for story. Having a blood mage character interacting with a circle mage for example, might lead to some interesting banter or story choices. Or maybe we get another warrior elf, or we recruit a Qunari rogue etc. subvert my expectations! 😛

But yes, new companions all the way. Grumpy ones, silly ones, sketchy ones, heroic ones, I want to discover the story through them and the world they live in. Since it’s a new setting, I want new companions. Heck, even our main character is new! We don’t have history (as far as we know) with previous characters so it’ll be nice to start on a blank slate, especially for role playing.
