I thought they decided for you, like you can’t pull up the second delivery destination without finishing the first one.

You can change who you deliver to first. At the top of your screen next to the blue shield symbol are three stacked lines. If you click on those, it will bring up a task list that shows both pick ups and drops. You click on "jump to task" and you can choose which task you do first.

with DD you totally can. Another reason why I was so pissed because I realized last minute that the 2nd dude was a regular. Why I really should remember the regular and good customers so I always know when to make a switch

They all do this. My wife used to order Uber eats and since she's been a server/bartender/restaurant manager for 20+ years, she tips 20%plus. Every single time our order was paired with an order going to the hood first. Not saying all hood dwellers don't tip, but since I am a driver, I know the percentage is low. Never again, we just cook our own food now or pick our orders up.

The problem too is that you knew the second customer was a regular yet DD controls all methods of the delivery. Which order is filled first. The whole process has zero control from the courier. They violate the independent contractor vs employee test on every aspect, yet nothing is changed from any lawmaker. They are all bought off. It is criminal.

Go to the top left corner. You either click on the store you want to pick up from first or the customer you want to deliver to first then at the bottom in red it will say “jump to task” click it.

In my area there are too many long distance deliveries that tip shit and too many people short distances that will tip well. I’d say 30% of the time, at least, it is the shorter distance tipping the most.

I think it’s because the long distance ones pile up.

But they ultimately lose as well, cause yes they eventually find drivers to deliver, but every new driver reaches a breaking point and passes on shit orders. It is inevitable, except they are in dire need for any and every cent they can get.

i mean, my market is way oversaturated with new driversin my market. i did DD for 2 weeks in november last year..got all the "new hire" incentives then quit as soon as they took it away

i still see an incredible amount of DD ads posted advertising 1k/week (only possible if you work 12hrs/day here).

to this day i still see people walking around safeway shopping with brand new DD bags etc..

Oh I’m sure they get new ppl all the time, but like myself once I lost the privileges, I just only go on it sometimes and if I don’t get an order within 15 minutes and it is a good one, I accept orders from other apps, ubereats and Instacart. Those come in a lot faster. DD is over saturated yes, but just as many new drivers they have, they lose once they figure out the shady methods that DD imposed on a driver.

I used to clear $120 or more from 11:30pm to 1am with a $3 peak pay per order and base pay per order doing stacks for college kids. Those were the days… short distances and could knock out a stack in 10 min doing em back to back. It was incredible and now not only did they stop doing the base pay per order they stopped doing $3 peak pay late nights except for weekends. BS

I stopped ordering from doordash awhile ago, but other carriers do it too. I always tip really well when I order food this way (it's rare). It amounts to me often waiting longer for my food because they started sticking my order with crappy orders. My food was completely ice cold last time (pizza for reference). I swore that I am done with delivery.

I really hope doordash would see these types of comments to know how absolute TRASH this system is and it’s actually causing loss in the long run… coming from a driver thank you for your kindness when you were a customer. if there was any way to know for sure to give you priority, we would do it.

I was a driver too for a few when I first got divorced and needed income that I could f*ck off from when my kids needed me. It used to be possible to give priority to better tippers. Too many cheapos doordash wants to keep paying their fees though, so they do everything to hide it from drivers or coerce into accepting a bad deal. Generally contract work takes into account competitive rates and living expenses. Not doordash though.

They don't care, they get paid whether there is a tip or not so they will always want the oldest order to be dropped off first. This is probably part of the reason a lot of good tipping customers have stopped ordering. There are way more no and low tip customers, which are the ones that keep doordash in business

Yeah but theres no way to know which order is tipping or not anymore. So theres no point organizing it that way. I only really mess with that menu if theres a restaurant i know is slow, and i have a shop order with like 1-2 items. Otherwise its pointless now

You can tell if you have a regular customer, though, that tips fairly well. You will get single deliveries to them. That, and name usually pops when you arrive at the store/restaurant. It is important to note the good tippers.

Once you see a name, after arriving at the store, you can double check the address, and if it is the same address and name, you will know they are good tippers. Or you can get there by recognizing the name, address, restaurant/store they order from, and the tips at the end.

I decline most stacked orders unless I know the tipping habits of at least one of the customers. Which case I'll accept, then either unassign or complete both orders depending on information I already know.

There were a couple cases recently where the total pay was so good that I just couldn't decline, despite not being familiar with either customer. The first time, as expected, one of the customers didn't tip. The second time, however, the tip was about evenly split between both orders, so at least with that one I didn't deliver one of them for free.

Stacks used to pay $2 per order. Now it's just base pay for one, MAYBE a little more if you're lucky.

They are going to optimize this until it makes the most money for the investors. DD doesn't care about tips and no-tips, both customers are worth exactly the same to them. As for drivers, someone will eventually accept that dash or they'll just tell the customer no drivers are available.

You mean the executives. At this point they are the only ones making money. The early investors in a pyramid type scheme get paid, the later ones get the shaft. Executives are just milking now until it's dry. They'll bail when the economy collapses completely and then blame it on that. If they bail without a scapegoat it could cause investigations and suits. UPDATE: I've gotten several stacked orders since making this comment. On all those orders, the 1st order was the non-tipper. However, I'd have to pass the non-tipper's home to get to the tipper. So yeah, they would definitely freak out if they were watching their phone. Now I'm not so irritated, because the non-tipper is usually really close, and the tipper is a mile or 3 out.

Pairing tippers with non-tippers is an integral part of the DD business plan and has been for quite a while.

That's really the key way that they get those no tip/low tip orders delivered.

Agreed. Stacked orders are bullshit. The worst part of stacked orders is when you’ve picked up the first order, but the second order is taking a long time so DD gives you the option to unassaign from the second order, but gives you absolutely no information on what the pay will now be. It’s fucking ridiculous. We’re supposed to be independent contractors and they give nothing to make make an informed decision with.

The only way orders should be allowed to be stacked is if you’ve already accepted a single order, and only then give you an offer for another order. BOTH should have base pay.

Those of us who have been doing this for a while remember the good old days when you could see the value of each order in a stack. Your CR could go as low as 80%, so you had room to unassign the crappy order.

Now, not only can you not see the value, even if you could, you'd have to worry about keeping your CR at 90% or above, or even higher with the new tier system.
