What’s the normal speed you listen to Distractible at? I just released mine at 1.75x which seems completely normal to me I tried the other speeds but it doesn’t sound right. Others say it sounds to fast but it’s so perfect and normal to me lol.
What speed do you listen at?
QuestionI was beginning to think I was the only one who listens to pods at normal speed.

I tried but it causes me mental anguish lol I just listen to the episodes it 3-4 times
Why do you listen to podcasts then if you dont mind me asking
Why wouldn’t I? I work 8+hours a day and I don’t care for music always and I love listening to these guys talk… it doesn’t sound sped up to me and I don’t have it that way to listen faster. I have listened to this podcast 4 times now and I enjoy it every time.
More power to you i guess, i also suggest brainjuice jack and ethen are also great

What have I started
Wtf is a collectible expression?
YOU DID THIS
We all know which one is leak and which one is brain.
I somewhat get it.

People speed up the episodes? Tf?
The thing is for me it doesn’t seem sped up. It sounds completely normal to me. And I have never messed with my settings so this is how I’ve always listened to all my podcasts apparently.
Yeah, you probably messed yourself up a bit with that. The feeling is definitely valid, but you should probably try to train yourself back to 1x.
Yah I don’t know. It just feels nice in my brain. My thoughts always seem to race faster then the rest of me so it just kinda fits? If that makes sense
I feel that and it's definitely going to feel better, but I don't think that's something you want to get used to? Idk, I have nothing to back it, but it just feels like a bad thing to do. Lol
I understand that.
Well I just went and did some reading and it seems like there aren't really any negative effects to speed listening, so long as you gradually increase the speed you listen at (roughly 10% increase at a time, not sure if there's an upper limit though.)
I can't find anything about how it affects your listening comprehension in real life to normal speech rates, unless you're learning a second language. Really interesting overall, but yeah, guess you're good as far as I can find lol.
As far as I know it’s always seemed like this to me I’m 34 now and I have always had a hard time focusing on things that seem slower?
Do you have memory issues? Like hard to recall information? Does it seem easier to recall things from life or from things you've listened to? Who knows, your brain might just be like that.
Yah I have always had trouble remembering things from when I was younger. It weird because I read really fast to but that just makes my dyslexia worse. Mark has always seemed to be a fast talker and that’s one of the reasons I love listening to him. Now I gotta check if my YouTube is sped up to… My playback speed on YouTube is normal. They sound the same to me YouTube and my podcast
Ol mate is operating at a higher brain speed than all the rest of us normies
I prefer to not listen to chipmunks so... normal 1X speed.
It doesn’t sound like that to me. That’s so interesting! They sound so weird and slowed down to me
I do x1 to make it last.
I just re-listen a few times lol
I—….
Did... did people REALLY just f*ckin dislike you 18 times because of your grammar? Wild.
Oh, I’m getting a lot of like low-key hateful comments just because I don’t listen to stuff the same as they do it’s wild😅
I haven’t given a single down vote to any comment even the kind of hateful ones
It be like that sometimes. Don't ever change.
(Side note, I listen to audio books on audible at 2X speed. And when I finish it, my friends always say That " it doesn't count it needs to be at 1X speed," so i know where you're coming from.)
I understand speeding up educational materials, but speeding up this masterpiece... THAT'S HERESY!
The weird thing is that it doesn’t seem sped up to me
I actually slow it down to make it last longer
1x speed. I didn't even realize that people listened at different speeds. That would give me a headache.
It sounds completely normal to me lol it tickles my brain in a good way
1.2x speed for me, just a little faster than normal
Same
Anything above 1.5 is probably bad for your attention span lmao
Haha I’m 34 I’ve had next to no attention span for most of my life but the faster cadence helps me and feels completely normal. It doesn’t sound fast to me.
adhd?
Yes😅 haha
Bro is a crack addict
You snitching? 👀
You speed-running the podcast or something? xD
This actually reminded me of Mark making fun of his fans who watch things on 2x speed lol
I was thinking about this to lmao I thought about that video! But it sounds so normal to me I wish I could insert a clip I recorded the 1x sounds so slow
Haha, yeah, now that I think about it, I always used to watch videos at 1.5x or at least 1.25x but suddenly stopped for some reason
I listen to it at 2.5 like a sane human being (jokes)
Lmao I like living in a world of chaos
My wife and I took this online Birthing course and played a lot of the person's videos at 1.5x, because they talked very slowly and methodically and we're both neurodivergent, so I get this.
I listen to my podcasts at 1x, typically
is it just distractible you listen at 1.75 speed, or just in general like youtube and such?
All my podcasts I listen to at that speed apparently. I never really noticed until now it was sped up. And now if I try listening to it at normal speed it sounds wrong to me.
1x, helps it last throughout the work day.
It just sounds so weird I tried but it’s like they are talking in slow-Mo I don’t know if it’s Apple Podcasts or what but it doesn’t sound right at 1x
Probably just the force of habit, when I needed to quickly repeat for an exam in uni I relistened all the recorded lectures on 2x speed and it felt really slow on normal afterwards.
1.1 like my podcast subtly speedy.
A person with taste
I listen to podcasts at Edit: 1x speed- it sounds like normal conversation that way. I do listen to audiobooks at either 1.5-1.75x speed depending on how slow the narrator decides to go. The pauses in audiobooks kill me.
To me the guy speaking at 1.75 sounds completely normal, but according to all the comments that’s completely asinine to think that .
I don’t think it’s asinine- listen the way you enjoy the podcast. I’d say you are listening harder than the rest of us but there’s some mad lad in the comments that goes at 2x so sorry but you just missed the gold.
I’m surprised the podcast sounds normal at that speed for you though since you listen to the YouTube stuff at 1x. I’d figure the boys would have a similar enough cadence 1.75 would be too fast.
Honestly, the podcast sounds perfect to me and I’ve listen to every episode almost every episode like more than four times now and I enjoy each and every time I just makes you feel less alone you get me?
Oh yeah, I’ve had the guys playing near non stop in some form or another since before they were doing 3 Peens- the background noise of friends chatting/playing games helps me focus on my work tasks.
But I keep the podcast and the videos on the same speed (sounds like you may have accidentally hit something).
You aren’t listening hard enough OP.
If it makes up for it I listen to it like 3-2 times. I’m listening so hard I swear
Normal for me. 🫢😘
I’m thinking Apple Podcasts must play 1x slower because I keep trying to listen at normal but it’s so comically slow I just don’t know 😅😂
I tend to watch everything at 1.25x speed.
100x speed. That way I can listen to every single episode of distractible in 2 hours
😂 I know it seems crazy. The only thing that ever sounds like it’s sped up it the add reads by the sponsors other than that it’s normal to me
1.5, which is actually my usual YouTube speed too. But if stuff gets too involved or I’m distracted doing something else too much I’ll sometimes slow it down to 1.25 or even 1x depending.
Mind you, I have a HUGE backlog of a bunch of shows I listen to, so yeah, I started that as a way to try and keep up with my subscriptions. It is crazy how quick your brain adapts to it and it begins to sound normal
I get that. I’ve went down to 1.5 and it still sounds good and normal to me I watch YouTube on normal and it sounds the same as my podcast. So I don’t know. I have never changed those settings it was the default when I downloaded the app.
Normal if it's a new one, full speed to binge
I have accidentally changed the speed on my watch while going to sleep more times than I can count. The funny thing is if wade or mark are talking it takes me a while to realize because they will sometimes talk super fast but as soon as bob starts talking I’m like woah woah woah what’s going on why is bob speaking fast and realize it’s sped up since bob is so like steady.
The cadence in which Wade and Mark speak is just beautiful lol
1.5 for all my podcasts
This is about the same kind of energy as someone watches videos in 1.25x or 1.5x speed. I don’t get that with people
I watch videos in normal speed. My YouTube is set to normal. I’m sorry my brain doesn’t work just like yours.
1x or 1.25x. For Brain leak, 1.5x
brain leak
1.75x is alright for jazz, podcasts should be at 2x or you’re just a beta
Or, you know, just enjoy the damn thing, it’s not an exam you’re trying to cram for
2x I have a lot of podcasts to listen to
x1 to not miss any ship of theseus jokes
Just 1x sounds weird to me when I speed up stuff becomes incomprehensible to me I already tend to rewind allot lol
That’s a beautiful thing about knowing what you like you can do it in the way that’s best for you and get the full experience that makes you happy❤️
When I was catching up with episodes it'd be anywhere from 1.5 to 2x. Sometimes my brain's processing is faster or slower than other days. 🤷🏻♀️
But now it's 1x to savor the hour. I listen to a handful of podcasts but Distractible and 2 others are my fave comfort podcasts that I like to make last to add to my days~
YouTube videos however, I feel you, 1.5 speed 🤣
I never changed my speed settings so this is how I listen to all my podcasts. It sounds so normal to me I tried slowing it down after I noticed it was faster but it sounds off to me now.
I listen at 1,8x speed. Don't listen to the haters, whatever speed you want to listen is fine.
Thank you! I didn’t listen faster on purpose it honestly sounds best 1.5x1.75 the 1x sound like someone slowed it down. Every word it like drawn out it cat be right. No way they normally sound like that
1.2x I can still hear it perfectly and it cuts off a little time so I can listen to 2 of them.
0.25x speed for me. I want to marinate in each episode
Sorry gotta do x1.5 or my brain gets bored or any audio media 😭😭
2x for almost all media!
This guy really expected other people to listen at speeds other than 1x
I mean I’m a girl. I didn’t expect anybody to listen to things the same way I do because everybody’s different and that’s OK all I wanted to know is what everybody else did. why is everybody taking that so hard?
0.25x im a masochist
why are ppl downvoting OP for this they literally just like to listen at a different speed 😭
ive never adjusted the playback speed but i think what it's at is good for plebs like me lmao
Thank you I appreciate that. I guess this just taught me not to voice any questions in this community. I’ll just be a silent watcher like I normally am.
honestly? ignore people who just like to be assholes for the fun of it. it's just reddit -- dont put so much value in the downvotes/upvotes and post whatever can fit in the subreddit :0c
ive def given unpopular opinions but i typically just post something and forget about it like a day later lmao
Anything other than 1x speed is fatherless behavior
Sorry to inform you I very much have a live father, who is very kind and loving. I’m just unhinged apparently.
I listen to all my podcasts at 1.9-1.8x. The way my brain processes talking makes normal speed seem so slow. Especially when I’m listening to something more monotone like NPR. Also I listen to a ton of podcasts each day so it helps me get through them quicker instead of spending 7 hours of my day listening to them
Yah I listen for 8 hours a day I just love the busyness in my ear. Someone in a comment was like why bother listening to podcasts in like what tf you mean?!
Like I’m still listening, it’s just at a speed I can actually process without getting bored
I understand everything they’re saying perfectly. It rolls through my brain like melted butter over toast. I love it.
And plus you get get through nearly twice the amount of podcasts in the same amount of time
I listen at 1.25x speed, I wish I didn’t but that’s how I listen to all podcasts, if I slow it down they sound drunk 😂
I personally listen to it at the regular speed, though if you like listening at 1.75x speed then listen to it at 1.75x speed. And after reading a bunch off the comments i've for a question: Have you always been listening at 1.75x speed or did you just eventually decide to speed it up and get super used to that speed that normal speed feels super slow now?
X2 speed for everything YouTube or Spotify podcasts. 1.5 for tv and movies
Wtf
For educational content/tutorials I go to 2x on YouTube but for distractible - 1x only, the pauses mean more at regular speed
I used to listen at 2x to catch up since I started listening about a year after they started, but now that I’m caught up I listen at 1x speed.
i listen to it for the first time in 1x then re listen later in 2x
Normal speed for me
The episodes are only an hour long. 1x. I only speed up things that are several hours like audiobooks, and even then only 1.25x or 1.5.
That's fucked up.
I listen at 1.5x to 1.7x the first time, depending on how tired my brain is or how complicated is the topic/words used (english is my second language). And then usually 2x on re-listens.
There is one podcast where the hosts speak very slowly and everyday english and I play that at 2.3x
Real time speed, so 1x. I already have trouble keeping up qith these 3 goobers. I dont need to speed it up and make it harder lol
The idea of speeding up something that I actually want to listen is totally insane to me. I mean, you do you, I guess.
I mean I clearly said I never realized it was sped up until I looked
1.2x mostly, I have to listen to the podcast while I'm doing something like drawing or baking, and for some reason, the faster speed just helps me focus on it better lol
Normal speed
I'm at 1.2, so I can fit them in during my commute
Kind of all of them. 2x- when I’m awake 1.75x- when I’m awake but tired/unfocused 1.2- when im listening to fall asleep 1x- when mark starts talking really fast
I listen to it at x1 speed to savor each episode
