Wife and I are looking to upsize and are strongly considering a new CRV Hybrid Sport-L. We drive a fair amount and we're curious about how the hybrids perform in real life. Are you guys generally exceeding EPA guidance? Underperforming? Right on par?
2023 & 2024 CRV Hybrid Owners, what kind of real-world mileage are you getting?
Question ❔'24 ST w/ 3.4kmi. NE KS. 39.2mpg 95% city on current tank. Took a 1K mi road trip for eclipse with mostly highway and I was in the 32mpg range. Overall sitting at 35.3mpg.

2024 sport touring: live in the Carolinas and my mpg hovers around 37-40 mpg with a healthy mixture of stop and go freeway and city traffic, rural back roads, and non traffic freeway driving. Best I’ve seen was 48 mpg on a day I spent hours in stop and go traffic and the worst was like 32 mpg driving through the mountains of West Virginia doing over 70 mph.
32 as a floor isn't bad.
Not at all, I’m be happy with it. The only caveat is that driving through the mountains drains the battery and once it’s fully drained, you lose what feels like 50 hp and the car struggles a bit more to keep up speed.
Interesting, good to know. How's the regeneration capacity? Does it come back pretty quickly?
It does fairly quickly. Especially if you use the paddles to regeneratively brake while going downhill or to slow down. But it is something to keep in mind if you drive up and down mountains frequently.
I'm in Vermont, so lots of hills. We aren't in the mountains much, but that's good info, thank you.
Hills shouldn't be an issue for the hybrid.

Mostly city driving and AWD model. About 36 to 40 mpg. I guess depends too on the AC since it can get really hot here.
'24 ST getting around 43mpg in mainly city driving for about 1.5 hours a day. Working out better than expected and love the car

90% highway at over 75mph remainder city driving sub 55mph - I’ve gotten used to the car and I’m getting mid 30s mpg with little to no paddle usage. Mostly in Econ mode but lately using normal getting closer to upper 30s.
39.8 MPG average so far. <1.5k miles on my vehicle. Mostly commute to work, drive around town, some highway, etc.
Mostly winter with Winter tires on so far in Ontario Canada — 32 MPG.
37 MPG in summer.
5.9L/100KM on my 23’ touring. Commute to work is a solid mix between highway and city. It’s been great

No prob! As long as you don’t have a heavy foot, you should be fine. I drive on the “normal” mode vs the eco mode and still get that gas mileage. It’s nice especially since I drive a lot of highway and still get that type of gas mileage.

There zero chance your getting 60 mpg highway and then 30 city. The hybrid does worse on the highway not better. You could see 50 mpg city and 35 highway but not going to 60 mpg in a Honda Hybrid
2024 Sport L with 550 miles. I live in the southwest and have a slightly hilly drive to work, speeds average 40-50 mph. I’ve been averaging 41.4 mpg!

This morning I took my daughter to work in the wee hours, 4 am. Nobody on the roads, 20 minutes there and back. 35 mph all the way(many deer out and about), slow stops and starts. Checked my mpgs when I got back home, 49! Temp outside 60 degrees. Now that, admittedly was higher than normal. I’m averaging in this nice weather about 40-43 mpgs. This is for a ‘24 Touring Hybrid, AWD. And with the gas around here $3.69 or above, I’m not complaining! I just love this car!
Owner of 2024 CRV Hybrid sport. I average 34 to 36mpg in normal mode. It work out to 377 to 390 miles before filling up again. Compare that to the vehicle I replaced(2003 Toyota corolla) which as was great on gas also, but was filling up once a week. Now I can go a week and a half before filling up. I'm happy with this purchase. Good Luck!
BTW this is New York City and Highway driving.
I'm mostly a work commuter in the Midwest. Currently getting 38mpg

Were you aware that the CRV has more cargo capacity than the Grand Cherokee?? Crazy how good of mileage this thing gets for the size.
I was not, actually, but I'm not terribly surprised - Honda is exceptionally good at packaging cargo space! The Fit, Element, and Ridgeline are/were terrific in that regard.

I do probably 60% streets up to 50 mph and 40% highways at 65mph. I use paddles, ECON Mode and Cruise Control. During winter I was getting 34 mpg and now that's it summer I'm getting 43.8 mph after each fill up. This is in a 2024 ST

‘24 Sport Touring AWD and just hit 4K miles. Purchased in December. When it was cold out I was averaging 35 mpg. That’s with mostly driving 45-50 miles an hour (about 3 ish miles one way) to my work with occasional highway and some around town. Now that it’s warm out I’ve been averaging 38mpg. I don’t baby the accelerator, and I get better mpg in normal mode.

May I ask how many km you have on the vehicle and what you’re getting i On the highway?
I've put on 32,000km in just under a year.
If you do just highway driving you'll see the numbers drop to 7ish.
Sport aka Peasant level trim and I'm getting 34 lifetime average over 7,000 miles. The winter driving killed my average from 38.2 because the engine is on a lot more to keep the cabin warm (I'm in Pennsylvania) so the cold winters don't help. During the warm months I can average 40+ mpg on a tank which is really impressive for an SUV the size (almost) of a VW Tiguan. Definitely prefer the MPG's vs the truck like mileage my Passport was getting.
I'm in Vermont, so I know about those winters. Still, those are better numbers than I'm seeing in my current hatchback, so I'll take it!
You won't regret it! It's the best of both worlds with size and MPG.

Oh yeah, the new Civic interior reminds me of my 2019 Audi A4’s interior. Legit. The CRV has the almost exact same design too which is great.

'23 ST, 14,500 miles with a calculated 35.9mpg living in Northern Ohio. Lowest tank was a calculated 31.1mpg when the average temp was 19° F.
That's really impressive actually, do you run snows in the winter?
Only when there are a couple of inches on the ground...provides a ton of grip, I was surprised at how well it operates.
34-36 real life mpgs as determined by distance between tank fill ups. Onboard fuel efficiency read outs are higher than actual by at least 3-4 mpgs. This when feathering the car, sticking with ACC not exceeding 70 mph on the highway, and using drive mode B with Econ in the city with paddle operated variable regen inputs in the city. Mix of hills and flats.

I'm seeing around 28/29mpg in the winter and now around 35mpg. Mostly city driving, lots of short trips.
Owned since March. 1700+ miles, mostly big city driving, but have already done a couple of road trips, maybe 500 miles of that. Been mostly mild weather here in that time frame.
Overall, sitting at 34.4mpg.
In my daily city driving, I see and expect over 37mpg. I try to keep it in EV as much as possible, usually. This means I try to go easy on the accelerator. But it can be a challenge if other drivers are a bit antsy. In true stop and go traffic, though, I get over 40mpg. Ha. Wish it'd be able to be a touch quicker to accelerate on the battery, though.

Over the life of the car so far a combined 34mpg. At about 7500 miles total.
2023 Sport AWD, barely breaking 32 MPG even after switching from snows back to the factory the all seasons. 75% of our driving is 30-45 mph neighborhood roads. Not super happy with the mileage and the terrible peasant spec infotainment system. The Sport L hit dealers like 3 weeks after I bought this one too, which makes me extra salty.
In NYC, '24 Sport-L, 36.1 mpg currently. 70:30 highway:city as I have to commute north for work. Worst has been 34.8 during road trip to Adirondacks in the winter. I only got it in late Fall, hence would want to see how much it rises in the summer. Already multiple road trips upto 400 miles one-way done.

We have a 2024 sport touring hybrid crv. Bought in October and have 18000 miles. Our average is about 35 mpg.
'24 ST AWD. 34.7mpg after roughly 2500 miles, much of it city. ECO mode most of the time. Was in the low 30s during the winter (VA) but got noticeably better once we got above freezing. Getting 40 on the last tank.
I’m typically getting around 38mpg, most of my driving is within a 30 minute radius around home. The thing is I live in a suburban area so my typical speeds are 35-45mph around town and not a lot of stop-and-go, which is where hybrids usually shine. But it’s much better fuel efficiency than I was getting with my old Outback!
That's similar to us. We're pretty rural, about a half hour from most things, but generally all along 35-50 mph roads. So hoping the hybrid bet will pay spades.
There are some other great benefits to driving a hybrid. For one, you’ll go much longer between oil changes compared to most other cars. I didn’t get my first oil change until just after 10,000 miles on the odometer (10k-12k miles per oil change is common in hybrids). You also won’t have to replace brake pads as often if you do a lot of regenerative breaking as opposed to pedal braking. And lastly, you’ll just stop for gas less. To me, it’s not just about money saved from all those things, it’s also the time saved.
AWD Sport hybrid, 35.5 MPG (based on receipts and odometer) over 7700 miles. Winter time MPG is ass, but it’s great when it’s warm.
Sport L Hybrid Sport AWD 2024. Over 40 in summer. Winter it went down. So as of now 38.4. Will be around 40 in summer.

I was driving my 2024 Sport-L FWD like I drove my 2013 Mazda3 Hatchback and I did NOT get good mileage lmao. It has been a huge adjustment to driving this thing to maximize mpg. I am running it in normal mode, I use ACC while on freeway and am very conscious of acceleration now and try to not exceed 2500rpm. I am also only using the paddles and not driving in B. I went from getting a gross 33-35mpg to 37-39 (woooo!). I do a lot of freeway driving as well.
Lol I'm replacing a 2017 Mazda3 hatchback. So same boat.

Almost 3 month old 2024 ST with 650 miles on it. I’m not sure for all of the miles because Honda had to reset everything. But since the reset I’ve been getting and MPG of 38.4. I think that I was over 40 before the reset.
I have 26k miles on my 23 Hybrid Sport... my overall average over that amount of time is 40.9mpg. I get 43-46mpg in the city during the warmer months and 33-36mpg on the hi way
Also, I get WORSE in Econ mode... I drive in normal mode using paddles

I bought mine last May and was quickly averaging 40+ each tank. It went down to around 36-38 over the winter. Now that it’s warm again, I’m struggling to get back in the 40s. I’m not sure what’s different.

Live in Minnesota ... 35 MPG for last year, 10,000 miles. This spring I'm getting 40 on trips to work. In the middle of the winter I'll average in the low 30's.
Midwest. In the summer... Usually above 40 mpg (42ish on average) with around 27-30 highway. Our highways are a lot faster though, since we go around 80-85.
If it's winter and you do short trips (like 10 minutes) with your car parked outside, your city mpg will drop to 27ish.
'24 ST here. I'm in NJ, so lots of volume, fairly aggressive drivers (somewhat limiting my ability to drive as smoothly as I'd prefer). Most of my driving is on local roads and smaller local highways, with lots of lights and cars entering and exiting the roadway, with some on bigger highways with stop lights--only occasional turnpike/parkway-type driving.
In Econ mode, using the paddles when I can, no cruise control but actively trying to stay in EV mode, in spring weather, I'm getting between 39.5 and 41.5. I'm thrilled with these results. This is the first car I've ever owned that actually met, let alone exceeded, the advertised fuel economy.

25 touring. 33 highway 40 city. I try to use the paddles but do frequently forget. And I kinda feel like a dick when using the paddles because it means I start decelerating very early. Wish the paddles would have an even higher level of resistance to stop faster with them.
I am averaging 37-40 MPG in mostly city driving. Longer trips with a fair amount of freeway is coming in at 40mpg solid.
A few caveats: We live in Seattle which is cool and hilly and often the trips are short. Most freeway speed limits around Puget Sound are 60mph which makes a hige difference in highway mileage figures.
The EPA city rating is 40 mpg while the highway rating is 34. Ours meets the city one and handily beats the highway rating in our more gentle freeway speed environment.
I live in NC and overall I’m at 41.5, got about 38 during the winter months, but now that it is warm I’m regularly getting 42-45 on my commute which is a mix of hwy and local roads. Very happy with the car!

I have a 24 CR-V Hybrid that I bought in November of 2023. I live in mid western Canada where it gets extremely cold in the winter and I have put a total of 11,000 km on it so far. Total mpg is 30 or 7.7l/100km. The past 3,000 km my average was 40mpg or 5.9l/100km. Mix of highway and city. Probably 40/60
