Stop focusing on miracle cure and start focusing on masking
Vent/RantYep. This is a crap post. We already got long covid, we need a cure.
Masking cures long covid?
I literally came here to ask the same question… I understand it’s protection value but a cure?? I think not.
I thought they meant masking symptoms hahaha
I wish. I started wearing N95 Respirators everywhere and I got bronchitis. Doesn't exactly make me confident in it's ability to protect...
Have you go gotten fit tested?
I mask every day at work. It’s not going to “get me out of this”
My stomach nerves are already damaged. A mask over my mouth isn’t going to fix that.
One of the worst posts Ive seen on this sub.
I don’t even know why I’m even responding on it, probably they are trolling at this point
I mask everywhere but still caught it twice in the span of 50 days because of my current living situation..
Same. I mask but my household doesn't so I keep getting reinfected
Yeah I’m actually moving in with my girlfriend (who also has long covid) in two weeks due to this
Good for you! I hope you're able to stay safer in that environment!
Mask is only cure
So you were cured of long covid after wearing a mask?
Ok, and what do you suggest those of us do who are severely disabled and dependant on our families who refuse to mask? I've gotten HEPA air filters, used nasal sprays, CPC mouthwash and masked in my own home. Begged and pleaded with them to mask, but they won't, so I still keep getting covid from my family. Can't afford to move out and can't physically take care of myself enough to move out either.
???? Masking? I already mask, always. Always have. That’s a given. But how will that help those of us who already have long covid get better? These are two separate issues. Recovery from long covid and preventing the spread/trying to avoid getting covid at all. Both are necessary.
Actually, treatment is our way out of this - masking is a good supplementary practice to protect ourselves and other until then, but treatment is the only answer here.
i will never stop singing the praises of the 3M aura masks. i use them religiously ever since getting LC, and in that time (almost 2yrs) i have been in several situations where i was around a very visibly sick person (me masked, them unmasked) and i didn't catch their illness. i'm so grateful the technology exists to let us participate in daily life while protecting ourselves!
I prefer the fit of the 3M 1860S personally, but I love the squishy foam for the nose on the Auras! Both models have thankfully kept me safe so far, even through all of my doctor’s appointments, tests, and volunteering in the ER every week. I wear KF94s for work and errands, but I always have an N95 within reach in case I need it. High quality masks are the only reason I’m able to live a mostly normal life, so I’m also very grateful for them!
Yup. People sit around waiting for a miracle. Masking will save us.
I don't want to sound like an anti mask guy, especially because I wear masks the whole time I am out of house. But I know that masking will only prevent me from getting reinfected at best.
I have confirmed autoimmune problems since Covid. The only time I felt better, was after their levels got lower by filtering them out.
Sadly it was only a temporary effect, as they are again at levels higher than before starting the treatment. I can't afford more blood filtration, so I am damned to watch my body getting worse and loosing my cognitive abilities as well.
I am 100% sure that bc007 would improve me, because it targets one of the autoantibodies.
At this point I would even consider deactivating my whole immune system and living in complete isolation.
This is my mask of choice too!
You can wear 10 masks if you want lol, but the majority of us want treatment or even a cure.
This is an awful post
Lmao
I agree masking is important.
Me masking won't cure my symptoms or make me healthy again.
Me masking won't stop my friends and loved ones from catching COVID and getting sick like me, given it's hard to make a dent in convincing anyone who doesn't care to care until it's too late.
What's going to get us out of our situation (both "we" as a group of people suffering from incurable chronic illness, "we" as a society that has failed at containing the virus that causes said illness) isn't going to be individualistic solutions like always wearing a mask yourself.
Wear the mask. Of course wear the mask. But we need to focus on the broader systemic solutions because we're not going to "individual choice" our way out of a collective problem.
If by masking you mean covering up symptoms and pretending everything is ok cause several people including doctors have said it’s all in your head or “this is normal” then I am doing a great job! No one would guess I have PASC. I keep it to myself, I pretend I’m well and then suffer with pain and severe fatigue after putting on a show for everyone. If there was treatment I could take it and no one would ever know, cause they don’t want to know, they just was to deny it’s existence. Sometimes I do my job and I’m in so much pain that I have to hide the tears but hey, better than being screamed at that I am making it all up cause I’m lazy! This has been the story of people with chronic health conditions and disability for all of time. Maybe we shouldn’t treat people like shit and work on helping them. Ableism sucks.
Ya I agree, all we can do is wait and prevent more infections. I’ve tried so many supplements and diets and protocols and nothing has any effect and all it’s doing is costing me all sorts of money when I can’t even work. Everytime someone says something cured them, a hundred of us go out and buy the stuff to try it and it doesn’t work. I think a lot of these stories of “this thing cured me!” Is probably just a lot of coincidence and time. I gave up trying all these random supplements and asking doctors for prescriptions and all sorts of stuff. Not saying people SHOULDNT try stuff if they want, but take all these things with a huge heaping grain of salt because for every thing that cured 1 person, there’s like a thousand people that try that thing and waste money and it did nothing at all, if money isn’t an issue for you, great, knock yourself out. Spend thousands and thousands of dollars buying every supplement known to man, spend tons of money on treatments and procedures that no doctor will order or no insurance will ever cover.
People ask me “have you tried the hyperbolic time chamber?!” And I’m like, none of my doctors will ever even consider ordering that.
Yup. Never will be a cure. Stop focusing on clinical trials and start masking 😷
Do you understand than many of us are already sick and need treatments?
Masking with n95 is something many of us have done for 3.5+ years now. I'm glad you're learning about the benefits but it will not heal you only prevent you from getting sick again. There are treatments and supplements showing improvement of symptoms. There is no reason you cannot learn from the research and also protect yourself with an N95.
I have always masked. Still got long covid. Had it for over three years now - been wearing a mask that entire time as well, and my long covid hasn’t reversed. A mask can help protect you from getting covid, but it doesn’t guarantee Anything, and it certainly doesn’t help reverse long covid once you have it, it just helps you not get reinfected which can make people worse.
Agreed. I was the only person masked this am for my 5 minute Aldi run. It’s good to have hope but scientists have known about LC/ post viral illness and related issues since after the Spanish Flu of 1918. Until they do something new in research wear a damn mask bc repeat infections will destroy your body.
Yup we are not gonna get better but masking is the best option.
I’m coming up on my 4th year. My partner and I mask everywhere but I’ve gotten reinfected multiple times. I doubt the LC community needs a reminder to mask up.
Masking won’t prevent it fully, only reduce risk.
Nah fuck that we need a cure. BC007 where you at 😩
Without a cure we are all fucked.
We need treatment as prevention.
Sadly, aint jack shit being done.
Yes, will wear a mask everywhere from now on.
Support the billboard campaign.
I do not support clinical trials. Money should be spent on public awareness of the need to mask
Stop trolling, friend. Such a foolish and weird waste of time and effort to try to annoy a bunch of deathly ill and traumatized people for no reason. Find a better way to direct your energy.
I am no troll friend. I do not support mass infection. People post about miracle cures when avoiding covid is best path forward.
Are you unaware of the fact that money can be spent on both things at once??
Omg…from the title, I thought you meant masking (hiding) symptoms!! 😝 But I get it now…
So…. Um… Same.
I was actually kinda mad at the idea that we just have to deal with it and hide the fact we have LC.
I blame the extra heavy brain fog from my recent reinfection.
Sometimes, all you can do is laugh…or you just may go crazy…
I’ve already gone crazy
We’re all mad here
Never stopped. Never will
Not going to happen.
If you're not a troll then the only thing that makes sense is that you're implying that continued exposure to the virus or other things in the air is keeping us sick?
If so, that's definitely not the case for most of us and so masking isn't going to make us better. It may stop us from getting worse, but I think most of us here know that already.
Please tell me this is a troll post.
I prefer physical fitness, maximized sleep, and healthy eating.
I don’t resent anyone for choosing to wear a mask, but I’m not doing it. Exposure to pathogens is inevitable. If these masks were so wonderful, there wouldn’t be 50k people on this sub.
Yup. Working out and sleeping well is another cure. As well as healthy eating. 😷
Working out actually makes people worse so not sure what you’re talking about? Sleeping well can help you feel better temporarily but it doesn’t cure anything, and neither does healthy eating.
I never claimed any of these behaviors are cures. These are healthy life choices that lessen inflammation, boost the immune system, and facilitate physical recovery. And there’s plenty of people with LC but without PEM that enjoy paced exercise.
I wasn’t trying to respond to you, I was trying to respond to OP who specifically said that masking, working out, sleeping, and eating healthy are all cures. I have no problem with emphasizing masking and healthy lifestyle, I only have a problem when people say it is a cure. Because that implies all of us could just be done with this disease if we tried and that’s not the case for many of us.
None of these things are cures. I don’t think you know the definition of cure or really anything about long covid/covid/viruses.
Mask and HEPA filters
Mask and HEPA filters WHAT. These are preventative measures, ways to help reduce exposure, this has nothing to do with helping people who have long covid.
Wear a mask and run a HEPA filter and let me know how long it takes before you’re cured of your LC.
It’s pretty clear you’re either trolling or just have a complete lack of understanding/communication.

Enjoy your mask dipshit. You’ll probably need two. You know, to recover twice as fast.
Good job announcing to everyone that you're an uneducated moron
Beating a dead horse here but…
Longhauling has been here well before COVID. We should absolutely not lose the little momentum there is to solve it.
Cleaning air is gonna be an eadier sell to the libertarian west.
Clean air and masking
Sure, but I think it's obvious we cant get everyone to mask. If we put filters in enclosed spaces and dont leave it up to individuals there's less chances for failure.
Cleaning the air can be sold like filtering water is sold.
How can masking save us when we are already deathly ill? Many people have gotten infected despite masking and live in big households where they can’t control what others do outside the home. People keep asking for treatment because this life is unbearable.
a lot of anti maskers in my comments :(
No, a lot of people who are already sick and want to get better. Preventing reinfection may keep them from getting worse but won’t make them BETTER
Or literally any type of prevention. Isn’t this common sense?
Not for the anti maskers and the people that want miracle cure
Honestly, I see the mindset you are in. Look it’s a virus that has to work it’s way through your immune system. I took fucking forever to get back on my feet just to get sick and do it all over again. I was bad sick. Reinfected with JN and it hit me harder then the other times combined as far as my CNS goes. Guess what I’m slowly climbing back on my feet. Take a breather make sense of what’s happened to you and your body and know you will be ok. I’m proof I went through the hell you are living. I went through the why. When. How. And the where. Private message me if you want to talk. I know all to well how devastating the toll Covid takes on you mentally and physically.Any questions just ask.
Yup. Definitely do not want to be infected again because who knows what new symptoms there will be along with new damage 😕
Both is good dot gif
Have you researched how big a virus is versus woven fabric? It’s akin to putting up a chain link fence in the yard to keep mosquitoes out.
That’s why we need Hepa filters as well
Moron.
someone delete this stupidity
Which mask should I use being bedbound? Red nose maybe?
I'm a pro vaxxer and pro masker but even I think this op statement is stupid.
i always mask, i still got and currently have long covid despite it
