I'm a light skinned Egyptian female moving to Portugal but i'm couch surfing my way there due to several egyptian reasons...so would it be difficult to find people willing to host me? are people racist or rude to middle eastern black people or what...i know how to deal with people but will they accept my skin and ethnicity?
I, too, am curious about the Egyptian reasons.
I'm Egyptian and I'm not entirely sure what the Egyptian reasons are. Been surfing in the UK and Europe with no problems.
are you really not familiar with the Egyptian reason clauses in the TOS?
She probably means financial difficulties. Best wishes, anyway
You need to understand the type of people who open their house to strangers aren't particularly concerned with things like skin color or race lol. They'd actually love to meet someone who they can ask questions about their culture or life journey. You'll be fine, but just do your due diligence before requesting to stay with anyone
I typically wouldn't host someone moving to the area and prefer to only host travellers. Not everyone operates the same way, though.
Have happily hosted Egyptian, Algerian and Moroccan surfers and somehow cannot imagine there is prejudice against northern Africans who are excellent guests.
Just by virtue of you being a female alone you won't have any problems finding a host and then your background might make you even more interesting to some of the better hosts
As a woman, finding a host will not be difficult. Finding a good host who won't try to make a move on you? A little more difficult, but if you avoid hosts who have 75% or more female references (or no references at all), you'll likely be fine.
Also no, you most likely will not face any discrimination based on skin colour or ethnicity on Couchsurfing in Portugal.
I've never heard of or been given 'egyptian reasons' with a couchsurfing request? Please explain.
