I hope this comment get mentioned in the podcast
does conan go through this subreddit in his podcast? i’ve never actually given it a listen, but i definitely need to
No, but recently Bley found a thread that he shared w Matt Gourley that they talked about on the pod. Check Molly Shannons episode at the end
u/AaronBleyaert please get this to Matt.
C'mon Conan. We all know this is you.
Immediately thought same thing. But I think username would be a more obscure historical reference.
Yea it would be something about Eisenhower’s phone
Such an Adonis
raw sexuality = tight jeans and long legs.
Amanda Seyfried playing Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.
I lost it; so funny!!
I don't understand this

Conan portraying Elizabeth Holmes is gold.
The way he switched between 90s Conan and Elizabeth holmes was just amazing!!!
He’s vain.
No wait, his vein.

Oh God, Matt, DO NOT read this post to Conan!
Nah, do it, Matt, be cool! I told these guys you were cool!
You mean chill?
Chill chump
Where are the S’Mores?
Eh, sure.
We need a “What are Conan’s strengths?” post ASAP
You mean: Aron (Aaron?) Don't tell Matt to...
Low door frames
Low cut dresses.
Came here to say exactly this
Compliments.
Especially from people he admires. That John Mulaney ending was awkwardly delicious.
Mac and Me
“I’m an Irish Catholic”
Omg yes I wish someone could calculate what percentage of episodes he's mentioned that in lol I would say it's definitely over half
Way over. Like 90% I’d say 😅
I just looked it up and apparently his ancestors came from Ireland about 150 years ago 😓 Surely that isn't right?
I kind of remember him mentioning that because my grandma immigrated from Ireland and I remember thinking “geez I’m more closely related to Ireland and I don’t have to bring it up it in every conversation” but I suppose I could be imagining that. I grew up in an Irish Catholic family too Conan, like I get it but also shhhh.
I just assumed at least his parents were born there because it seems such a big part of his upbringing! I think it just makes it extra funny though. Also I'm not sure why my last comment got downvoted, I was just surprised haha
I upvoted for you :) I thought for sure I’d get downvoted but alas. But yeah, the way he talks you’d think!
Sona
I came to say this.
That good, huh?
I’d say Sona’s kids. Conan would stop performing heart surgery if she texted him some new photos of them.
Mikey and Charlie are too busy being constantly barbered, and passed around between the endless flow of Armenian relatives that are living in the Altadena area.
His blindingly pale skin
Also the hair. I worked talent relations at Comic-Con the first year Conan came by. I didn't even have to ask the driver who was in the car because I could see bright red hair through the tinted windows.
I hate how pale you are!
I mean it can be used as a signal if he ever gets lost in the woods
Enunciating Saturday Night Live rather than smashing it into two syllables
Honestly I found that non-bit so frustrating because what he was saying was true but the compadres would have none of it.
Wait is this a thing they discussed on the podcast
Yes, but from a while ago. don't know which episode.
Shit I made a joke about his pronunciation changing the other day without knowing they actually brought it up
Same here. I don’t recall them having a conversation about it. My wife and I always laughed at the way he slurred it together and we realized recently that he’s started enunciating it.
It's addressed in one of the first 10-ish episodes, if I recall correctly. I remember it being a topic of conversation early on.
Yeah they did, I wish I could remember which episode. I think it was Matt who picked him up on it. Then Conan went into a faux-pompous spiel about how people who are in the know pronounce it Sanight Live like he does, and he would know because he worked there.
The guests that he truly admires and thinks that are "above" his level. Like Obama or that Supreme court justice.
That's where he preforms the worst.
He just isn't loose and he's too stiff, no dick jokes, no weird situations, he doesn't go to into offense on the guest, no somewhat inappropriate topics. And what i don't like the most: laughing too much at the guests (or his own) meh jokes.
Those episodes i dont even listen to. I lie, ofc i listen to all of them...
Thnx m8!
Spread the Conando love!
When the string in his pocket breaks.
Upper body strength.
We all know that: he can't say "vagina" nor "uterus" for some obscure reason :)
Love you Conan, 5 stars
His Big Dick Energy.
He can’t not turn everything into a “bit”
(….although I enjoy every one of them lol)
asking redditors for his weakness using a burner account
I believe it was in the Jeff Goldblum episode of CONAF where Conan talks about "doing bits" at home. He mentions that sometimes his wife and/or kids are just not having it and he ends up feeling hurt.
As someone who often jokes around like that I totally understood what he meant. People aren't always in the mood for goofy banter. Rather than feel dumb/dejected/betrayed when it doesn't go over well just brush it off and try to be more aware of people's moods next time.
He’s too nice!
Yep, he can't help it. Unless he's your boss, then he can help it, it would seem.
Must have been bullied when he was a kid
Ah bullets! My only weakness!
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 764,810,817 comments, and only 153,265 of them were in alphabetical order.
His smokers laugh
Talk show segments!
A guy as talented as Conan should be doing more. More Remotes, More writing (sketch/movies/tv series), acting, stand ups, music and so on.
I think he is still underused by his full potential. Yes, he is funnier than many in celebrity interviews. But many other mediocre people are doing it. Who cares about these celebrities.
Even now, his random bits and banter between Sona and Gourley is the highlight of the podcast and not the celebrities (unless it's his friends)
Hope his new show meets his potential.
I think his new show is HEEEAAVILY leaning on videos and bits and stuff he can do with people in public. I think we also have to remember hes one of the busiest hardworking dudes in the biz who is stretched pretty thin and is close to 70
Lmaoooo damn homie looks rough
His Irish skin isn't made for LA sun
High-powered ceiling fans
He is hamstrung by relentless sabotage and a lack of support from his "trusty" assistant, Sona. Plus, she has sticky fingers and steals babies.
South Korean language teachers
Who is she and why is she so sad?
Jay Leno and NBC executives.
His ankles
Sometimes on the podcast, he talks about himself way too long or he ends up complimenting the guest for way too long. Then the guest compliments Conan for way too long and the cycle repeats. (still love the podcast, though)
Nicole’s boobs
Some say he cannot stop.
Conan is a super smart guy who must have fascinating, controversial opinions on all kinds of things from politics to literature but you'll never hear them because he is deeply afraid of offending someone. I get it, but I'd love some uncensored Conan.
I don’t know if he’s afraid of offending anyone. I think it’s that he’s got this old-timey respect thing going on where he just wouldn’t share personal or political opinions because he’s supposed to be more of a sounding board.
Yeah agreed. It’s one of the better things about his comedy imo. I mean it’s obvious he’s a liberal, but he doesn’t find the need to talk about it all the time. During the trump era, for instance, it was such a reprieve to have him (mostly) stay off of politics. He doesn’t get into arguments with people about their opinions, he just tries to make the guests feel comfortable by being warm and listening to their views. Personally I don’t tell people my political opinions either, I’d rather observe others which is, I think, kind of what he does.
Not just politics though. I bet he has some thoughts on religion, or Harvard or some other august institution. I don’t care about Trump, what about the pope?. I want to hear about what a dick Jeff Zucker was in college. Stuff like that.
Talking about religion one way or another would alienate a part of his audience. Gossiping about people is a great way of making enemies. Look at norm Macdonald and oj. Besides if he shit talks one celebrity other celebrities are going to be afraid he’ll do the same to them
"No, and...". Also Jeff Zucker
Being touched by a woman.
Come on Liz Lemon! We were going to lose our virginity together!

Serious answer: he doesn't have mainstream appeal. Conan at 12:35 in the small NYC studio was perfect. Conan at 11:35 in the large LA studio was not.
(Conan on his podcast with his chill chums is also perfect.)
I think Conan’s greatest weakness is actually what makes him so fascinating in the context of the podcast. He can’t really turn off his performer self, which goes directly against the WTF brand of confessional self-exploration that the comedian interview podcast format is all about.
He’s got his repressed Irish Catholic core and he can only channel that pent up energy, at least publicly, into his various comedy personas—self-deprecating nerd, tyrannical boss, etc. I think CONAF works because, on top of the fact that those personas are funny, you get to see him struggle with that tension, never fully able to open himself up in that Marc Maron kind of way.
Bullets.
seriously, he would be immediately and inarguably better at absolutely everything if he were somehow bulletproof. In an evolutionary sense this would make him basically the Uber apex predator, but in a comedic sense, think about the artistic risks he could take if he didnt have to worry about anyone hauling off and shooting him down.
That he has to do comedy and make people laugh.
It’s not super exploitable or HBOMax would be paying him with food, but he has to joke and make skits.
His second weakness is he can’t stop, obviously. Dude has a ton of drive.
His lack of education.
Compliments
Probably poison.
The sun
Troubling high center of gravity.
His career has gone so long we’ve heard about Brookline Massachusetts and his large family and being Irish catholic a few too many times.
“I come from a large Irish Catholic family” WAIT WHAT.

Jordan Schlansky.
Liz Lemon
Keeping track of his tens of thousands of employees. He just cares about them so much. He's like a spiritual leader.
His fortune telling abilities. "In The Year 2000" predictions were all way off.
The year 2000. He is quite positive about it. I dunno what he would do when reality hits him.
Photographs that are not printed on Fracture glass
His narcissism
Icy drinks
The obvious none joke comment is just Conan reading a bad review about himself. He has made that crystal clear.
Jordan Schlansky and his various tasks
Irish Catholic Guilt
Conan is nice but he is very sensitive so he is avoidant to a severe degree. Conan dislikes discomfort which puts him in situations which add to his anxiety. He doesn't like disappointing others so he goes along even when he doesn't want to comply. Lots of people do that. It's not uncommon.
Conan's biggest weakness and his love ❤️ was his television show. Conan's ego and Conan's identity was tied to being on a television show. He was quite proud of his television shows and did not want to make changes as he's not exactly confortable with change. Conan felt most confortable when he could dissociate into the television persona he created to escape his reality and be a cool kid.
There's no doubt Conan loves his family but his happiest identity is tied to being a man on television.
He's too afraid to rock the boat. Early episodes of the podcast were literally the funniest podcasting content I've ever heard. The reason? He didn't think anyone was listening. As soon as sponsors and other stakeholders starting paying attention, there was a palpable shift in the tone and unfortunately, the quality, relative to previous bits.
The bit he improved for Roman in the very first episodes made me laugh harder than any other piece of audio I've ever heard.
(For those who remember, the bit involved Conan insisting he didn't need ED medications like Roman, because he works in a Hummel factory and constantly smashes all the figurines with his penis).
While still really funny, the podcast has never been as funny since people started paying attention.
If I had to guess, I think Conan's permanently scarred from the Tonight Show catastrophe and is just trying to hold it together. But, when he's unleashed, he is, without a doubt, the funniest human on the planet.
Are we listening to the same podcast? Every other episode has jokes/bits about dicks, vaginas, sex, etc. They had a whole Big Dick History bit just last year.
I recently listened to some of the earlier episodes & the riffing between Conan, Matt, & Sona has only gotten better with time.
Have you ever considered that he doesn’t want to? He probably had some fun and laughs messing around and the start and then refined his podcast to a format he enjoys. I highly doubt he is scared of any sponsor or stakeholders since his podcast is not a multi million dollar affair and he has like 30 years of experience. I think he genuinely enjoys doing the 50 minute interviews with people. There’s no reason for him to start doing crazy comedy experiments
highly doubt he is scared of any sponsor or stakeholders since his podcast is not a multi million dollar affair
I’m pretty sure it actually is lol. From the Wall Street Journal last year:
Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” typically ranks among the top five most popular comedy series on Apple’s dominant podcasting service. The show accounts for two-thirds of Team Coco’s 13 million total monthly downloads. It generates more than half the slate’s total sponsorship revenue, which is expected to reach roughly $20 million in 2021, Team Coco executives say.
I've never once considered the possibility that Conan doesn't want to be as funny as humanly possible at all times. It's clearly his life passion.
That's a bit of an extreme, no? He has said that he has no religion other than silliness, but I don't think that means his goal is to be doing the funniest possible thing at all times. He is a human and all humans need balance. I don't think it's a fair point to the person you responded to by disregarding that Conan might just have a preference.
He's too afraid to rock the boat ... the bit involved Conan insisting he didn't need ED medications like Roman, because he works in a Hummel factory and constantly smashes all the figurines with his penis
I mean, I can't speak to his willingness to offend advertisers during their specific ads, but in terms of vulgar shock value-- if that's what you're getting at? Literally, in the most recent episode with John Mulaney he did a bit about Cookie Monster sucking dicks and ejaculate flying everywhere out of his mouth ala cookie crumbles because he doesn't have a throat to swallow with.
Regardless, shock value isn't much the type of humor I'd primarily associate with Conan. He's mostly silly, spouts pseudo-German nonsense, plays with old timey characters and clichés, and is self-depreciating. He's a goofy, physical, almost timeless clown archetype, with the type of comedy chops that can appeal to nearly every age, including the very young. He's Monty Python, not Dice Clay.
Being super controversial, 'rocking the boat,' or being crass just isn't something he's ever been much invested in. Does that make him too afraid? idk, not really. Disinterested, more like it. There have been hints of it here and there, but it's just not the type of thing he's ever done very predominantly. And again, per the most recent episode, he's still doing it, about as occasionally as ever. No offense, but what are you even talking about? I understand this thread is specifically one to identify his weaknesses, but yours seems like a pretty blatant misdiagnosis of what he's good at, and what he's currently doing.
I'm with you 100% on the first sentence, no so much with the rest.
Mostly relevant to serious convos about comedy/performing, but: he seems reluctant to share his point of view on anything - not just hotbutton issues like politics - unless he genuinely agrees with the guest. When he's likeminded, he yes-ands with stories/theories of his own. When he isn't likeminded, he kinda acts agreeable without any friction. He rarely, if ever, says something like, "that's interesting, I feel the opposite way because..."
I don't see him holding back comedy-wise, though. He doesn't need to care about sponsors.
His red hair
Rage
That priest that stalks him (this was a real thing, look it up)
He is very well rounded. That said even Conan had off days and sometimes things don't land perfectly.
The sun
I love Conan so this is hard to say ..
But when he's talking with anyone who is outside his "clique"... His banter and energy levels go down, just not enjoyable
Well aren’t we all more excitable when talking to our friends/people we have more in common with?
Sure, but the rest of us aren't hosts for entertainment purposes
Those beady, creepy little eyes!
His inability to host ALL of the talk shows at once, as he rightfully should.
His hairy legs 🦵
The sun
His lack of willingness to fuck people over to get what he wants in the business
Ah bullets! My only weakness!
Chuck Norris.
All that inbreeding coursing thru his see-thru veins. And the Sun
Red heads
His penis grew so large that he can no longer outrun a cheetah due to the extra wind resistance on his otherwise perfectly aerodynamic body.
Anvils
Losing the edge that made him famous by catering to the woke crowd.
He literally criticized the sensitivity in modern culture like 1 or 2 episodes ago lol.
He was edgy for a nighttime tv host, but his edginess was like pretending to be a pervert & having interviews/remotes that were just 100% bits instead of serious interviews. The edgiest thing he did was probably the insult comic dog recurring character & that was literally not even him. His sense of humor really hasn’t changed much. He still thinks it’s funny not to take celebrity seriously, he still enjoys his pervert bits, he still has that self-depreciating streak intercepted with his half-jokey belief that he’s a genius, he still likes to jokingly insult the people around him. He’s pretty much the same but in way less scripted/structured podcast format.
Probably his arms or calves
