She gave it to one of her grandsons a couple of days ago. I typed up a little history and information packet, including info about the Carson City mint to give to the grandson.
Wait...your partner's grandmother's coin was in a sock in her dresser but whose grandson did she give it to, hers or her grandma's? Or did her grandma give it to her grandson? Which would be her brother or cousin...
I'm confused.
My partner's grandma gave it to her when she was a young girl. My partner stored it in a sock in her dresser drawer until 2017, when she showed it to me. I checked its value and, at the time it was about $400 raw. She had always wanted to give it to one particular grandson. I sent it to NGC for grading and encapsulation. When I got it back, I put the graded coin in my safe. A couple of days ago, when her grandson came to visit, I got the graded coin, now worth about $1600, out of my safe and she gave it to him along with the four-page note I typed up back in 2017.

Sorry, my brain just wasn't working.
Good story! I love the end of a good story! That's why I collect coins, all for my grandchildren. And you are very accurate, that Carson City Morgan is the hardest to find. It's worth 6 figures if in High Mint Condition! Thank you for the happy ending.
Grandma gave it to OP, OP gave it to a grandson. There are 5 generations happening.
