I was wondering if anyone knew of any good secluded picnic spots around the area for during the summer. I don't mind driving an hour or so if yall have anything that's a bit further out. If you have more of a personal spot and feel like sharing dm me! Also, if there's tips on like bugs and wildlife that I should keep in mind let me know :) I of course know some basics from living here my whole life but I'm not the most outdoorsy and im attempting to change that haha
oh great thanks! I'll see about checking that out soon.
You can head out of State 97 from Wolf Lodge towards Harrison. Beauty Creek is pretty and has some amenities nearby. We also like the overlook area just a bit further south at the top of the hill for picnics. You get some nice views up top and it's generally not used by many people.
Cool, thanks! :)
Many good spots along the North fork of the CDA river. I spend a lot of time exploring and just picnic where I find a nice place. Get a map and look for places to check out. It's a lot of fun and you will see a lot of things.
This should go without saying but since you yourself state you're not very outdoorsy I would like to add... PLEASE do your part in realizing that there are no maids etc in the woods and that your garbage doesn't just disappear by itself. Always take any garbage with you when you leave. I spent endless hours every weekend for an entire summer around Hayden creek cleaning up camp sites etc. It didn't make a dent in it because it's gotten so bad out there.
Oh I know!! There's been so many more people up here as of late and I've just been astounded by how much more litter I've seen; it's really heart breaking. We will definitely be sure to pick up after ourselves when we go out. :)
If you’re down for a small hike head out to Farragut and park on the pull-off before the boat launch. A trail takes you through Strawberry campground then you take a right on a trail along the lake called the Shorline Picnic trail.. Keep following that for about half a mile and there’s some picnic tables above the water on the left and some stairs taking you down to the beach. One of my favorite spots! This is only viable during the colder months when the campground and Farragut aren’t completely packed for the summer.
