The gates are now open during the winter!!
No WAY!!!!!! Holy shit thanks for letting me know
I was surprised it isn’t more popular. The rock is amazing
It always seems like it gets overshadowed by NRG. Only been to Coopers once and never NRG myself -- WV is like a 5+ hour drive for me -- but I hear people at my gym talk about NRG way way more,
I think it will get there eventually. Feels like a lack of higher end classics / projects but I'm sure they're there.
But it has some of the best moderates in the country that I've climbed and/or failed at climbing lmao
The slabs by Moby’s are always a super fun time when I’m having a high gravity day (literally every day at coopers)
Absolutely. I may have been shut down on a “v0” slab there
The detached block right by Moby dick? That one I found hard because it’s all friction smearing
I think it was further down the slab away from moby dick. I forget what it was called tho
4th shot is so beautiful
Thanks!
Im right nearby and have been meaning to go for months. Its so gorgeous
You have to get out there! It’s an amazing place
That’s pretty Middle Earth stuff.
Where is this? Seems like a really cool spot to explore
Coopers Rock State Forest in West Virginia USA.
You had much better weather than my 1 trip to Coopers - here was my view from your Photo #5:

Rained the whole trip. I forget where we climbed but we managed to find 1 or 2 covered boulders and that was it.
Yeah, it rained a bit the first day but dried pretty quickly. The 2nd and 8th shots are from the cave route, which is totally covered. The roadside area has a few boulders with big roofs that stay pretty dry
Oh yea! That's the boulder we climbed on! I didn't catch the name of it when we were down there
Very cool
It’s crazy I recognize every single one of these spots. I grew up bouldering here and it’s very special to me. Park gates closed during peak bouldering season + sandbagged routes keep it from exploding, even though the sandstone is some of the best on the east coast.
