This doesn't include Aichi, Ren, Leon, etc. because they have Psyqualia, which takes away some of their credibility. An example I'd give is Misaki, Asaka, or Tetsu. They all have a really high fight IQ and know how to use their cards to their fullest potential. In my opinion, the most skilled is probably Misaki. Especially with her photographic memory, which is able to help her out so well. What do you guys think, who is the most skilled cardfighter in the anime?
Who do you guys think is the most skilled Cardfighter in the anime series?
QuestionYeah either one but I’d say Kai. Kai was regularly beating people with psyqualia without it right?
In the original continuity, the only PSYQualia user we saw him beat while they were using PSYQualia was Aichi.
I think in Asia circuit, while we didn't see it directly, it was mentioned by Ren that Kai regularly beats him while he's using psyqualia
When did Ren mention this?
Episode 85, our respective summers is the episode.
I’m going back to watch that one again.
It is in the beginning episode. Ren is asking everyone to play volleyball with him.
Damn I'd need to really look at the show again to find the exact episode but I'm fairly sure of it. Maybe when I'm free I'll skim through some of the episodes later, see if I can find it
Thanks.
Kai was a massive trigger sacker though but I guess luck is needed a lot
True but most of the cast was trigger sacking, the power of plot man
Feel like it wasn't so bad in the first series, but then by G Chrono and Shion are regularly hitting triple criticals or more
If PSYQualia is allowed, Aichi.
If we're not discounting plot armor luck, Chrono.
If we're just going on pure unadulterated skill, Kai.
The truth has been spoken. But with a clan like Gear Chronicle, shenanigans are bound to ensue. 😂
Bruv kai's got the double double crit sack
Kai might get a lot of triggers but he doesn't need them because he's that good. He is always in control at every point of the games he plays, and never loses his cool. As soon as his opponent flips their starter, Kai is playing out the percentages in his head, reviewing the matchup and adjusting his strategy. He plays a meta deck and pilots it flawlessly, and knows his opponents' decks and win-cons better than they do. The only time he's ever off-beat is when his opponent either has precognition or pulls cards from the Q Dimension that are not even remotely tournament legal. People can literally cheat against him and he will still win.
Kai doesn't sack triggers to win games. Kai sacks triggers to style on his opponent.
Morikawa with a good deck
Morikawa without his Grade 3s is like Luffy without his hat, it just doesn't work
They had to nerf him because he was too good
He's suffering from success
Morikawa with Bastion would be a bigger threat to mankind than Gyze
Tetsu took a voluntary nerf in playing DI in the og series. dude just has crazy game iq. and Kai as my real answer obvi. between reps and skill, i think he’s the safest pick.
Original series, I'd say it's Kai, especially using Kagero or Narukami.
G series, I'm giving it to Kouji.
v series I'm actually going to say it's Kourin
Shinemon arc goes to shin
Skipped -if- through to Gaiden
Divinez, I'm going to give it to Taizo.
Michiru can be a candidate if D to DZ characters are allowed.
I feel like his pre-Masque fights are very evident of his skills. He seems to play with a lot of intentionality even by anime character standards.
Rushes Bruce, guards early and CB Denys Mag, all that.
It’s also worth noting that he’s one of the few characters with a confirmed worlds-level feat in any continuity or universe.
Most definitely and unironically Morikawa.
Mans was built to be a main character but they nerfed him by giving him a deck full of G3s.
Even with photographic memory, Misaki has a pretty middling W-L record. As far as best fighter in the series, it's probably Kai.
her record would've been much better if season 4 didn't exist, but Kai is probably the correct answer
It sometimes gets a bit fuzzy on what Psyqualia actually does for a Cardfighter though. Technically it’s the ability to speak and hear the voices of the units as an Avatar for one of the Clans, right? And I suppose it does have some semblance of future sight due to predicting Triggers, but that wouldn’t really change if they didn’t have Psyquallia, right?
Kai is definitely the most skilled if we just consider pure tactical ability and insight. I agree that Misaki is up there too due to her photographic memory.
This just makes my brain whirr because in Vanguard G, Chrono and everyone else are nowhere near as good as any of the OG cast.
I think an equally important conversation to have in regards to PSYQualia’s role in this discussion is each user’s usage of it. Because, save for Ren and Aichi during Season 1, most of the users… barely ever use it. Like, after Season 1, we saw Aichi bust it out, like, twice during Asia Circuit, then never again until the finale of Z. Same goes for Ren. Then we have Leon and Christopher, who literally never use it again after Asia Circuit.
It’s sort of a non-factor honestly. Rèn definitely used it to trigger stack. Aichi sort of did the same. And yeah, no one really uses it after Asia Circuit.
Psyqualia is a skill man smh.
It's called stacking.
Pre-Psyqualia Aichi running a deck with only 1 G3. You gotta be skilled af to do that.
Kai, Ibuki, Misaki, Michiru & Morikawa with Bastion deck
I think if Koutei had been more involved post S3 (?). He could be considered up there.
I would say PSYQualia as a factor depends heavily on how much the user actually uses it. And we basically stop seeing it after Season 1, for the most part (At least, in the original continuity).
It sort of reaches the point where all Psyquallia users don’t really tap into it unless it’s important. Even without it, their skills are top notch and they compete with the best of the best.
I agree.
Miwa Kamui Chrono Shion
Expect to get plenty of heat for putting Chrono, one of the anime’s most infamous sack machines, here. However, Miwa’s an interesting candidate. He almost never wins, save for Shingo (And… just about anybody in the main cast at that point could do that; Shingo is a Masamune Kadoya-tier fraud) and, later, while he was Reversed, Jun (Who has never been portrayed as anything special, but the fact he was officially hired as an obstacle for part of the VF Circuit alongside the Number 2s of two of the strongest teams we knew of at the time could hint toward him being pretty powerful). At the same time, though, the vast majority of his opponents are within, like, the top 0.1% of the verse. Additionally, he gets pretty close to victory in many of these fights, which is worth considering.
My man is the one Kai trains with. Kai being Kai, he wouldn't train with someone who always loses, it would bore him. They've been friends since childhood and Kai still fights with him, after having trained with people of the caliber of Ren "the cards talk to me" Suzugamori and Tetsu. The main cast is lucky Miwa Taishi doesn't like competitive environments imo.
As for chrono's plot armor and trigger sacking... Well many here are saying Kai. However, if I had to replace him in this list, I would say Ibuki.
Ibuki makes sense. He was pretty much always a demon.
If we’re just talking original it would definitely be Kai and gaillard
