I'm looking at playing the games again and want to play them on a portable device. Which is the best to play them on? I don't want to fiddle with my switch to get it to work, are there others i can play on?, or am I forced to use an emulator on my phone?
I read somewhere the only way to do it was to download an emulator and hack the switch to get it to work.
Your phone is the best option, I assume you already have one. So all you beed to do is get the emulators and game files
Psp is the way to go, always ends up back on mine every other year at least.
I play it on my PS VITA
If you own a 3Ds you can play it if you got fbi installed
Breath of Fire I & II: Nintendo Switch (via Nintendo Switch Online - SNES app)
Breath of Fire III: PS Vita (buy the PSP game through the store) or use a PS1 (disc), PS2 (disc) or PSTV (via buying the digital PSP version)
Breath of Fire IV: Same as above, but you can also play it on PS3 by buying it digitally. There is also the PC disc version but you'd have to import from Europe.
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter: Only via PS2 disc, so you'd need a PS2 or backwards-compatible PS3. Game is thankfully not very expensive online.
Yea that's the sad part, the fact Dragon Quarter getting zero love not PSN sucks
The interesting thing is it was on Japanese PS3 PSN for 3 years, but got delisted. Probably because of the licensed song in the credits.
Yea... makes me want to see it for NA PSN but... yea still depressing hurtful
Android phone with a bluetooth controller, for me the rom hacks just offer a lot more fun than the original game. Im currently playing bof 2 where ryu is a caster and I'm having a blast with it making ryu and nina sweep enemies instead of bruteforcing with physical dmg.
You can play 1-4 on a Miyoo Mini Plus or Retroid Pocket 2s. Both cheap and really good devices
If you have a GBA you can play BoF 1 & 2 on that. If you have the original Nintendo DS it has a cartridge slot for GBA games so you can play on that as well.
The SNES emulators however allow frame skip and save stats which are nice features for speeding up your playthrough and saving anywhere you want! But emulators are best used on PC.
Who h BoF game were you wanting to play? BoF 3 has a PSP port so that is mobile.
Vita, psp, steam deck... What do you have available?
I only have the switch so far but I can easily afford a psp/steam deck.
to be honest a controller for your phone will do the trick too, it's all about what exactly you want
if you get a steam deck you have way more options for emulators but also pc games. Psp might not be as available as it used to be anymore, Idk, but you'd definitely be limiting yourself with what's available for the psp, same goes for a vita
I'd say a steam deck is a bit expensive if it's just gonna be an emulator device, rather get a controller for your phone and you're good to go but if you want more from mobile gaming getting a deck might not be such a bad idea.
What do you mean fiddle with your Switch? You turn it on, download the SNES program, and select BoF. It’s arguably more simple than using an Emulator.
