Friendly Reminder that those DAWGS won Banner 18Discussion

Still living off that high. Anyone’s favorite moments? That three by X still lives in my head. That Jaylen three over siakim to go to OT is still absolutely goated. Even though it was a sweep, still the best series.

Should we use a 10 man rotation next year?Discussion

I mean, kp is out for 5-6 months, 2 guys are in the olympics. Al will be 39 years old next year. But even when kp returns, we should still utilize a 10 man rotation to keep everyone healthy for the playoffs. When kp returns, we could have horford, pritchard, hauser, tillman and scheierman coming off the bench and getting minutes.

Interesting find at Michael Rubins party Discussion

Was watching a video of people at Rubins fourth of July party and noticed Wyc was there with the trophy. Some awesome shit to see, I'll miss him as an owner but he's going out on top. Hope he rides that wave into retirement

(Shaughnessy) In conversations with some sources close to the situation, I’ve come away convinced that soon-to-be-90-year-old H. Irving Grousbeck is the one driving this sale and that 63-year-old son Wyc...actually owns a relatively small stake in the franchise.Rumor

Irving Grousbeck — still teaching at Stanford Business School — has been the money behind the group since the beginning and there’s every indication that the billionaire (Forbes lists “Irving Grousbeck and family’s” worth at $1.8 billion) rarely seen at Celtics games is motivating this sale in an attempt to get his affairs in order.

H. Irving Grousbeck made his fortune as cofounder of Continental Cablevision and is no doubt interested in ongoing negotiations for the NBA’s media rights. A nine-year deal is set to expire at the end of next season and the new deal (reportedly close to $76 billion) will have considerable impact on franchise values.

I emailed the elder Grousbeck late Wednesday, requesting comment on my assertions, and he responded Thursday with a polite no comment.

When I texted Wyc with, “You OK if I say your personal stake in the team is less than 2 percent?”, he answered, “We hold as a family — all unified . . . We are a family and I also have a Celtics family is my comment. Thanks.”

This leads us to Steve Pagliuca, often identified as “co-owner” of the Celtics. Pags made his money at Bain Capital and has been Wyc Grousbeck’s wingman since the group bought the team. Pags is the one who had the idea to hire Danny Ainge, who wound up being the genius to acquire Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo (2008 champs), then Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Brad Stevens, and Joe Mazzulla.

Many fans want Pagliuca to emerge as the next majority owner of the team and Pags made his intentions clear the day the sale was announced, issuing this statement: “Being a co-investor and managing partner of the Celtics has been a great honor and a labor of love. I hope to be part of the Celtics moving forward and will be a proud participant in the bidding process that has been announced today.”

98.5 Discussion on where new ownership should build a stadium if they decide to. Discussion

https://youtu.be/Dl57Ogrjf8g?si=Jo7DkuPmizwWpCOJ

I had agreed with Felger the other day putting it in the Leader Bank Pavilion spot, but McCarthy's idea for Gillette World Headquarters spot is perfect! It is in the city, good public transit around, already available parking (in addition to hopefully more parking being built below) and not right on top of the current Garden. The only thing is there is no really good sports bars that come to mind in that area to me. Anyone else have any other thoughts on where would be a good spot for it?

What is more sad: losing the finals in 2022 or losing in the third round in 2023?Discussion

In my opinion, i think losing in 2023 was worse. Yeah we lost in the finals, and we had a good shot to win, but the warriors were much, much more experience in the finals than we were. We got this feeling that we can get back to the finals and win. so there was optimism or positivity in the loss. When we lost in 2023, our team worked really hard and we kept thinking and talking about getting to the finals and winning. Only to lose. And then we had to wait another long year. But after that loss in 2023, we had to say goodbye to key players that had been around this team for a while. And it was painful, but at the same time, it was another learning experience and it got us one step closer to the championship.

Do you think we should have these as our city editions next year? Discussion

These jerseys look really cool and badass. If they are not city editions, how about retros or maybe alternatives?
