body memory vs black lake

I like Body memory more just because I like the way she sings it and I kinda resonate with the lyrics ALSO Im biased because I love Utopia so much.

body memory. it feels weird to say it bc black lake feels like such a bjork classic but i just get so much more mileage out of body memory. black lake’s lyrics are very straightforward which is a good thing but i basically know everything the song has to offer at this point. on the other hand, i’ve loved body memory from the beginning and to this day i’m still having little epiphanies about the lyrics. i don’t think i’ll ever finish unpacking that song and that’s what i love about it

I cannot believe everyone is saying body memory tbh… black lake is one of her best and body memory is just..

This is my vulnicura bias speaking but black lake is a fucking masterpiece. Imo it has the absolute best blend of arca’s electronics and the somber strings, along with angry and bitter lyrics that are narratively essential to the album. I don’t think it gets enough credit for being such a catchy song, either. The beats between verses are so fun and also incredibly texturally interesting. Body memory is also incredible, but black lake, even if not as grand and powerful, just outdoes it in almost every aspect for me

Give us the twenty minute Body Memory, mjöthr!!!!

I love both so much, but Body Memory is something way out of my league songwriting wise.

I remember Björk saying she liked Joni Mitchell’s album “Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter” and on that album is a 16-minute song “Paprika Plains” After hearing that and Black Lake, it helped me not worry so much in my own songwriting to have long songs. It’s more important that they have their flow. So it was a bit freeing to get to know longer songs. I was very happy when Utopia came out and we got this epic, lengthy Body Memory song! So, I really do want to hear that longer Body Memory someday.

Vulnicura is my favorite album ever but I think black lake is one of the weaker songs compared to the other tracks off of Vulnicura ( it’s still incredible) I prefer body memory though because of arcas production and Björks vocals throughout the song
