The bike needs a new brake cable, otherwise it seems to be in good working order.
I’m trying to price a vintage (2002) Colnago-Ferrari CF2 MTB. It needs some minor work. Any ideas?
This seems to more or less be the consensus. I’m not the one selling it but I’ll pass all of this along. Appreciate the reply.
it’s the right answer and why you don’t see this suspension type on modern mtbs.
Some collector will pay for it. No one's going to ride it, but those were rare

No, you're not likely to get $5k for it but you'lll certainly get more than $200 for it.
The drivetrain, shock, and fork are probably worth closer to $2000 than $200 if they are as new and unridden as the photo looks. Wheels would catch a pretty penny too.
I think $2,000 - $4,000 is a realistic number. It’s going to take a while to sale, you’ve got to find a buyer. I’ll give you 1,500 plus shipping right now if you don’t want to mess with it.
It’s not up to me, I’m gathering information for my workplace. I can pass along your offer on Monday.
Thanks, let me know if you are considering my offer. I’ll obviously need some additional photos and information before fully committing.
Of course
This could go two ways. One of those ways is that this has some sort of collector value and the other is it’s just a 2002 mountain bike. I have no information on the value of it as a collectors item but as a 2002 mountain bike it’s worth less than $200. The truth may lie somewhere in between.
Forget the Ferrari branding, a Colnago in unridden condition will always have way more than $200 value as a bike that’s not just a collectors item.
Thanks
the xtr group is probably worth parting out if the frame isn’t that valuable
I'll take the Drivetrain... 😋
If it has a car brand name on it, it’s most likely to be a crappy bike.
These were different. They used the same carbon fiber technology and manufacturers as Ferrari. They are unique and rare. Outdated by modern standards, but used Ferraris still go up in value over time.
Those of you that are approaching this like it's a used bike are missing the point. Parting it out would be stupid. This is a historical piece, not a bike. It's a Collab between two brands that are the peak of their respective industries, especially in Italy. What were these new, 20k? Something ridiculous like that. Sit on it long enough and you'll get more than they got in 2020. Maybe 2027, the 25th anniversary? Maybe Colnago and Ferrari will do another Collab then and you can sell this one for 10k based on the hype.
There's no market set for these, and your buyer is going to be a bike collector. It's really a "what someone is willing to pay" situation as this isn't a bike that sells often. I'd replace the brake cable since that costs basically nothing, and then put it on eBay for $2000 OBO and see what happens. No sense comparing it to other 2002 mountain bikes as you're most likely not selling this to someone who plans on riding it.
Appreciate it, thanks
Seems to be missing a few spokes.
That’s just how these are. Looks weird for sure
Yeah. /s.
Can someone tell me which model are the xt brakes?
If it needs work, there's a negative value. No work, it's barely above zero.
I remember these things from back then, kind of a failure because they actually sucked hard. Just look at how high the top tube is then ask when is it then curved upward on top of being high. Then ask yourself if that's what you really want. They sucked, geometry was bad, the suspension was terrible. They were those dealership bikes.
Even if the frame goes straight in the trash that bike looks to be basically unridden and there's a full XTR M950 or M960 drivetrain sitting on there. Plus a vintage SID shock and fork.
Depending on the market and currency I suspect those parts could fetch close to $2k alone.
Vintage, LOL.
“Vintage items are much younger than antiques. These pieces are typically defined as being at least 20 years old but less than 100 years old.”
I think vintage also implies that is it’s age confers some kind of value. Judging by other comments seems that it may in this case.
lol @ trying to show off such a lame bike while disguising your post as asking for help…
This is an old auction picture. The bike in question isn’t even mine, it’s a work-related question.

Grow up.
I like how you don’t give an explanation as to how it’s work related and instead attempt to insult while adding a link that is irrelevant to your “point”… typical redditor lollll
I don’t owe you an explanation. The link is literally showing you that it’s not my bike.
You obviously have the temperament of a teenager, so I’m going to stop wasting my time with you.
There’s isn’t really a market price as there are so few of them. Put a big price on it & wait for some Ferrari owning chump to grab it as a collectors item
