He was up twice with men in scoring position and came away empty. Hes been awful this year. Idk what to think long term but im open to optioning him to Reno
He had that sac bunt late in the game last night, which was great. I think he's in the sophomore slump right now though.
Are we happy with our rookie of the year hitting sac bunts? I'm all for embrace chaos... But idk if I like that.
No I completely agree. That's why I think he's got the sophomore slump. I think next year he's going to come out and hit 250 plus easily. That's just my .02
I still believe in him, slumps happen. But he better go crazy after the all star break ngl
I mean he's doing everything right. Taking walks, running up pitch counts, hitting the ball hard - even if it's in the wrong spot, and hitting off-speed pitches well.
Everything, except being able to hit a 4-seam fastball. For that pitch, he's been below .200 since last July. Last month was the first where he hit it well at .265.
That is actually a really good sign. .265 is good. This month was the first month where I was like “ ok he’s actually turning it around” cause it was a stretch of him being elite even without the homers, which will come with time
Added another filter our of curiosity. 4-seam fastball in the top of the zone/just above it area and the data mirrors it. Elite 3 months, nothing for 11 months, better in June. But with this, and looking at all other pitchers in that area, you can see the pitch count climbing as pitchers adjusted to the weakness.
Honestly some good signs in may too. .143 better than nothing. As soon as he starts hitting that 4 seam gg
I really hope this is just a bad sophomore slump and he gets it together. He showed last year what he can do, so he's just too good to be down for long.
It totally is. Corbin is so fucking good
Ouch Goldy's on there this season too.
Theres the traditional patented Goldy Slow Starttm , and then theres the atrociously abysmal start that he had this year
The moral to this story…Baseball is really hard
I love Corbin but Jake should be starting over him a little more now that Alek is back in the mix. He’s earned it based on production this season
Edit: if Jake had enough ABs in 2023 to qualify, he’d be 10th on the list on the left with a +39 wrc improvement compared to last season
Let’s hope he can bounce back next year and we didn’t already see him peak as a rookie
I've rarely seen him smile this year at all and its depressing
It’s like he’s been swinging a wet noodle all season
It sure feels like it so I’m not surprised. Really hope it’s just a sophomore slump and he figures things out. We got 8 more great Corbin years ahead
Sophomore slump. Bad one but this is normal.
He flew too close to the sun in his rookie season
Dude this year is gonna end up with me cooked. I'm doom and glooming every loss and hyping the hell out of every win. Maybe I should step away and come check back in later in the season.
Hopefully not just a linsanity run… but seeing Corey Seager decline too should be a “good” sign
Jerome Walton 2.0
Lol
OP is likely a Dodger fan
He has basically doubled his pop up % from last season, he’s been basically completely incapable of lifting the ball with any kind of power
I mean, I’m still depressed about yesterday. But yeah, sure, just pile it on 😢
