Publishers and authors: I’m not buying anything with AI generated content in it

Look. I'd be fine with it. If it didn't suck.
Like you know what f**k it lets be optimistic for half a second.
imagine 2pac reading lord of the rings . You'd almost want it to deviate from the transcript slightly to add 2pac slang for a better experience.
As it is now, I hate it. Outright hate it. But I'm sure in the future we might actually get some enjoyable content once the tech isn't so new.
Wouldn't be so bad if it got to a point where it could emulate any voice and you could pick the voice for your book? Then you'd get your favourite narrator all the time.
For instance. I love the Iron Druid Chronicles. Hate the audio book. Returned it and let Alexa read when I needed my eyes for other things.
Sometimes all you need is the content itself. Glad you found Alexa good enough.
It's not better than a good narrator. But it is way better than a bad one. If there was a better digital reader than Alexa I could pay for I would. And I'd still rather have a voice actor deliver the content. My point is, it's not an either/or proposition. We all benefit from an increased offering of services. I don't lament the end of cottage weaving of necessities either.
And she wasn't "good enough", only "better than."
Prove otherwise.
