Tell me your parameters to identify where a person is from based on their Assamese accents.

I am from Dibrugarh and my Parents were born and raised in Sivsagar and later settled in Dibrugarh a year before I was born. So I was accustomed to the Upper Assam accents well enough. I now can recognise accents of people from different districts in Upper Assam and few from lower Assam since I studied in Tezpur and met people from Lower Assam as well.

Some observations (add to it if you want)

Jorhat/Lakhimpur- Way too sweet with a sing song tune. (Bohut xur logai kotha koi) Although Jorhat exceeds Lakhimpur on this and that's how you make the differentiation.

Sivasagar- Best vocabulary, uses words straight out of Hemkosh.

Dibrugarh- The Standard Upper Assam Accent. Some people uses words like Nakhang, Najang, Nokoung (Nakhao, Najao, Nokoru)

Guwahati- This one is pretty obvious, (jai asu-goi asu and many more) of course the way words are pronounced and the tune in which sentences are said.

I had a friend from Goalpara so I kind of recognise the accent but can't get the rest. Help me out here.

P.S- This post comes from a place of linguistic inquisity and interest in accents and not from anything negative or with an idea of stereotyping.
