I would like to know your perspective..
Do you give tips to Shoppee or Lazada etc. delivery riders?
Nah. It's not like I'm troubling them with my requests or anything. They're not third party food delivery riders--I treat the ones employed (?) by fast food differently--where I could potentially inconvenience them due to the order or wait times.
All Shopee/Lazada riders have to do is deliver my package to me without tossing it, that's all, and I assume that's their job description (though not tossing it is probably implicit). That requires no special expense from me. The one time I tipped is when I was away briefly and the rider arrived, then returned later.
Nah. It's not like I'm troubling them with my requests or anything.
Uyyyy same. Ganyan din ang thinking ko. Feeling ko, ang damot ko not to give tips other than sa barya na meant to be sukli na minsan, 'di ko na kinukuha. Pero to my defense din naman, it is their actual job and to be fair naman, never ako nagpahintay o nagkaroon ng special request sa mga riders and laging nakaready agad ang payment.
I don't feel bad at all, haha. I mean, my only interaction is to literally just hand over the money and take the package. Two steps, sometimes one when it's not COD. I don't have to annoy them, and they don't have to accomodate me like servers or suffer the wait in my place for food. I'm not about to tip anyone for passing a parcel, especially when I'm always at home to receive them the first time (except the one time I wasn't).
+10000000
No. I don’t believe the riders experience any hassle delivering my parcels — they’re non COD and they can just be left at my condo lobby. The riders can be in and out within a few minutes.
And they'll actually thank you lalo na sabay sabay yung non-COD orders in one address like a condo. Hit agad quota for the day.
Nope. And most of them are borderline a-holes anyway.
no. and im willing to bet that more than half of filipinos do not want any sort of tipping culture here akin to what america has. if, for some reason, you want to support delivery riders then take that energy to the companies that manage them. just dont ruin it for everybody else just because youre privileged.
No. Pag nasanay sila, hahanap hanapin nila yan.
Kaya nagstop na ako gumamit ng food delivery apps kasi tinext ako nung isang Foodpanda driver penge daw tip 🤮 I'd rather walk and buy fastfood myself.
Yes, almost always. Medyo rural kami so the riders are almost always the same 4-5 guys lang. I usually give around P20 - 100 per delivery. Minsan kasi pag wala ako pinapaiwan ko lang, so the next time double bigay ko.
I have given P500 to a couple of them during Christmas din multiple times na kasi nagdedeliver pa kahit Dec 24.
Same. I always give tip mapa food or parcel pa dine deliver. Nagu-guilty ako kapag wala hahaha. I know it's their job and na wala namang issue sa kanila whether you give or not. 😂
Di kami ganun ka-rural pero medyo mahirap hanapin yung bahay namin. Pag courteous tapos parang nahirapan talaga, nagbibigay ako.
Pinamamaskuhan ko lang. Pag lagi kang nagtitip, some motherfckers will feel entitled to it eventually then hindi malayong sumunod tayo sa tipping culture sa US
Nope. Trabaho nila yun eh.
I order too frequently, and oftentimes, those are parcels below 500, so I don't. Pero 2 riders lang nagpapalitan sa pag deliver ng parcels ko so I give them Christmas gifts. If may extra food or celebration sa bahay at nasakto na may daldalhin sila, I pack food for them as well.
'Yung isang kuya knows that I don't do cash on deliveries and there was a parcel for me amounting to 2,500+. I wasn't home that time, but he didn't leave it sa mom or sister ko. He went back the next day to confirm if the order was really mine since it was a COD parcel at sabi niya, may kutob daw siya na scam kasi 'yon. Well, it really was a scam. I didn't order anything. Gave him 200 for that.
Whenever I notice the rider feeling thirsty, I offer them a refreshing glass of cold water with ice or 100 pesos for their snack later, but not all the time.
No, sadly... because they often arrive at our house without me around. And I don't use COD.
Funny though, one rider I talked to said he actually prefer non-COD as cash orders often take time to be delivered (and sometimes buyers refuse to accept the item). That hits their daily quota/incentive which makes tips not worth it.
Tip? Minsan lang.
I give them cold water and small merienda :) not money (tips) talaga
Depende, kapag bastos ang rider no tip pero kapag mabait merong tip.
No, trabaho nila yun. Wala naman nagttip sakin pag nagwowork ako ha. Charot but seriously, ayoko magaya tayo sa US.
Hindi siya requirement.
Pero we do give tips to the rider. Andun na tayo na nasa job description nila yung magdeliver in any seasons (umulan/umaraw). But we’re not like the US na MOST (hindi ALL, baka may hindi makaintindi) of their delivery guys naka-truck. Dito, usual delivery guys natin naka-motor. Delikado kasi may weight limit requirement sa motor (tho, they have the option to say no pag sobra sobra na yung parcels). Kaya as much as possible, we give at least 10-20 pesos na tip. Kung wala kami maibigay na tip, offering them water or any refreshments would do.
Wala naman kami masyadong orders ng Christmas kaya we have at least 10 Christmas baskets (including kay kuya J&T rider).
Yes, for all the good reasons. One particular rider ang favorite ko sa Lazada, where I usually place orders, kasi one time nakalimutan ko mag-iwan ng money sa kapitbahay namin for my COD order worth 800 and sabi ng rider binigay niya na daw sa kapaitbahay ko and babalikan na lang daw niya yung payment the next day or pwede ko raw i-gcash. I felt super bad and super grateful kasi ang laki ng trust ng rider sakin. That one time binigyan ko siya ng 100 tip as a thank you.
Pero if not good experience sa rider hindi ako nagbibigay. May Shopee and Tiktok riders na ayaw maghatid sa mismong bahay ko, gusto nila sa may gate lang, which is malayo. With that, I don't give tips.
If minsan naman, if may extra, food and drinks ang binibigay ko to help them have a free meal rin kasi mahal ang bilihin these days. Ultimately feel free to give tips if your heart is willing.
they'd appreciate a cold or freezing bottle of water (plus snacks) 6 or 12 pesos lang sa supermarket.
Nope wala ako madalas sa bahay pag nagdedeliver sila and pmt mode is usually non cod unlike food delivery riders, those i give tip nman
Keep the change lang, di umaabot ng 10 pesos. Basta saktong bayad masaya na sila.
Sa shoppee and lazada riders, no. Almost weekly my delivery samen and paulit-ulit lng sila. Baka mgexpect lagi.
Pro for food delivery na iba2 driver and probably once every 2 weeks lng, yes.
Other situations like pag super init, pag umuulan, or bumagyo (usually until mga 1 week after ng bagyo may tip every delivery kasi wala naman nagpapadeliver pag may bagyo so no kita sila)
We sometimes give snacks, usually an cold bottle of water or skyflakes. Food riders get cash tips more
no
Minsan.
I do lng if may sukli na up to 30 pesos sguro ganun, keep the change
Yes i do tip 10 or 20 pesos pag meron.
Nasa province ako, but still living in a metro city. Example foodpanda, they don’t really anticipate tips here kasi pag bibigyan sila they would thank dearly. Pag meron lang extra coins sa stash yes i would tip.
Minsan. Usually 20 lang pero minsan 50, pag umuulan tapos naka-bike yung nagdedeliver (foodpanda) or pag kunwari may okasyon (Father's Day, Mother's Day, Bday or kung ano man).
Pang-meryenda man lang nila ganon.
Yes, but not regularly. Kapag may sukli lang like less than 10php for COD. for non-COD, no tips since iiwan ihuhulog lang naman nila sa loob ng gate.
Yes.
Yes, especially if malalaking parcel and heavy. It's the least I can do for them na nagbababad sa init or ulan just to deliver yung item na I chose to buy online for my own comfort and convenience. Yes it's their job to deliver, but I see tips as a form of appreciation and gratitude and not really an additional compensation for their job 🙂
Yes, specifically mainit sa labas nowadays. Usually hindi ko na kinukuha sukli
I do. Kapag mabigat ang parcel ko. Pangbili lang nila ng bottled water or bread. Usually 20 to 30 pesos lang ako mag tip.
Also, I don't subscribe to the idea na "trabaho nila yun". Sobrang baba ng sweldo nila. Umulan-umaraw nasa labas sila.
Yes, not fixed amount.
I dont think madali ang trabaho ng delivery rider, but they do what they can do to survive this economy. A small tip or snacks for them kung may extra kami wouldnt hurt.
thats you and you do you pero this is genuinely a horrible take, especially the last statement
Yes, pag Christmas season haha.
No, but I always offer biscuits or cold water :)
Don't start that shit here in the Philippines
