Over 5 million Long COVID patients in Japan, but patients refuse treatment due to high costs
i think it’s insidious the way that so many medical establishments say that the patients “refuse” treatment. what other option do they have if every system that is set up to help them is failing them?
"Refusing" treatment that is both expensive and not going to work seems pretty rational to me. I think terms like that are people's way of trying to cope with the gaslighting going on, it's easier to imagine individuals are acting irrationally than the entire medical system. I suspect the patients know that the treatments suggested by the doctors are performative, and it probably really bothers the doctors when patients don't play along.
The clinic in the article (most well known clinic for Long COVID in Tokyo) seems to be prescribing Xocova (a Japanese COVID antiviral manufactured by Shinogi) for some cases of Long COVID (such as loss of taste/smell).
Im surprised that we have heard so little about the japanese antiviral here in the West. Have there been any tests to see if it prevents long covid?
Yes for helping those who have Long COVID symptoms, but I have not ready the actual study so I cannot say for sure it's effective.

According to NHK's article after half a year of use, Long COVID symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, etc reduced by 45% (26% in control reported symptoms, whereas 14% who used the drug reported symptoms).
Why is this phrased as if an approved treatment for Long Covid actually exists?
What treatments? Stem cell? Hbot? LDN?
Refusing to take a nap?
This would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.
Patients begging for treatments. Headline reads patients refusing treatment. Gaslighting the patients via headlines even after they’ve left doctors office is a new twist.
They are clearly talking about the treatment for acute infection.
They do treat the affected organ system. My lungs were damaged, so I took prednisone and used budesonide for almost 2 years. Long Covid can affect any organ system, so the treatments will be tailored to each patient.

"treatments" lol

And the number will only increase as people are reinfected. What a dystopia we live in.
Patients refuse to pay for the privilege of being lab rats for doctors who still aren't sure what's going on.
The clinic quoted in the article is the most well known clinic for Long COVID in Tokyo. And yes to be frank not many doctors know what's going on, there's a lot of trial and error.
