Could anyone recommend a game for my 10yo

Have you tried Lego games? They have puzzles that keep kids thinking but also have plenty of action and there are a million franchises to choose from. Plus if you want to play along they all have local coop.

Sea of Thieves (on GamePass) has a massive player base of kids around his age. It has a nice balance of adventuring, combat, and cosmetic unlocks for doing things in game. Note that there are a few cosmetics that are pay-to-get only but you have to work for the most sought after ones. I’ve played for years and I haven’t spent a dime on cosmetics.

They recently introduced a game mode called “Safer Seas” that allows you to play without the fear of other pirates stealing your loot on your own private server. Haven’t tried it myself but I’ve heard good things from those who have.

If you’re also into gaming, you should join in with him. I’m in my late 20s and it’s far and away my favorite game.

my boys are 9, 7, 7. Lego games went over well but somehow they got into Roblox. I'm about ready to say, "If its not on the Nintendo Switch, you're not playing it." - sometimes it real hard to gate the content we love from our kids, but we need to do it.

Slime Rancher is a good one in my opinion. I used to babysit a kid who was obsessed with it after seeing me play it once. However, pretty much all elements of the story are given through reading, so hopefully that isn’t an issue.

There's a lot of good options here. If you have game pass you could get the rare replay stuff as well! Banjo kazooie and tooie, both viva pinata, kameo, grabbed by the ghoulies. I was around that age when I was playing those games! Maybe make sure you don't download conker though.

• Gran Turismo 7

• Spiderman (either one). Great stories (respectively), and tons of side content. My kids (8 & 12) love them.

• Injustice (1 or 2). I've never been a fan of fighting games, but this one is different. A great story and actually takes skill and concentration to beat.

• Elden Ring. If your kid plays BRs and wants a hit of dopamine, this game. It's really deep and doesn't hold hands, so if your child likes serious games, this one is top of the list.

He might like Terraria. It has a lot of adventure elements to it but also a lot of fighting. There are at least 20 different bosses you can fight along with several events/invasions, but it also allows for the freedom to create things. I will say it can be infuriating to play at times and it isn't exactly easy to start.

Everyone has mentioned Lego games and Minecraft, but I'm going to say you consider The Crash Bandicoot series, the Spyro series, Sea of Theives, and No Man's Sky.

For 2d platformers i suggest Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theatre.

And I understand he's only 10, but if you consider letting him play games rated T for teen; Halo, Destiny 2, and Hogwarts: Legacy are all great picks.

GTA V, it’s really kid friendly as the characters of Trevor, Michael and Franklin really make a wholesome combination as they selflessly keep American safe and sound by fixing the economy one bank at a time. The mission “By The Book” involves you keeping a man alive for a majority of the mission in order for you to bring him to the airport so he can be reunited with his family. Honestly this game is a steal and your kid will have a blast.

Ni no Kuni. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. You play as a human child named Ollie and you overcome enemies and obstacles alongside a fairy and attempt to destroy evil in the kingdom. Cute game and it’s like an anime story come to life. It’s fun.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is basically Zelda Breath of The Wild but in a Greek God/Goddess Universe.

The game is narrated by Zeus and has some fun humor to it.

This is a Ubisoft Games with tons of replay value and character progression and creation. a lot of powers and cool mechanics within the game too.

Currently on GamePass.

Crash team racing and also for easy achievements any kiddy games like paw patrol or pj masks I tried the paw patrol kart game and it eased me in like my first kart teaching you how to early boost from the start all kiddie games are multiplayer on the same screen

If you’re interested in turning off the gore in any borderlands game it’s cell shaded and has split screen and lan party

Also might have to check the language settings as some games let you disable both gore and swearing

You can also turn off the voices if you’re not able to disable swearing leaving sfx and music on

There is borderlands 1-3 and the pre sequel with 2 side games tiny Tina assault on dragon keep and wonderland

Great cartoonish look not like doom 2016 or eternal that are more realistic looking and gory borderlands cell shaded look also makes it much more humorous than if it were just another realistic looking game that wouldn’t age well

I started playing Skyrim at 10/11 and loved it. Fallout might be too violent but Skyrim is fantastical enough.
