Solo winter backpacking at Crater Lake National Park
This was a 7 mile overnight trip to Crater Lake a few weeks ago. I skinned up from the visitor center and kept going along the rim until I was allowed to camp. It snowed like 4-5 inches overnight with pretty high winds. Visibility was pretty bad once the storm rolled in.
Awesome pictures! What camera do you use to film and capture these?
This was all on a Pixel 6a, I didn't bring my actual camera on this trip
Be sure to follow the areas local weather service page. In this case it would be Medford.
Medford is like 4,000 feet lower than Crater Lake, I prefer weather forecasts from the actual location
The weather service for Medford covers a wide area of the southern state. They have equipment in different areas (such as Crater Lake) that provide accurate forecasting. Please stop by a local weather service office and educate yourself and see how your tax dollars are being used to protect you. White out conditions is a great way to get yourself killed.
The hell are you talking about? You think I went into this not knowing the forecast? Of course I checked the weather dude. I knew it was going to snow.
I gotcha. I was checking out their posts and let me tell ya. You could learn a few things /s.
Yeah this guy seems to be an expert on all subjects! A true master of life.
Now, will they be the kind of redditer that deletes comments lol. Nice work btw. I enjoy the trip reports✌️.
Thanks man, appreciate it! Hoping to have a few more from the Sisters in a few weeks.

Yup, whiteout = instant death. Especially for folks in a shelter 😆
