I don't get treating this like a net positive for Trump. He didn't do better. Just because he spoke faster wasn't a win for him since all he did was lie and say utterly insane shit. At best for Trump, this debate was neutral because he didn't do anything to make himself sound less insane or divorced from reality. We knew Biden was old and Trump was psychotic; nothing changed for either side.
well, it's a "positive" for trump because he thinks that bullshit that he says about biden has been proven as if biden's performance had everything to do with his intellect and not his stutter.

It's almost like this debate wasn't good for either of them. Biden was an old man who was needing to attempt to fact check someone who constantly lied vs someone who lied about literally everything. Real moderation would of called him on it.
Dude claimed he never had an affair with Stormy. He attack Biden on Israel Palestine and claimed Israel had gone to far while also encouraging them to finish it. Trump does not hold a stance he simply lies and talks out both side of his mouth at all times.

The problem with this logic is that Hughley isn't the average American voter. Sure, HE was always going to vote for Biden regardless of how the debate went, but would the average voter?
If the average voter is having a hard time picking between the old guy with a stutter who fumbled over some points and the old guy that lied constantly and literally refused to answer questions (who is also a convicted felon) then maybe the average voter needs to reevaluate their priorities in life.

I for one, have forgotten none of those things. I even remember the border wall government shut down, the narrow defeat of the last attempt to overturn the ACA, Sean Spicer losing his shit as press secretary, the lie after lie about crowd sizes, the goddamn debt from the Trump tax cuts, the bleach injection idea during COVID, the 15 votes it took for the GOP to elect a speaker . . . I evens remember the first debate where Clinton baited him about Alicia Machado and he took it. He even doubled down and tweeted out a link for Americans to check out her sex tape. . . I remember every unhinged thing.
And I will not forget Biden’s performance at that debate. Frankly, a higher proportion of democrats do not live in the same bubble of self-delusion as GOP voters at the moment. And I will not be deluded about the need for another candidate to defeat that monster again.
If I do not get that candidate, and Biden fails to do what is right in this moment, I will vote for him (or at least his administration and policy agenda), and I will encourage others to so do. I will do what is right, given that choice.
But don’t be an asshole and insult my intelligence . . . or my own eyes and ears. I want another candidate and goddamnit. . . it is actually possible to get one.

Hopefully a razor thin margin of voters in Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Nevada vote for Biden regardless of his debate performance, or are as forgetful as DL who-the-hell-ever seems to think they will be.
I know I will vote for him and urge others to do so as well. But fuck me if I can figure out how the hell his underwater polling all six of those states before the debate is going to improve going forward.
Trump cannot be President. If you want to explain (more cogently than “sit down and shut the fuck up”) exactly how Biden turns this around, I am all ears.
Was it a good debate? What is good? Is being good at lying good? Is being good at business claiming bankruptcy three times good? Is grabbing women good? Is falsifying financial records good? Is redrawing the weather map good? Is stating a presidential address to the nation every two weeks, because you stayed up all night on twitter and are really upset good?
Just my opinion, that the last 4 years went by really fuckin smooth compared to the daily trump show the previous 4 were. I get that theres people that may not like biden, but at least he’s not shoved down our throats all day every day.
I will crawl over broken glass to vote for Biden. He is a good man and I recognize that my vote is a vote for him, his policy positions, and his admin.
Will that retired plumber in Reno vote for him? Will that group of Kindergarten teachers in Atlanta? Will that young college kid in Philly?
Do you think Biden can win enough swing voters in swing states? The polls are the polls, and Biden can win by 5 million and still lose.
This was a “make my day, Pal” moment to change that dynamic. We should be talking about how much of a lunatic trump is right now. . . But we’re not. Yes. I will vote for our guy. That’s not the issue. I’m worried about our guy’s ability to persuade those other voters in those areas so they vote for him too.
That’s what I’m worried about because his plan to debate in June to shake this up and persuade them likely had the exact opposite effect.
I get your concern, but I think the point you are missing is that the numbers for biden have not changed since the debate. So, the debate changed nothing. The people who are going for biden are still going for biden. Doesn't matter if biden showed up as captain pike from the original star trek flashing colored lights for answers.
If I had my way Raskin or AOC would be running, but i don't get my way so I'll happily vote for biden because even if biden is old and senile his cabinet is made up of captains of industry and are doing the country solid.
I hear what you’re saying. I will do exactly as you will in November if Biden continues his candidacy. I understand the stakes, the past accomplishments, and the future admin’s policy positions going forward.
But we do not have post debate polling in the aforementioned swing states to comfort us yet. I don’t know where you’re claiming to know what the polling will say, post debate.
I will say that, given the static nature of these polls over the last few months. . If he loses even a single point when they do come out, having been behind up to this point. then the wider gap is likely insurmountable.
I do not want to rely on Trump looking worse. And he will look worse, but Trump voters are surprisingly Ill-informed and conspiratorial. New convictions, rambling speeches, a prison sentence, him dropping a deuce on the floor in front of a camera. . . We cannot rely only on that.
But that said. I will wait with baited breath to see swing state polling. Likely this will inform us on how we feel going forward.
I've seen 1 poll that still has biden ahead. and 1 poll shows they are tied. neither poll had a margin of error but hopefully they are still correct.

I think Jamie Raskin could. I'd love to drop AOC's name, but I think she is in the same category as Newsom. She's been branded too radical by our "liberal media" and they've run with that label for quite some time now. So, yeah, I think Raskin is definitely viable, but Biden seems to have not lost anything, so why bother? I think platypus is just freaking out, and I get his concern, I just don't share it like i did right after the debate. Obama had a good response regarding the debate, but I think DL's has been the most accessible. It doesn't matter how "bad" biden did he's not evil like trump and that should win.
