Sen. Katie Britt Introduces Bill to Create Federal Database of Pregnant People
Loss of LibertyIllegal under A RANGE of virtually every medical privacy law (but it seems laws are irrelevant to the right, at this point).
They will make it "legal" through decree of Emperor Donald I.
He'll have to do the deed himself women will line up to receive his demon seed 🙄
"Small government" was only ever meant to apply to regulating corporations.
What, you don't like the idea of a highly regulated and controlled population under a ruling class of corporations protected by a dictatorship?
You must be some kind of radical socialist or sumthin /s
Government small enough to fit inside our uteruses. /s
And we know how well that worked out ....
When these scores talk about small government, it's only small because they're the only ones in it. They don't want to govern, they want to rule.
I may be wrong, but I believe they've already dialed back workplace protections and benefits for pregnant people in Texas
Small government for white heterosexual christian males, totalitarianism for everyone else
Yeah, it would be hilarious if we weren't, you know, living it, but we don't have to move to Canada. All we have to do is vote.
GOP control of the Senate and President Trump and this 100% gets passed.
Naturally, the unconstitutionality of such a law means the Supreme Court will swiftly act to prevent enforcement. /s
It will be a Führerdiktat from Emperor Donald I.
Congress and SCOTUS will be rubber-stamping of his decrees.
elections have consequences
We were going to try to get pregnant starting this spring but I want to hold off until November for reasons
Doesn't this violate the US Constitution? What's next? Are they gonna create a "Period Police" to make sure women don't miss their cycles? This is becoming very Orwellian. And soon that will be illegal, too.
Orwell's already banned in a lot of red state libraries.
So they think Big Brother is the Good Guy? Next they'll ban Star Wars because they think the Empire was justified to destroy Alderaan.
You're talking about people who root for Gilead in The Handmaid's Tale.
"Under His eye" is the new "BB is watching you".
And they probably thought Schindler's List was a comedy and was based on fiction.
No, they probably thought it was a tragedy because some of the Jews survive in the end.
The modern Republican Party in a nutshell.
I’ve pointed this out before, but what will happen to those of us who don’t ovulate regularly or have regular cycles? Will every missed period count as a pregnancy? Will every period post skipped period count as a miscarriage? And furthermore will said “miscarriage” be seen as my fault?
THIS. As a woman pushing 30, with a child already, I’m still very irregular. It’s imposible for me to track anything because it’s never the same. This whole thing is such a slippery slope.
And what about masturbation? Are they going to adapt an "Every Sperm is Sacred" view and try to control everyone's hormones?
No, just the women. I mean duh, we’re just property. First owned by our fathers then by our spouses. Through that lense everything being suggested makes perfect sense (pure sarcasm btw)
It's not sarcasm to the people pushing this shit. It's what their Wholly Babble says about women.
I'm sure people on the autism spectrum like me won't be safe either.
Man, I've scrolled this subreddit a lot and now and then I'll see an ad for damned viagra-type stuff for men to 'stay hard and keep going'.
If this shit wasn't life or death and dead serious and deathly dangerous, I'd chuckle. But I only see red and seethe. Of course they'll do all they can to keep men erect and ready to shoot to get and keep girls and women pregnant and producing.
"Don't let age ruin your fun and enjoyment, men!" 🤮
Of course, they'll probably arrest men who are gay, disabled or sterile and send them off to the Colonies. I'm sure they're also in favor of forced sterilization for undesirables(i.e. colored people).
💦 I hope not. 😆
That's a terrifying thought. My roommate has fibroids and may be going into pre menopause so she's been skipping periods; we're in Texas
This bill is insidious. So near Mother's day?!?! And calling it the MOMS act. Diabolical.
This BS is going to cause women to die. Even the thought of this being a possibility will result in women going without proper prenatal care even for wanted pregnancies for fear of what could happen if anything goes wrong.
Will she stand up in the Senate to defend it in her Evangelical baby voice like she did her State of the Union response?
We. Hear. You. We. Hate. You. We. Rule. You. Shudder…
Oh come on, this has got to be a Serena Joy prank! Right?!?!?
Because this definitely can't be readily misused or anything... 🙄
What you call 'misused' is exactly what they intend it for.
Yes, (for anyone who didn't read the article) after women have signed up, they're going to pass the pregnant women's info to crisis pregnancy centers. Or, as I like to call them, re-education camps.
Makes it real easy to identify the women who are fertile and able to carry babies to term. You know, when our own government becomes just like Gilead. How do people still think it’s so far-fetched?
Every day, I am more and more glad not to be an American. Good luck to you all, shit is getting insane down there.
Be careful, there are Canadians trying to make it happen for you as well.
They have no business even throwing this out as an idea. I’m sick of this being our reality. We deserve better.
Right?! We've done NOTHING wrong - though I guess being born with a vagina and uterus et al makes us controllable. 😢🙄
They’re horrible spiteful people with no ability to empathize and I hope they realize one day how shit they are.
Yeah no.
Fuck that.
Fuck the conservative mindset
Cnuts hate any federal gun databases, but Gilead is fine.
Katie Britt seems to have taken a page out of Nicolae Ceausescu's playbook. His Decree 770 not only outlawed abortion and contraception but also forced all Romanian women to submit to monthly pregnancy exams. Yes folks, women had their pregnancies monitored by the secret police. We all know how that dystopian nightmare ended. God only knows how many women wound up dying from his insane policies not to mention thousands of children who grew up in those infamous state-run orphanages.
According to the bill, treatment of an ectopic pregnancy falls under abortion services. She and many like her need to be voted out of office.
So women will die now because of ectopic pregnancies? It’s not even a viable pregnancy!
But the legislators know how women’s bodies work best- way more than any doctor. They know you can take the ectopic pregnancy and implant it in the womb so you can save the baby. /s
Transplant ‘em just like taters!
It’s Alabama. Good luck with that.
And it begins. Now let us ask them to make a federal database of all gun owners. They will come with excuses (the same ones, mind you, that can be applied to pregnant people) as to why that is federally protected, and why it would be bad.
Vote blue guys. Get these MAGA fascist dipshits OUT
Wow!!! Why am I shocked? But I am. Disgusting!
I hate this fucking country.
Completely and thoroughly.
I hate myself for serving it (please don't thank me for my service).
If not for all the suffering innocents, this country deserves to burn.
I'm sorry you had to serve to realize that while yes some of power and thus freedom as a sovetign nation was bought and paid for by soldiers. Our freedoms our liberties and our rights as citizens were fought and paid for by prorostesters in our streets .
Trump has no idea what he will unleash if he becomes dictator.
He does not care, he only cares about selling us up the river to save his own skin. He's scared and a scared fascist is a dangerous fascist.
I mean unleash against him personally.
I'm beyond sick of all this fucking "go high," "play by the rules," "be the grownups in the room" which is all the damn Democrats care about.
Yeah I agree. We aren't going to win this fight by being the "better person".
It's ALL DEMOCRATS CARE ABOUT!!!!!!
Give me liberty or give me death. I won't wait for dictator trump , the liberties already trying to be stripped from women are straight out of the handmaidens tale. It's like the gop looked at the story and went ahhh our perfect society!
I get so sick of the canned, reflexive "thank you for your service" from those who don't even know me anyway. I did a job.
Now I consider it insulting.
Their wet dream involves “ripe and fertile” women serving as incubators for as long as god is willing, but this will eventually scare young girls and women from having children at all. I am terrified of what happens next.
The amount of women I personally know who have gone “fuck it, I’m getting sterilized” and followed through has been… not insignificant. (And like, good for them, if it’s what they want, it’s just a very decisive action.)
Damn. This comment gives me mixed emotions. I’m proud of them for being brave enough to take a stance when that’s exactly what we need right now, yet sad that they are missing out on something that could have been so beautiful.
I just watched the video interview of the 13 year old Lebanese girl who was forced to marry a 29 year old man.
That’s what happens next.
These people are fucking terrible!!!
I'm so TIRED of these women gleefully being their own gender betrayers.
If this is the direction we're going, let it all burn...
This is a literal administrative tracking device ... the GOP is evil.
You know, I think the funniest part of all these "pro family" bills is that they can absolutely exist in tandem with less abortion restrictions. If anything, I've never understood why this isnt incentive for everyone to fix the goddamn country and social programs so that people view raising an unwanted child as a possibility rather than something unattainable
Gosh dang looney GOP
I want to see a credible news source pick this up
It is our Constitutional right to start a revolution and depose our current officials. "All Eneimies, foreign and DOMESTIC"
This bill looks horrible and all, but does it say where they will be getting their list of pregnant women from? I see multiple references to "users", is this voluntary?
It's still is terrible to have an official federal website directing people away from abortion resources, but I don't think this bill is quite as evil as people are making it out to be. It's clearly laying the groundwork for a mandatory database, but I think it's better to try and quash the bill with spreading any misinformation because that could backfire.
It's clearly laying the groundwork for a mandatory database
That's the problem. We all know exactly where it's going, and we aren't obligated to play dumb about it.
They don't deserve endless good faith when they've stomped on it time and again. This bill is evil, and while I agree we shouldn't be spreading misinformation, I don't see where the misinformation here is.
The misinformation is in the ragebait headline, which very clearly implies that the state will opt-in pregnant women. This is not what is being proposed. Progressives should expect more from journalists and not try to cover up for intentionally misleading headlines with sloppy inferences (i.e., “We all know where this is going.”) This is not a federal database of pregnant people any more than a voluntary gun registry (which is what we currently have) is a federally mandated gun registry (which we do not have).
People like you said the exact same shit about Roe v Wade getting overturned, and look what happened.
This is reasonable speculation, given the GOP's extensive history of frog boiling. Plus, registries based on purchased products aren't comparable to a database full of information related to a person's pregnancy status.
Regardless of what whiny conservatives seem to think, pregnancy isn't something that should be legally regulated like gun ownership. Anybody can opt out of owning a gun, but when you're pregnant, that's your actual body.
The person you are replying to is jumping on every thread on Reddit about this topic. I replied to him that the concerns being voiced are consistent with actual policy plans being endorsed by the Republican nominee for president.
"Do you think states should monitor women's pregnancies so they can know if they've gotten an abortion after the ban?"
"I think they might do that. ... You'll have to speak to the individual states," Trump responded.
His response was that the real outrage was that I was (in some way) misrepresenting "the REaL TruTh."
Why would anyone register for this voluntarily?
Gender traitor
Not only would this be a violation of civil rights but it would lead to states limiting pregnant women from traveling out of state. Next they are going to try and overturn pregnancy as a protected right when seeking employment. The always champion for small government, yet try to pass laws that interfere with our most basic civil rights.
