Soviet truck GAZ-53 converted into a pickup truck.
CustomSpecs:
If it has the same old engine, it had a v8 engine producing 120 hp and a top speed of 90/kmh, 56 mph
How the hell do they only get 120hp out of a v8?
High performance was not a design criteria for Soviet work trucks. It needed to be easy to build, easy to field repair, and reliable in extreme temperatures, all of which are going to require design tradeoffs that are the opposite of the design criteria for high horsepower performance.
Also, horsepower is a function of rotational speed. The same engine spun up faster will produce more horsepower. An engine designed for hauling heavy things at low speeds is going to have a focus on low end torque and not high rpm or top end power. All old big gas motors for medium and heavy duty trucks have low hp numbers compared to performance car v8s, but they will have substantially more torque.
Also, i think the Soviets did their testing with a fully dressed engine. The American car companies used to inflate their horsepower numbers by testing the engine naked with no accessories, exhaust restrictions, and a high performance carburetor. A high capacity water pump, alternator, mechanical fan, and an exhaust add a lot of load to an engine.
The whole ass double deck red london bus had like 115 hp.
