Didn’t link for me, but I bet it is the right video. It was a huge stallion that went down like a sack of bricks. It was actually heart breaking to watch because you could just see immediately that the poor horse was dead.
And that whole thing was totally avoidable. They tried to back-breed the mare during her foal heat, and didn't take the foal far enough, and the mare could hear her foal in distress. She was giving every indicator she was not ready to be bred. And they didn't even bother using a teaser stallion to see if she'd come around. She wasn't hobbled, which, if you're going to breed a mare, to that expensive of a stallion you need to have her in hobbles so this exact thing doesn't happen.
And here's the real kicker. That stallion wasn't even theirs to be studding! They were trying to breed him on the sly and not have to pay the owner the stud fee.
Basically it was textbook "How Not To Breed Horses."
Just tragic. Edit: and infuriating because it was a result of theft and they actually did nothing to protect the Stallion from being killed like that and it’s dead due to their wanton disregard.
They most likely went to prison for it, so there's that. Horse breeding is a very tightly regulated industry, because gambling is such a huge money maker.
