Decathlon MT100 down will take you to -5'C for €70.
Edit: After thread discussion below, gonna slap a Mahoosive "claims" before "will take you to -5'C" there. I'll stand by the price tag, but I guess you get what you pay for. I had it down to 0'C on TMB and loved it.
the decathlon ratings i believe are for if you are actively walking, in which case i think -5 would be OK. for being static they say 5-10 degrees higher so more like 0-5 which i think is more or less right
Yeah that tracks, OP is mentioning they are looking to handle around 46F (7'C) so it is an option.
I wouldn’t find an MT100 warm enough at -5 °C
Then the MT500? Site claims it will take you to -10'C. OP wanted cheap and you're hard pressed to find it cheaper.
The MT100 is great value. Decathlons temp ratings are somewhat optimistic though, IMO.
The Decathlon ratings are completely rubbish to be honest
You've got a good point, let me edit my original comment.
Do you have one? I'm doubting
I do and whilst I've had it to 0'C, as somebody who runs warm it was perfect, I can't vouch for the claim besides "that's what the website says".
I run kinda cold and I think 0C is fine with a warmer base layer or something else leuerf with it. I’ve used the Patagonia cap thermal hoodie under it was ok down to freezing. Temperatures around -5C are ok for me with a warmer fleece plus base layer and a shell over the top, but I don’t think l would plan for a trip with those temps in mind using the MT 100.
I have one and I wouldn't trust it for 0°C let alone for -5°C, there is always a sub description saying "in moderate activity with no winds" for those ratings
I'm going to do a 10day hike in the balkans and while the temp during daytime could go up to 25-30celcius, it might get near zero at night, so while we camp. So it's especially for this moment. I can combine with an icebreaker 200 longsleeve and an extra merino tshirt
Eddie Bauer sells a pretty decent puffy that is light that I got for like $30 at Costco. I got it just to see what it was like as it was so cheap (I also have a mountain hardware ghost). And you know. It is not that far off the ghost whisperer.
I have an Eddie Bauer puffy too - they go on sale on their site all the time. I think I got mine for $50 in the Black Friday sales? I’ve had it for a few years and it’s hardly lost any feathers, still looks great. And I wear it almost daily in the winter.
The Eddie Bauer Cirrus Lite has been good to me for $30. Under 11 oz for a medium .
Do you have a link for $30?
Heck yeah that’s what I’m talking about! Link? Or model name?

Looks like they may be out right now. Though when looking for the link I saw the same jacket for $60 on Amazon
The Montbell superior hoodless is only $130 if you order from the Japanese site.
+1
I think the whole line of Montbell down becomes a pretty good value when ordered from Japan to the US. That and their rain gear.
A down puffer is the warmest for its weight and compressibility. But there’s lots of variations in how puffy. How cold do you need to go?
Only like 45 degrees. I get cold easily.
Decathlon down jacket or REI down jacket, especially if you can catch it on sale.
It's not "cheap" but I don't think it's exorbitantly expensive either. If you can spare the cash, the Cumulus Primelite is one of the warmest and lightest puffies you can get for sub-$200.
Decathlon MT100 for $100 ($60 on clearance).
Amazon basics for synthetic, think it ran me about $20 and I don't care if I fuck it up. I save my montbell for when I really need that performance boost
Just got a marmot Highlander hooded jacket on sale for $120 from backcountry, retails for $250-300 full price. Super warm, super packable
I just got a synthetic Alpkit one called the Talini (I’m in the U.K. where synthetic is pretty useful) for £90 in the sale - I’m mega happy with it.
