Almost finished installing a new system with 5 cameras, talk and wireless backup. How does it look? Any suggestions or tips?
Nice setup. What’s the use case? Remote monitoring/recording for security purposes and highly reliable internet with the backup wireless?
And did you go with UI’s LTE access or anything else? They were a bit pricy when I last checked, but would otherwise like one as well.
Yes, all of the above. I went with a cradle point system for backup. This was cheaper for the restaurant than using UI’s backup when it’s rolled into the ISP.
Nice! Thank you.
I’m guessing this (whole setup) was the most cost effective option. Or was there any other product combo you considered?
We thought about adding a switch and having more expansion capabilities, but this location doesn’t need that many more options. This is not the cheapest option but definitely the best bang for the buck. This whole setup is less than 1k in parts including cameras and the phone.
Be careful isp (cox) failover is pretty bad and unreliable just a heads up
What should we keep an eye out for?
So I have had where they were not provisioned so during failover it flipped but did not actually have internet access, I have seen them flat out not work period, I have seen them have such bad reception that it's unusable. Basically we do not use ISP provided cellular failover we would provide our own cradle point and either ours or the customer sim.
This right here. We use ATT First Net now and it has been a much better experience and the monthly cost is dirt cheap. So cheap in fact that I carry around a Cradlepoint 300 just for myself when I do site visits.
Nice! Not bad and thank you.
I haven't found anything else that does all these functions as well, so was just curious.
