U7 Pro Stability?

Question

Is there a secret to make the U7 pro more stable? It randomly restarts. There is no pattern to the restarts. A record uptime for it is 4 days. Usually it reboots once every 24 hours usually at the most inopportune times.

It’s running the latest firmware. I’ve experimented with pretty much every setting.

It’s powered off a usw-lite 8 and managed via a Cloud Gateway ultra.

I’ve had it for about 3 months and I’m ready to throw it out. My wireless connection hasn’t been this unstable since 2005.

You may have a problem with your switch. connect to a non PoE switch using a PoE adapter and check

This. I have three U7 Pros powered off the Pro Max 24 PoE and zero issues.

I have the same issue as you. The device powering it is not the issue. I have tried powering mine from 3 different sources including a PoE++ 24pro max switch. They still restart randomly every few hours where my u6 pros never did or do. There are clearly still firmware issues. I have a support ticket open, I suggest you do the same.

I don’t have power restarts but I’ll agree with you on the U7 Pro instability. It’s the only AP constant losing the internet for all devices connected to it. It’s been driving me crazy.

I have 7 pro & pro max with zero restart.

I have two U7 Pros on a USW-Lite-8 and they haven’t been randomly rebooting. Try a PoE injector to start but if that fails the unit might need to be replaced under warranty.

Aside from the switch/PoE injector, check your cabling. I could run my U7 Pro at 1G fine, but every time I switched to a 2.5G port it would just reboot constantly. Replaced the cable between the wall and the PoE injector and it has been solid since.

I had 3 before upgrading to U7-Pro Max APs. I did not experience this. This sounds like a power issue. Max draw for a U7-Pro is 21W according to Ubiquiti's website. The USW-Lite 8 only has 52W budgeted. Do you have other APs/PoE products connected to your switch?

No, it is the only AP/POE connected to the switch. It draws about 11 watts. POE from the switch.

I just checked it was drawing 9.2w and then a couple minutes later it was drawing 10.21w

Mine at home is stable since januari. And at a customer it's up since I placed it there, a month ago.

The secret is to wait a year after ubiquiti releases a brand new architecture. They do most of their beta testing after releasing a product.

I have a U7 Pro. It restarted a few days ago…..because of an update.

I use Ubiquiti Poe+ Adapter and my U7 Pros have been rock stable. Clearly a cable or power issue.
