Thickens up the sauce. Adds a bit of flavour. Was experimenting a while back and now it’s just part of my process. Depending on the mood I also add curry powder and mixed herbs.

Beans on toast is already top tier, but with grated Leerdamer on top it is absolutely elite. Other grated cheeses tend to be too thick, but the fine fibers of Leerdamer melt perfectly

I think, dear boy, that there is an insufficiency of beans and indeed a shortfall in the toast department.
The toast also looks somewhat anaemic, I would suggest that its proximity to a heat source be maintained for a longer period prior to the application of butter.
Upon closer inspection, there appears to be some unidentified brown inclusions in the beans and if no adequate explanation is forthcoming then the whole sorry mess should be consigned to the pigs and the process begun afresh.
Kindly correct this before our next meeting.

I always sass my beans by frying onion and garlic black pepper and salt to taste. I do the same with mushrooms. Garlic and onions are good to counteract the cholesterol. Also it tastes better .

Fair enough, my preference is two bits of toast, with one cut up into wee squares, with all the beans over that, and the second slice ready for once the wee squares have been eaten with some of the beans, then they are put on the full slice.

Terrible. It needs another slice of toast and unless you’re going to put cheese on that and stick it under the grill, the beans shouldn’t be placed so neatly on the toast and I don’t cover the toast anyway as I like to keep my toast crispy

I have about 1/3 of that amount of beans per slice of toast. Usually 2 slices, with a drop of brown sauce mixed into the beans whilst warming them up, and the toast has to be cooled in a rack before buttering so that it remains crisp.
It's apparently the perfect nutrionally balanced light meal. With the mix of protein, carbs, and fats.
I don't have it very often, but it does make a nice home lunch every few months or so.
Some Lee and perrins and grated cheese and it’ll be perfect.

It needs for starters ANOTHER slice of toast, proper butter on the toast -y'know arterially hardening butter! And like others have suggested a dash of Worstescher Sauce ( Can Never spell it right ) and little grated cheese with a sprinkle of pepper! However - on a cold and miserable day when you are absolutely stone broke, there's nothing like it, to revive your spirits - hell Ive been that broke Ive had to use takeaway restaurant butter packs and pepper packs just to make proper beans on toast! Its one of the best comfort foods on the planet!
