Top 100 albums of all time, but I will add the top 100 most upvoted comments under only this one post instead of adding one everyday. You can (and should) make multiple comments.
Voting will end when I feel like ending it, probably in 48 hours or something.
This post might not get enough traction to reach 100, in which case, eh, I might make another post continuing off of this, I might not. I hope this works well, because adding one album a day is kind of a drag (to me, at least), and I think it'd be fun to do it this way. Adding in increments of 10 or so might also be fun.
Don't worry about commenting or upvoting a lot of albums by the same artist. If we/I/you want a version without any/many repeats, one can just ignore the comments (I would like to make one list with and one without), so nothing is lost by upvoting multiple albums by the same artist.
If two people comment the same album twice, I will only count the upvotes from the comment with more upvotes. You can upvote both or whatever.
If you put multiple albums in one comment, I'll only count the first. You can make multiple comments (and those will all be counted separately).
Edit: if you include the artist's name in your comment, it will make it easier for people to search for your comment.
One fun fact I love is that this album is likely responsible for an increase in people "misspelling" the words "never mind" as "nevermind".
I put "misspelling" in square quotes because, if enough people "misspell" a word a certain way, are they really in the wrong, or has it become a now (more) acceptable alternative spelling? Certain authorities, such as dictionaries and style guides, will say that it is incorrect, yes, but one can argue that what determines the meanings of words is not those authorities but the speakers using those words, and that things like dictionaries ought to be updated to reflect the way words are actually used rather than clinging onto outdated views. (This is actually the approach modern linguists take, it's called linguistic descriptivism.)
I made a comment about how I'm going to make at least two versions based on the comments: one without repeating artists and one with. I might also make one with a cap at a certain number (like no more than 2-5 or more per artist).
I hope this disincentivizes strategic voting. I am personally going to upvote all the King Gizzard albums I like (using upvotes to rank stuff is essentially approval voting, and approval voting ispretty damn cool).
(I wish I could link to that comment, but reddit is being weird rn)link to comment
In other words: upvote/comment as many albums by the same artist as you want.
