What’s your weirdest childhood fear?
DiscussionMy reflection walking out the mirror to get me.
or even winking/smiling would be terrifying
This is so true I got scared of my reflection smiling when I didn’t smile because of a video I watched when I was like 8 💀
In a similar vein, mine was Bloody Mary. Traumatized me so badly that I had to go back to therapy.

I read the Maze Runner Series when I was 10, those of you who read the epilog in book one know about where the gladers are taken. So until we moved a year or two later I would swing around the corner of my bedroom door and punch the clothes incase there was a crank hanging in my closet 😂 10 out of 10 series tho, its a great read.
OMG THIS IS SO FUNNY. I love the Maze Runner series and this made my day haha!

Opening doors at night
Spoiler
I thought a zombie would jump out at me like that one scene in The Walking Dead after Carl and Rick escape the prison. Where Carl opens the door and a zombie tries to get through just when you thought nothing would happen.
Power lines lol
Just felt like they kept getting closer and closer when I was under them
My fire alarm was constantly low battery fsr so around every 30 mins it would beep to let you know its low battery and as a kid I HATED the sound of the fire alarm so for around 3 years every time I made my way up the stairs I would hold my ears as tight as I could (the fire alarms in my house were at the top and bottom of the staircase, the weirdest part I'd that as soon as I got into the bathroom or into my room I would let go of my ears even though the fire alarm was still right next to both the rooms
Peanut butter jelly time song and Taylor swifts “Trouble”
Dark hallways. But I thought if I stood in one for too long, a train was gonna come and run over me.

((Still a fear to this day. I will literally throw any doll into a wall if I really "have" to.))
Falling down those street drains on the side of the road like Georgie got dragged into in the IT movie. Although I had this fear long before I saw IT and had countless nightmares about it from the ages of 5-8 that I still remember so vividly.

My house’s foyer had this silent motion sensor that would light up red at night when you walked by it. I was terrified of walking past it so much that I just wouldn’t go there if it was ever night time. I’d always need a parent with me else I would start panicking. I thought it would jump out and attack me like robot cyborg thing.

Sometimes in family photos under the sma coffee table we had I saw and pointed out that there was a guy with no face just right in front of the small table (this happened only twice) I forgot about it till one day I saw the photo (this was taken back in 2009 or so) and I was honestly surprised how normal it was because it happened twice that I saw the man with no face just a normal looking dude just no face of hair first time I think it was just a plain white shirt and the second time was just a plain black shirt and the craziest thing is both my sisters agreed they saw him I have no clue where the picture is today but it scares me now thinking like "what if he pops up again"

One of my earliest memories actually! I was like 3 years old I had just seen one of the Michael Bay Transformers films, and had a nightmare about a roomba turned evil spiky mini transformer with buzzsaw hands, and I thought this shit lived in my closet 'cause that night something shifted in there and I was so scared to go into my closet all the way till we moved outta that house like 2 years later.
When I was a baby I had stranger anxiety:/
(Does that count?)
I was always scared and had doppelgänger nightmares before I even knew what the word meant and what they were/are. I thought it was just a me thing but guess not after a couple years of reflecting
there was nothing I feared more than mirrors, I always avoided mirrors at all costs, the thought of seeing something standing behind me or my reflection smiling at me when I'm not was terrifying.

That there was a little man playing the trumpet in the bathtub drain bc it made a funny noise when I was in it, I used to cry when my mom said I had to take a bath
My grandma's old cat was so chonky that i was afraid it would eat me. (even saw nightmares about being eaten by it)

I'm not sure if anyone else had this happen but in the dark, objects I had in my room looked like animals and scary things. For example, I was in the room and it was dark and there was a blanket on my bed that I thought was an alligator and I had to build up the confidence to check it out and touch it. Did this happen to anyone else?

My siblings convinced me that Medusa lived in our attic.
No one had it as far as I know, but up until I was around 8, I was scared of those buzzy, dusty bathroom ventilators on ceilings 😭 I’d run out crying and screaming if I saw one in the bathroom
Sharks in the pool 😅
Tail lights on dark nights. I blame the movie Little Nemo because they made me think of the nightmare king

The sun was going to blow up in 5 billion years.

I was afraid to shake whipped cream bottles because I saw a 911 lone star episode where a chef shook one and it exploded.
I'm still slightly cautious about it, but now knowing it's 100% fake and the chances are low I'm not deathly afraid.

cafeteria tables at my school cause they looked like cheese
There's this road that leads to the grocery store that as a kid, maybe 10 years old, I felt like it was super steep. I had nightmares about walking up that road and it kept getting steeper until I slipped and started tumbling backwards until I was about to hit the bottom, then I jolted awake right before falling on my back.
That road has maybe half a meter of slope over a few hundred meters, it ain't even that steep.
i got burned by those outdoor heaters you would see at the patio of restaurants and i was afraid of them for years after that

I had these doors in my old bathroom to hide the washer, water heater and dryer and I used to scared that someone was hiding in there trying to get me or just watching me, it didn't help that the water heater would make the weirdest most random noises😂
Being hunted. I was born with this fear that I was being hunted. I've always had dreams of hiding from someone, they find me then I wake up. It's terrifying. I got over the paranoia but the feeling still lingers.
That if I didn't keep my closet door closed all they way, before bed Freddy Krueger would come get me.
The elder god kraken that lives at the back of the wave pool. Those machines look alot like a dark cage.
Piranha swarm would make it's way through the sewers into the pool, busting through the drain and eating everyone. I couldn't go swimming without goggles because I had to keep an eye on the drains for structural damage being caused from the other side
The gorilla that lived inside my closet
Tv lights at night, once I happen to see a scene from a show (I think criminal minds) where a guy kill a mom and son and drowns the daughter in the pool, and and when he shots the kid it’s show as two quick flash of light. Ever since then if I saw tv lights flashing in the hallway I was convinced someone was out there killing my whole family while i slept. Still make me uncomfortable today

I read “It” at way too young of an age. I think I was 12? Anyway. I feared Pennywise. (Well, until Tim Curry played him in the movie.)
Literally, when i was 4 I was scared because I knew Pennywise from the movie "IT" lived in the sewers so whenever i went to the bathroom, I was always so scared to sit down on the toilet, thinking that Pennywise would come up from the toulet and bite my ass! 😂
The basement after I turn off the lights.
