My school is beginning our transition from traditional percentage/letter grading to IB reporting. There are so many levels to this transition. Currently on my mind is the IB assessment levels and descriptors and how to determine a student’s criterion value within the vague assessment rubric that IB provides. Has anyone been through this overhaul of grading/reporting and have some recommendations? For example, I’m not really seeing a difference in the rubric between, say, a 5 and 6. Also, reporting within the IB system seems quite subjective after years and years and years of correct/incorrect percentage grading.
