Like I understand that it's what it was all about in the beginning, but man feels like every show and movie coming out now is something about the rebellion being against the empire, nothing really to spice it up or not exploring anything different, would love to see a live-action clone wars show or something about the old republic or hell I'm not opposed to exploring the sequels considering it's a new universe and they can do anything with it
anyone else think that the empire era is getting way too saturated?
General DiscussionOld republic is a slept on gold mine for tv movie & video games
Yet Disney considers it non-canon.. fuck them
See I'd love to see the galaxy in peace time with the republic still around.. just going around movie/show wise as episode 1 builds up.. at the end.
I agree, and it seems this has been a problem since the acquisition. Everything is stuck in the Empire/Rebels rut, even the sequels, and it's frankly getting stale.
There’s no shot you’re actually complaining about over-saturation and asking for another Clone Wars project. I refuse to believe it.
I didn't specifically say only a clone wars project just something else my opinion though
Even mentioning the idea contradicts your desire to see something new/different.
No it doesn't
It kinda does, sorry. Live action Clone Wars? Really? Clone Wars is fine just the way it is in all its animated glory, we don’t need it live action. Also, here you are talking about over saturation? CW is pretty oversaturated, well over hundreds of episodes, comics, a movie (which yes I get is basically a larger Clone Wars episode but still) - trust me, it’s good.
The problem is it’s not just the Empire era that’s oversaturated, it’s the whole bloody Skywalker saga. Well, maybe the exception of post ROTJ, but for the most part, nearly everything acts as supplementary material to the main films. What we need is more content going far back or forwards. But Clone Wars? Yeah no, we need a break from that era as well.
Blame TCW and Rebels for being so good at character development and world building that they keep spinning off stories.
I just want something that takes itself away from the Skywalker era completely. Im sick of expansion happening only within certain bounds of this same timelime. Put me in the way future or way past of Star Wars and tell me a new story.
This is what i thought they were originally gonna do. Because in legends there were thousands of years of unexplored story in the past.
But nope they got rid of everything to tell… even more stuff in the same goddamn era ;_;
Yeah I agree too, luckly the quality of the shows until now is very good, but it would be nice to see something new. Maybe set in the Old Republic or in the years afte the battle of Endor. I hope they aren't afraid to try new things after the sequel trilogy experiment that was heavily criticized.
Mando, BOBF and the Ahsoka show are all set after Endor, along with plenty of books and a few comics
I would kill for a old republic show
I will be really intriguing by that period, also the high republic could be plenty of events.
We've had a lot recently. But (hopefully) we'll move away from Empire stories somewhat in future tv shows. We won't abandon them together, the Empire is too iconic. But shows like the Acolyte should give us a break.
There is a lot of Imperial era yeah, I don’t mind it so much because they’re all telling their own stories which we all know inevitably all of these stories link up in the Rebellion, but it’s nice to know how things got there. Its like a 30 year time period with dramatic change, you can keep things a little fresh. Plus less jedi, that’s good to me. I’m a little tired of their stories tbh. Especially Ahsoka. Great character, little tired of her bring everywhere. Stuff like Andor and even Bad Batch is a much needed breath of fresh air to me.
Clone wars I feel it’d be a little difficult because the animated series kind of covered all there really is to cover.
If anything I’d like to see more between the OT and the Sequels. We have Mando but I’d like to see the collapse of the Empire and rise of the First Order, can even bring a little setup to the return of Palpatine if you really want, same way Clone Wars expanded on Anakin’s fall. Either that or pre phantom menace, whether it be by 10 years or 1000, doesn’t matter to me.
Yes. Hire some writer and either go 200 years back, or just go forward. Enough Skywalker already.
None of these shows are about the Skywalkers.
Enough about Skywalkers still applies.
Sorry you hate The Mandalorian. Can't please everyone.
You're weird
Star Wars has become Groundhog Day.
Agreed. IMO one of the biggest drawbacks to the empire era is how by definition we don’t see the Jedi at the same height we do during the Old Republic. I would love to see a series where we can relive the Jedi being peacekeepers just floating around the galaxy doing their thing.
Having said that, I’m definitely thrilled that we have all this material. I remember being so sad as a kid after Episode III came out thinking that was it for Star Wars
