What Star Wars opinion do you hold now that your past self would have strongly disagreed with?

Basically what’s an opinion that you have vastly shifted on over the years?

Mine was I did not like resistance one bit. I didn’t like it so much so I think I stopped at episode 3 of season 1 and just didn’t watch it until I think January of last year. I gave it a watch and while it didn’t blow me away or anything like that. It was a fun watch. It was a fun time waster.

If I had told my past self that I would have probably said our taste in shows has significantly downgraded lol.

(The meme I posted yesterday got me really thinking about this and I would love to hear what you guys have changed your opinion on)

But why did Bail call on Obi-Wan anyway? Isn't Bails thing that he protects Leia? Why not send his military or hire a bounty hunter to get her back instead if this Jedi who the Empire will send anything to destroy? Just doesn't make sense

Again, if you have seen the show properly, Bail's dialogue in that scene said it all:

Bail: We don't know who it was. No ransom, no leads. Whoever they are, they knew where she would be. They... they were waiting.

Breha: She needs you, Obi-Wan. We can't trust anyone else.

Obi-Wan: What about the Senate?

Bail : We cannot let this become public. It would draw too much attention.

Obi-Wan : Well, your guard, then? Or a bounty hunter?

Bail : Only you know how important she really is, Obi-Wan. If Leia is discovered...

Obi-Wan: I can't leave here, Bail. My duty is to the boy...

Bail: What about your duty to his sister? She's as important as he is.

"Only you know how important she really is" is a really dumb line, as Bail also knows, and again BAIL took Leia and made it HIS responsibility.

No need to drag Obi-Wan out for his fault and nearly get him killed.

Also getting Obi-Wan to find is more inefficient and more dangerous, as Obi-Wan, if caught will have the whole Empire on his and Leias tail.

So he could easily hire a private bounty hunter but the writers need Obi-Wan to do it for the plot.

It's a bit difficult to keep the kidnap of the senator's daughter away from being public, if it wasn't that intention, the senator should use all his resources to rescue her.

Since is to maintain as a secret:

His resources are public, so cannot be used;
The bounty hunter guild seems compromised, he wouldn't trust it;
He believes in Jedi, only Obi-Wan and away Yoda are aware of the girl.

Why would they want to keep it a secret? What possible reason would they have to suspect that they would find out Leia isn’t actually their daughter? If you remember, Reva uses her mind trick powers and Leia fucking resists it and Reva somehow doesn’t come to the conclusion that she’s force sensitive or has had training. And Vader literally interrogates her personally and he doesn’t suspect a thing either, so this theory implodes on itself

The answer given was to not “draw much attention”. Deeper than this, was not exposed, and we can only guess.

Reva ordered the kidnap (she would double-cross her masters; always had her own agenda and intel — every step she made, is shown to us that it was retroactively already planned, like every piece of SW, and kid content). Nevertheless, from the Organa perspective, the kidnap is an obscure move, a trait of the dark side. They are aware that Darth Sidious and Darth Vader control the senate, and are hiding Leia from them. Without further intel, they could be terrified by the idea of the secret being known.

Mind tricks are a soft magic thing, but here we go. Those are easier with weaker minds. Reva doesn't have a weak mind and was trained in both ways. Darth Vader knows she doesn't have a weak mind, as many probed by him before (or so we would expect). Kids can have strong minds. A senator's daughter could have been trained to resist. Reva should have been resisted before many times, Darth Vader couldn't interrogate an older Leia and didn't suspect anything.

You can always explore any point of view. The devil will always have his own advocates. You can appreciate the ride, and you can do what you are doing. It's a family show, it has flaws, the 'science' and the agenda is 'explained' on the fly, I couldn't care less.

So if the Organa family is terrified that Vader or Sidious are in on it and maybe know that Leia is Vader’s child, why would Bail fly directly to Obi-Wan’s home and let them kill/kidnap Luke? Why not go to Yoda, who isn’t preoccupied like Obi-Wan? Again, why not hire a bounty hunter and promise a large payment or alert their military who would all gladly give their lives to protect her? The reasons the show give are weak and stupid and hurt the universe and characters for it.

Already said: - Yoda is away. Obi-wan (Ben) is known where to be - The Bounty Guild is compromised - He feels he has no one left
