I’m not in tx yet. But once I start, I want to maximize the new neuroplasticity. How do others approach this? I have some special brain enhancing music. I want to commit to spending time each day doing things like vagal toning, watching supportive videos like Rick Hanson. I wish the stupid medical industrial complex would cover attendance at groups that practice skills. How do you do it?
I've either read or it was recommended to me, to exercise around the time of your treatment, either before or (whenever you're up to it) afterward. I think walking is fine. I haven't done it myself yet...🤦♀️
I'll have to look up vagal toning. I'm familiar with the vague nerve, but haven't heard of that. Do you mind sharing where you found your brain enhancing music or a link? I'm getting tired of my music and was going to research or look on YouTube, but it feels like a wormhole would be waiting for me.
I actually purchased it from advanced brain technology.
Okay, I'll check it out. Thanks😊
I'd say to focus on hobbies. Try getting back into what your mood made you neglect.
30mg dextromethorphan twice daily will boost esketamine’s effects. I take it three days a week for this, including the day of treatment and for two days following. Search RoboTablets on Amazon. If you search this sub for dextromethorphan you’ll find more information. I’m on treatment 30-something and it’s helped me a lot.
Isn’t that dangerous to mix spravato with a stimulant like DXM? I thought all stimulants, benzos, & opiates were supposed to be held the day of spravato treatments. Do u mean it boosts the antidepressant effects or just boosts the high feeling? Did a psychiatrist tell you it can enhance spravato?
I have never been advised about the mixing. I am actually at the clinic now receiving treatment and will ask. My psychiatrist told me DXM boosts the effects of the Spravato. He recommended I take the 30mg RoboTablets twice a day. I don’t worry about boosting the high because my psychiatrist also told me that Spravato is working regardless of any side effects. There are studies with DEX and esketamine if you look on Google Scholar.
After a session I try to go home and spend the day on the swing watching nature
Just like any other trip, set your destination idea enhanced with a good instrumental playlist as lyrics might get you derailed. I listen to Test shot starfish
Can you tell me about vagal toning? What do you do?
I love the journal right after treatment. It helps me work through my thoughts and solidifies the experience in my brain. I also try to journal throughout the week, especially the day of my appointment. It helps me reflect on my emotions and what’s going on with me. I have also found that meditation is very helpful. Taking time to sit quietly a day just be kind of acts as a refresh for me and brings a lot of the positive experiences during sessions back. Honestly, for me, meditating is almost like a spravato session. It isn’t as effective because I don’t have the ketamine right then, but I can do a lot of the same mental stuff that I do in sessions. And it helps my brain lock in those new thought pathways without the medication.
I say for the first few times or at least once— don’t go in with an intention. Let things bubble to the surface on their own merit
